Mousekeeping envelopes - a quick tip!

That's interesting....DLR Housekeepers make between $8.89-$10.00 an hour, and their contract specifies them as non-tipped. With tips, they would be the highest paid Hourly Cast Members in all of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts :scared:, particularly if they don't claim the tips against their taxes.

No wonder everyone says the real money's in Hotels .

Doesn't 'non-tipped' mean that they don't count tips as part of your salary, as opposed to, say, a restaurant server, whose salary IS partially tips? There are special laws governing 'tipped' jobs, and part of that is, they can pay you LESS than minimum wage if you make over a certain amount in tips.

SI SI SI!!!!! I was curious so I called DLH and talked to a wonderful woman named Maria and she said, tips are accepted and to make sure the spanish speaking staff knows that you would like to leave a tip to simply place it on the pillow of your unmade bed. Sounds easy enough for this patron of the Disneyland Hotel who will be happy to leave a tip..;)

It is totally up to you if you wish to leave a tip of course, regardless of their policy. I look at this way, if you feel housekeeping went above and beyond their job description then a tip would be acceptable, and why shouldn't it? They went out of their way to make your stay even more magical!!!

Not in California. Our laws don't allow employers to apply a Employee's tips towards the Minimum Wage. Everyone has to be paid at least $8.00 an hour in wages, tip or no tip.

"non-tipped" means the employee does not receive tips. The train conductor, monorail pilot, and ride operators are not not tipped. In this case the cleaning staff is not supposed to be tipped.

The long standing policy is for a CM to deny the gift three times. At that point a fourth denial would be hurting the feelings of the guest which is not allowed so the CM then accepts the gift. My friend would say nonono then take the gift.

CM type maids have no way of knowing if the guest gave them a tip is the repairman or someone else came in and took the money first. Leave it at front desk.
