Hello!
Welcome! This TR has been 14 years in the making! Yes, that's right, 14 years! This trip was the first one my mum and I have taken to WDW together in 14 years! Since I was 14 years old! Yes, it's been awhile! Let me tell you a little bit about us!
Mother - Judi:
This is my mum Judi! Her first time to WDW in 14 years! She had been wanting to go on a tropical vacation over the winter but her friends didn't want to, and neither did her DBF, so she decided to tag along with me! She's not a Disney fanatic but does love Winnie The Pooh and Goofy! Today is her 61st birthday and she has been retired for just over a year!
Daughter - Stacy:
That's me, I'm Stacy. I hadn't been to Disney since December 2008 but I normally go every year. Originally I had planned on taking this trip with some other Disers, but that didn't work out so I was going to go solo! Then mum offered to come...then she offered to pay! I was super surprised and very happy to finally share my laughing place with her again! I'm 28 and I work in retail.
Those are our magical express pictures! But before I get ahead of myself...
Mum and I spent 10 fabulous days at Disney from April 21 - 30, 2010! We stayed at Disney's Carribean Beach Resort and had a great great time! We also learned that we have very different ideas about what constitutes a vacation!
But our trip started before we got to WDW! On April 20, as soon as I finished work, I headed over to my mum's house to pick her up! Once we loaded up her suitcase (which was already packed to the gills!), we were headed to Detroit! We are only about 45 minutes from the Michigan border, so it's easier for us to fly from Detroit than anywhere else...also cheaper!
Our flight the next morning was leaving at 7:25am so we had decided that we would stay overnight at the Howard Johnson's by the airport, and they also offered a park and fly rate so it worked out perfectly!
We stopped in Port Huron, MI for some dinner at Denny's (well, mum had dinner, I had breakfast!) and at Walgreens so my mum could stock up on cigarettes before we got to WDW. Despite how much I bother her about it, she will never quit. By the time we got to our hotel it was about 8:30pm. we checked in and the front desk agent went over how our parking and shuttle worked. We were due to leave for the airport at about 5am. By the time we got settled and showered and into bed, it was after 11pm...the wake up call came at 4:15am. I don't know how I managed it but I did actually sleep!
We took my car back to the secure, gated parking lot and got into the shuttle to the airport! We checked in and got our boarding passes, flew through security and wandered through the terminal to find something to eat. We decided on McDonald's! We both had bacon, egg and cheese biscuit sandwiches and hashbrowns. My mum's DBF would be missing her and she was missing him, so she put his picture up so he could have breakfast with us!
Our flight actually left on time and was very smooth. Mum read her book and I watched "The Hangover" on my iPod. It was about 2 hours and 16 minutes until we landed in Orlando! My mother was very concerned about Magical Express getting our bags, but I told her not to worry. She was concerned about knowing where to go in the airport. I again told her not to worry. She ran outside for a cigarette while I got in line for ME. But, there was no line for ME! I ran outside to grab her and we were ushered straight onto our bus! Mum was very concerned that we got a Disney Cruise Line bus...I told her not to worry about it, that the driver would confirm where we were going. He did so, and she relaxed. We were finally there! I watched the ME video while mum stared out the window asking me when we would be there...
We were dropped off at CBR and went inside the Customs House to check in. Our room was not ready, but the lovely girl behind the desk told us we would recieve a text message by 3pm when our room was ready. We wandered up to Old Port Royale to check things out and freshen up.
As you can see, it was a beautiful day! And we weren't going to wait around for the room! We were off to the Magic Kingdom!
