Mouse Expedition is the best!

Another bonus...he new where all the restrooms were!

They're kinda everywhere.

I don't know, there's something not very organic about having someone lead you ride to ride through the park. I know a lot of people like it, and that's perfectly fine - but if I'm paying $$ to take a tour of sorts I'd rather do a Walk in Walt's Footsteps or something where I gain extra access AND FPs etc.

I briefly considered using this service when my cousins came out during the holiday season - between Christmas and New Years. We didn't do it, but I did get fastpasses for my family. It turned out that we didn't use some of them because we'd either be on the other side of the park, or dining, etc., when it was time to go on the attraction. My cousins still had an excellent time.

In my opinion, if you want to use a service like this (as long as Disney doesn't have a problem with it), then enjoy. But, don't think that you cannot have a fun time at the Disneyland resort if you rely on your own resources to determine what to do. I love planning, but it's more important not to lose the fun of the moment when you're there.

Are you speaking from a personal experience you had? What were the problems?

Didn't see this until now...oops! Yes, I am speaking from personal experience. I would be more than happy to tell you what our problems were....sending you a PM.

Brian may be wonderful - however - he is NOT the only tour guide that Mouse Expeditions uses, and not everyone gets Brian as a guide. Those of us (you) who do not get Brian as a guide may NOT have the same wonderful experience - just an FYI.

Do you mind letting me know why as well? I have contacted him about our trip and I would love to hear your experience. Thank you!

We booked Mouse Expeditions for December 30 and 31. We booked Deluxe Tours, because we'll need a mid-day break to rest for the late nights. Brian was very responsive and gave us some good initial advice for our planning. I'm looking forward to fun days in very crowded parks!

Yes, Avery's mom, please share your experience so the rest of us can make informed decisions about this.

One more thumbs up for Mouse Expeditions. :thumbsup2

We booked with Brian for night time shows on three busy evenings (President's Day trip). Since we break each day for lunch/naps/pools at the hotel, I found great value in Brian's night show tour. This gave us time to relax and enjoy the park until closer to show time. And the viewing spots were amazing. He is just in the right place/right time.

Brian is easy-going, easy to reach by phone/text, and very flexible when able. Our fireworks were cancelled due to wind the first night. On the following nights he adjusted shows so we could try again to see them, which we did.

We just rebooked for another night tour in May. Thanks Brian!

My spidey senses are tingling too.

I've been on several trips and read a lot of old posts on this site, but never heard of the "company" until this post.

We are in DCA today and did a half day tour with Brian and it was OUTSTANDING! He was very easy going, communicated very well and I would highly recommend his service. He was able to get us FP's while we took advantage of the low crowds in the early morning hours. DCA opened for EE at 7 and we were at gate at 6:45. RSR was down, we headed straight for Paradise Pier and he met us there at 8. He was able to time our FP's so we were able to hit all of the windows. I have no complaints and would hire him again. Feel free to ask any questions!

Chuckle. Yes I've been waiting in the wings for months to spring this trap.

Does anyone have any tips to raise my post count?

First post. Interesting...

Nevermind, I figured it out.

Thanks to Avery's Mom for posting the Yelp link. I notice Brian responded directly to her Yelp review today to apologize.

FWIW, I've been around these boards for a long time, and have a reasonably high post count. And I heartily recommend Mouse Expeditions too. We used his service last October to save space at the fireworks and F! Brian and his lady friend were wonderful!

Has anyone used ME since they started enforcing FP return times (besides Avery's mom)?

We are considering using them but our group will include four kids under 8 and I doubt that we are going to want to go back and forth between parks repeatedly just to maximize FPs.

TIA!

How much is the charge for this and what's the process for him to save a spot for F!?

We did. He made sure we knew before arriving that we would need to work out schedule around the newly enforced policy. I was very clear that I did not want to ping-pong all around and he worked our FP schedule around what we wanted to do, where we were and when our dinner reservations were. There were 10 of us, not a small group.

