Just wondering how intense the rides are at Disney? I get vertigo occasionally. Will be traveling with my 9 year old son to Disney in June and I really want to be able to take him on the great rides they have but am very reluctant to do so! Any suggestions?

Everyone's sensitivity is different. I have a RX for vertigo that I take occassionaly. The only rides that bothered me where Mission Space (and I don't think you even have to have vertigo issues to feel icky after that ride) and the tea cups. But what bothers one, may not bother another. If you're not sure if a ride will bother you, save it to the end of the day so you're not left feeling sick the rest of the day.

My age is telling on me. I get motion sickness (mild) on Mission:Space, Body Wars, & sometimes Star Tours. I've never done Teacups.

I almost never get motion sick on rides... Mission Space did make me feel a little woozy though... mom and I got a little excited and rode it twice in a row, then after that decided we were done for the trip- I felt pretty "off" for a few hours!

I wouldn't try Mission Space if I were you. I've heard Astro Orbiter in Tomorrowland bothers some people. The only thing that's bothered me though (M:S aside because I won't ride it) is Star Tours. And that only bothers me depending on the seat I'm in-- if I'm in the back row or near it, I'm fine. In the front row?

The only type of rides that get me a little dizzy and not feeling that great are the simulator type rides. Also anything that goes 'round & 'round. I can do roller coaster (even ones with loops though) But Disney has so many rides that are mild, that you should be fine.

Definitely steer clear of Body Wars. Just the idea of oozing through veins makes me queezy.

I was fine with Mission:Space but got it really bad on Star Tours.

I take a Bonine every morning before we go to the parks. It doesn't make me sleepy, and allows me to go on rides that would normally make me ill. I've read the suggestion that you take it the night before (it lasts 24 hours) if you worry it might make you sleepy. And you won't ever catch me anywhere near Mission Space!

Another fan of Bonine here. My DH and I take one every morning and we don't worry about motion sickness. I do avoid simulators, but can handle the coasters and Dinosaur with no problems. Just hope it works well when I try EE next week! I'm nervous about the travelling backwards on that, but I have to try it once!

Yep, Bonine usually works well for me also. I get the worst motion sickness and it doesn't make me sluggish like Dramamine does.

If you plan on trying a motion sickness remedy be sure you try it at home first. My DH waited until we arrived to try his "highly recommended sure fire pills" and he got so sleepy we had to go back to the room so he could nap! Now he uses an herbal peppermint-ginger suppliment that works very well.

He did MS once and did okay but swears he'll never go again. He got very queesy on Body Wars and StarWars... and of course spinning tea cups & the like are out.

Thanks everyone for the great tips.Am running out for Bonine in the am!!! LOL Can't wait to go!!I think I'm more excited than my son!! Nancy

Carry some "less-drowsy" Dramamine with you and take a half pill or ask your Dr for the patch....I think you can wear some of those all day!
