I'm sensitive to motion sickness but really wanted to try Soarin' this trip. I passed it up in CA last fall and in the world last spring. I'm returning this November and really want to try it out but am not sure how I'll be able to handle it. Rides like back to the future, star wars, and tower of terror and completely out of the question for me. How's soarin? Has anyone sensitive to motion sickness tested it out? Please let me know!

I can't speak for WDW, but, at DL I can't do Star Tours, makes me sick (as do alot of roller coasters, ferris wheels and car rides), however, I have no problem on Soarin'! Hope this helps.

It never used to bother me but this trip ToT and RnRc made me ill. As did EE. So I wasn't sure about Soarin but couldn't imagine missing it. It didn't affect me at all. Have you tried ginger gum? I hear that helps. I wish I would have had some this trip.

Me! I do get motion sick now that I'm older. I used to be able to ride Back to the Future at Universal, Body Wars & Star Tours. We went almost 10 years ago & Body Wars started making me sick.

I rode Soarin' in January & got woosy at the very beginning. I dont know if it had to do with us being in the front "glider" so we went up highest & fastest with a black screen, but that is when I felt bad--immediately when it started. I looked away from the screen for a while & then was able to watch the movie & "ride" again. Still a little shaky though.

I, too, get motion sickness, but had no problem with Soarin. However, you might want to play it safe and take a non-drowsy Dramamine about an hour before you plan to ride.

Our 17-year old son was nauseous after Soarin ... we couldn't believe it. He ended up taking a very long break resting in the Land pavilion before he felt well enough to venture on. You just never know how some of these attractions will affect people.

Take Bonine! It worked great for me and I get motion sick really easy.

I get motion sickness but rode Soarin' twice last week with no problem whatsoever. We rode in the 2nd & 3rd rows, so maybe the first row is rougher?

Take the chance...it's a great ride!!

Rides of the roller coaster, drop-over-the-top ilk make me sick, too--and the visual representations of that usually do too (does anybody remember the Chevy Show at Six Flags Atlanta??). But I was able to ride Soarin'. I took Bonine, went early in the morning, and looked over at the non-moving black wall when the swoops were about to be too much. Go ahead and try it. :thumbsup2

Bonine is the brand name for over-the-counter Antivert. It's meclazine. It's chewable, and for me works much better than Dramamine. As your pharmacist if you don't see it. You don't have to have a perscription.

I get motion sick on some rides also, however I do just fine on Soarin. If you should start to feel the slightest indication of motion sickness while you're on Soarin, just close your eyes. The ride itself does not move except for the initial ascent and final decent. If you close your eyes, you will not see, therefore not feel the "motion sensation". Good luck with the ride. I love the experience.

It did bother me some but I got over it. I did take my meclizine that morning before riding.

Star Tours was the worst though-I was ruined for the rest of the night after that one. I thought I was going to get sick right in the middle of MGM.

For me, the only rides at Disney that affected me were Mission Space (when they only had one type of ride, haven't tried the 'tame' version yet) and Star Tours was so-so. No issues at all on Soarin.

Bonine is antivert. It keeps you from getting that woosy feeling. I take it everyday of our vacation b/c I dont want to miss anything! My suggestion is to take it right after breakfast on a full stomach. It doesnt make me woozy...and gets me on every ride! (Even Mission Space: Orange Team-which is my favorite)
On Soarin' I felt a little wierd at first...but once my equilibrium got its bearings I was good to go!!! Its an AWSOME feeling...

I highly recommend it! (but check with your doctor first...just in case)

I loved Soarin'!! Can't do Star Tours because it really makes me feel lousy but no problem at all with Soarin'. Good Luck!
Karen :thumbsup2

It is strange-- I get motion sickness but Soarin didn't bother me, however my mother, who only occasionally get motion sickness, was very bothered by it. She didn't start feeling better for several hours.

I am VERY sensative and was very nervous about riding Soarin in December. I was so nervous, I almost backed out........not to mention, I'm affraid of heights. It was a breeze, basically like sitting up high watching an IMAX movie. I asked for the lowest row and they were happy to accomidate.

:rotfl:

I get motion silck very easy. I cannot ride any roller coaster...blahhh
Star tours and body ars made me sooooooooo sick!!!

Soarin was great!!!! I did not get sick at all. We rode in the top row. Very smooth and easy. If you feel like you may start to get sick just close your eyes. The ride is so smooth you dont feel much if you cant see the screen.
