First off, My Mom past 2 years ago, so It's not the "happiest" time of the year for me. With that being said, I still would like to do something nice for my wife "from our 6 yo/d"....

Some ideas I have are:

Day at spa.
Or massage

maybe an Ipad, but not sure If that would be a gift she'd really like?
Thought about getting her a plane ticket to go see her mom?

I could just take and leave with our daughter and let her have the day to herself.. (I think on Mothers day the kid and mom should be together, so I'm not really into that idea..

Anyway, Usually this board gives really good advice, so I'm just putting it out there.

If you as a mother could pick any gift by another person, what would it be.
thanks for any help

I think booking a nice brunch out with the whole family would be nice, and giving a gift of a day to herself, or an afternoon at the spa etc. The best of both worlds!

Although I really do like your idea of the plane ticket to spend some time with her mom! That would be a wonderfully considerate gift as well!

I'd love a Kindle....:rolleyes1

One year my DH thought he'd do the take the kids away for the day thing. He thought since I am with them so much I'd like the break. I called within minutes and said I wanted to go with them. Mother's Day I want to be with my kids. HOWEVER, any other day I would have loved the break so a prepaid day away (at a spa if that is her thing, or to visit her mom, or whatever) in the form of a coupon I think would be very welcome. I agree with yo uthough, on Mother's Day I want to be with my kids. Now he all but bribes them to not argue for the day. That is always my best gift! :cool1:

Go with what she normally likes or talks about. Like for me, I am simple, I like a picnic (that I don't prepare) at the park sitting on a blanket while the kids play. I like not being asked to do anything for anyone for the day. :thumbsup2

Sorry for the loss of your mom. I am sure the day is hard but it is nice for you to remember that your wife is a mom too and needs that day. I think whatever you do she will appreciate it.

How about a photobook? Most of the different sites make it super easy and it is a thoughtful gift.

I know I would love to receive a special book with pictures of my family. :)

One year my DD make me 3 stepping stones for my garden. A handprint in the middle of each one - 1 made by each of my 2 daughters and 1 by my granddaughter. They signed their names in the concrete and decorated each one with colored stones.....One of my most favorite gifts of all times.

Sorry about your mom...... Must be a bittersweet day..

I just received the newest issue of Family Fun and they had THE BEST Mother's day gift I have ever seen.

Find a picture of your wife at or around the same age as your daughter. Try to put together an outfit for your daughter to wear that is as much like your wife's in that picture. Recreate the scene by matching the background in the outfit and then have her pose the exact same way. Then frame both the pictures side by side. The result is pretty amazing.

Last year my husband bought me a cricut for Mother's Day!! I had saved up multiple times for one but always ended up using the money toward something for the family so he surprised me! I use my cricut for all sorts of crafts that I never would have thought of before!

We have gone boating on Mother's Day (a cold feat in Wisconsin in May), played baseball as an extended family, gone for drives to get ice cream... I think anything goes.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom. My DH lost his mom a little over 2 years ago. I know it's a tough holiday for him, I keep that in mind. I prefer that we spend the day together, for all of us. He usually lets our oldest pick out a Willow Tree piece for me and they get a card. We head to the park, zoo, whatever. I'm sure your wife will appreciate whatever you and your kids do.