We would ask me before getting a FP what time was good for us. This was especially important with RSR. He waited at the FP machines until the time window we needed was open.

Here is how it worked for us...

I contacted Brian via email, asked a few questions, we emailed back and forth a bit and decided on a date and tour. I made a deposit via paypal. He confirmed payment and said he would be in touch closer to the day of our trip. The week before our trip, Brian sent a detailed plan of our day with a ride order and estimated time we should be completing a group of rides.

I printed this out and brought it to the park that morning. We had EE and were at the park gates at 6:45 AM…I know, right? Only for my love of Mickey and our desire to see Carsland!

Brian could not get in until 8 AM at regular opening so he gave us detailed instructions on how to attack Carsland at 7 AM. He would beeline to the RSR FP line and we would meet him there.

Well, we heard RSR was down and decided to hit the Paradise Pier area with TSM and California Screamin’. We did TSM and CS 2x each without even having to get off, it was great. Everyone else was in Carsland. PP was a ghost town. Brian texted to let me know he was on his way into the park, I told him where we were and what we had done. He approved, yay me! He meet up with us in PP, gave me a map with rides marked with numbers indicating the ride order, got our tickets and set out to get FP’s for us while we continued to ride.

For us it was awesome… No more Dad’s missing things while being the FP runner, no worries about how to meet up later. Brian spent 90 minutes or so getting FP’s. He knows the FP system and was able to time everything perfectly. It was not a fluke or luck. He would wait at each machine until the time was right for us.

After discussing with our group and Brian, we decided to put Carsland off until after our afternoon break and dinner reservations. He handled it.

After a couple of hours, my 6 year old nephews were dying to see Carsland so we told Brian we wanted to go there, again no problem. We did not ride RSR but we did ride Luigi’s and Maters and did get to soak up some of the awesome ambiance! Carsland is very cool and very cool at night too.

We did the 5 hour tour but Brian planned our whole day for us, lots of tips and hints about where to sit for Aladdin and when to get in line, where to stand for WOC and when to get in line…

It was hands down our best day in the park. He made everything go smoothly and was able to go with the flow. We were not slaves to a schedule, but it does help to have a plan.

My only regret is that we did not hire him to come to DL with us the next day!!!

How much is the charge for this and what's the process for him to save a spot for F!?

This is from his website:

Prices (does not include entry into Disneyland or California Adventure):
  • Standard Option: $25 for a written itinerary based on your needs for the day
  • Night Show Tour Option: $75 for one night show and an additional $25 for each additional show on the same night for a viewing spot holder (7pm-10pm). Guaranteed EXCELLENT spots for World of Color, Fantasmic, and the Disneyland Firework shows
  • Deluxe Tour Option: $200 for a personal guide to show you around the parks and Fastpass collector that will be at your side for half of the day. (Opening +5 hours)
  • Premium Tour Option: $400 for a personal guide for the entire day and night (night shows included, Opening - Closing or last night show)

Holidays are extra, but he is easy to find on google.

I have a lot of respect for someone who creates their own opportunities, owns up to their failings and takes the necessary steps to improve their service. :thumbsup2

It is notable that just a few months ago, the premium tour for all day was only $100. At that price and at that time, it was an absolutely amazing service. He could gather giant stacks of FPs and all you had to do was walk around using them.

Now that FP return windows are enforced, and now that he has quadrupled his rates, I am not so certain about the value for me, but obviously the market has spoken.

Yep, I noticed he had increased his rates as well. Not sure if he quadrupled them, but at least double. I believe I paid $50 for him to hold spots for both fireworks and F! I agree that I'd think twice at the current rates, but as you note, the market has spoken. I applaud him for finding an opportunity that people are willing to pay that much for.

As for process -- he and his lady friend would put down a plastic tarp, and sit there and wait while we were doing our thing. At the appointed hour, we'd come over and switch places with them. They'd go off and save the next spot. So someone was always there holding the spot.
