I'm not advocating that people not use the site. On the contrary, I say jump in and go for it because you never know. However, I can't help but wonder if a dating site such as MM is setting people up for a really hard fall in the sense that one goes in with huge expectations because the Disney stigma is attached. The Disney stigma being that everyone is happy and nice, and honest, and just wants to spread trust and pixie dust amongst the entire world, but the same cautions apply as they would to a general dating site. Not everyone who claims to love Disney is as amazing as you are. My unsolicited advice is that people still be cautious of scammers, and not give out their personal information too quickly. Also, don't assume that all MM users will be single. I didn't need a dating site to teach me this lesson- real life hit me with that bus. Everyone, it seems, is excited about this development. I'm apprehensive. What are your opinions?

I have zero reservations about letting this band wagon go on ahead without me. Is there anyone else who feels the same way?

Yeah, I don't think that there is an expectation that Disney Fans would behave like Disney characters (the heroes anyway). I think they just want someone who shares some interest, especially an interest that many people don't "get" in the same way we do. There's no real harm in it.

You're 100% correct. There's no harm at all. I guess my concern was more from the fact that scammers have no souls and will use what they view as a weakness against you to get what they want. In the case of MM, that weakness (The word being used for example only. It's not my actual opinion that it's a weakness.) is the inherent need for some Disney lovers to find (as cheesy as it sounds) eternal love with someone who shares their same passion for Disney. It's not a matter of saying don't do it because you'll regret it. It's more of an argument as to whether or not MM is potentially a more dangerous route to take because the risk could possibly be somewhat greater than other dating sites. It's just food for thought.

And by no means am I an expert, lol. I'm just a thinker projecting my thoughts and concerns. :)

Just use it smartly, don't let any extra guards down because it's a Disney Dating site. If you've never used a dating site before, then just know that people can hide stuff easily over the internet. So, if you where to ever meet, meet in public the first few times. That's all.

I completely disagree with this. I don't think all people on the site are claiming to be single. There are options for people just looking for "Friends" or "Park Pals". I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I've been in a committed relationship for 3 1/2 years. He likes Disney, has fun when we go, but obviously does it all cause I love it. He doesn't nearly share the same passion and way of life I do. I've been seriously considering signing up for the site to find people either near me, or who would like to meet up when I'm in town, who share the same understanding of my absolute love for all things Disney. My mom and I are the only ones who feel the same way in our family, or inner circle. It'd be nice to really get to know some people outside of social media friends who have that same common feeling. That being said, to use "Mouse Mingle" and "Ashley Madison" in the same sentence is kind of offensive to "Mouse Mingle" I feel. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't "Ashley Madison" a site for people who are either married or in committed relationships to seek out affairs? Is that what you feel this new website is doing? That couldn't be further from what it's trying to accomplish in my opinion. The person who created this site was truly trying to give The Disney Community yet another place to go, chat, meet, discuss and maybe even find a little something special in the midst of it all. Again, you have to be careful and smart doing anything in life. Whether it be meeting someone in person, over the internet, etc.. "Mouse Mingle" would be no different. I'm excited for this great new option.

Valid concerns but people get hurt with every way to meet someone and you can only really protect yourself.
Except in real life you can easily spot a 57 y/o foreign man posing as a young, well educated, highly positioned gentleman "down on his luck". You wouldn't dream of giving cash to said 57 y/o!
" Catfish" lurk everywhere searching for easy prey...
Nothing wrong with searching for love and/or friendship on the net, but it's a lot easier to hide behind a mask on the www!
My motto is always, "Buyer beware"... If something (or someone) sounds too good to be true, he/she probably is.
Use the same precautions you would on a blind date anywhere. Do your due diligence and keep your financial and physical self safe!
I actually believe though, that there is a nut for every bolt, so if you can find your one true love in a Disney lover's chat room, I say go for it!

If anyone is giving financial help to someone on any dating website with out having physically met the person and started an offline relationship then I've got a bridge for sale as well. They would have fallen for a scheme on or off line.

Just like any thing that is online you have to be smart and with anything that concerns dating or finding love or whatever you have to be smart. Be open enough to form a bond and take the relationship off line but guard your heart through out the entire process until you know everything is real.

This is the perfect advice!
