I can take some spinning and moving, but what really gets me is motion of that like Star Tours. I even get queasy when I watch my boys playing games on the Wii. I have never tried Soarin', and I would like to on our next trip, but I am worried about getting sick. If you are prone to motion sickness, does Soarin' bother you?

P.S.
I will take some Meclazine before I ride, but I am still nervous about it.

I absolutely cannot ride star tours and haven't had a huge problem with soarin. Very slightly motion sick but not anything in comparison to star tours

I am *very* prone to motion sickness. I wan't brave enough to try Star Tours, so I can't compare, but Soarin' gave me several moments where I had to close my eyes and concentrate on my breathing to calm the sick feeling.

For me, what exacerbates my motion sickness is being warm and closed in, which is a big part of Star Tours.

Soarin' is just the opposite. You have air blowing at you and it's actually significantly cooler in there.

Also, it's a smooth motion. Not jerky or unexpected. That helps too.

Soarin' has actually never bothered me in the least, but I could see where it's easily an issue for many.

Bolding mine. That's a very good point! When I'm feeling car sick the first thing I do is roll down my window to get some cool air.

My DW and I are both very prone to motion sickness -- can't ride any spinning rides. I have absolutely no problem on Soarin'. She sometimes gets to feeling a bit queasy afterwards, but finds that munching on soda crackers helps. Her favorite is goldfish crackers ;)

Bob

I can't watch my kids play wii either but Soarin' has never bothered me. I try to take motion meds but I've done Soaring without them and had no problem.

The good thing with Soaring is, the movement of the chairs is very minimal and slow so if you started to feel sick you could just close your eyes and I think it would pass.

I can't ride Star Tours, or watch my kids play Wii, or go on the Teacups. I'm even glad to get off Dumbo when it stops! And I always avoid 3D movies. But I haven't had any problems on Soaring. :). It's worth a try...it's an amazing ride. Why not plan it for a time that you can take a little break after riding?

It's really not too bad. My father gets really bad motion sickness and he did not get it on that ride.

I am prone to motion sickness. I rarely ride in the back of a car. I wore sea-bands and took bonine at night before bed. Soarin' didn't bother me at all! I really believe in the sea-bands. I rode Screamn' too. I was queasy, but I did not barf. I sipped a sprite for about 30 minutes and felt better.

Ditto. I have motion sickness but tried Star Tours during our last visit because (1) my son wanted to and (2) it was one of two rides we had not tried yet. I hated it from the start - I told my son that I love him but that was the first and last time I go on that ride. It didn't bother him since there are so many other cool rides.

Soaring doesn't bother me from a motion sickness perspective. There's no jerky movements - there's the odd go/stop but not that bad. When I first went on it, I didn't know what to expect and there were a couple of times I was nervous. Why? I have a fear of heights and they do a good job in tricking your eyes in believing you are actually high up. But if you don't have a fear of heights, you probably won't get that sensation.

I get pretty bad motion sickness (can't do Star Tours - or most motion simulated rides - or Space anymore) and I haven't had a problem with Soarin'.

I get motion sick on ST.

On Soarin', I have to be careful in the beginning of the movie to look at the "horizon" when the seats seem to turn to soar over the aircraft carrier. Once the image makes it appear as though riders are going straight again, I am okay.

Also, I can't look at any "curved" are of the screen without getting motion sick.

That is what I do. Then I ride again and close my eyes at different points, so my head can put the whole thing together.

The first time I rode, I had my eyes closed, and missed Tinkerbell.

I get terrible motion sickness on lots of stuff at Disneyland. It seems the older I get, the less I can go on. However, that doesn't stop me from riding Soarin'. I have to keep my eyes closed the whole time, but the music and gentle motion are so relaxing that I don't mind missing the scenes. It's worth going on just for that.

I feel quite queasy after Star Tours (new & old) but I'm fine with Soaring. :)

I can't do Star Tours, Space Mountain, or Teacups. I also can't do rides like Captain Eo or anything else where you're enclosed in a motion simulator. But Soarin' is no problem for me; I really like it. I agree with the poster who suggested keeping your eyes off the curved part of the screen, though.

I start taking Dramamine 2 days before my trip and continue throughout my stay. Helps allot with the motion sickness on even the tough rides.

I have motion sickness issues on several rides but have never been close to sick on Soarin'. Anyways, IMHO, it would be worth it to ride this.
