Mother and Daughter Share Magical Moments! April 21-30, 2010!~update June 28~

I'm another one who agrees Magic Kingdom is so much more magical at night! I love going there in the evening hours!!!!!!!

Love your Wishes pictures....I adore that fireworks show!!!!!

What a wonderful way to spend an evening!!!!! I don't blame you for being sleepy though.....you had QUITE the day!!! :) Were your waits long for those rides that you hit????

Later in the evening the lines weren't bad at all. Especially being a party of one! I seem to always get lucky being pulled ahead in lines! :)

Thanks Jen! I absolutely adore Wishes! They definately weren't the best Wishes photos ever but I think they're okay!

So, you've all had a little itermission and now it is on with the show!

We spent most of our second day at Animal Kingdom! I really really wanted to be there on Earth Day! And just my luck, it happened to be pretty quiet! As many of you probably know, April 22, 2010 was the park's 12th Anniversary! But, there wasn't much special happening...Except that my Dmum was visiting for the first time!:goodvibes

I don't really know why I look so angry in the picture! I wasn't!:confused3

Disney2010029.jpg

My mum LOVED AK! She loved how quiet it was, she loved how spread out it was, she loved all the "foliage", She loved the atmosphere, she loved that there were so many smoking areas! And the closest one to the entrance was near Dinosaur, so that's where we headed first!

Mum thought the ride was a ton of fun and really got a kick out of how scared I am of audio-animatronic dinosaurs! And we both really loved how there was no wait!

After that we headed into DinoRama which my mum loved! She said it reminded her of the old roadside attractions my dad used to take us to on road trips!

Disney2010031.jpg

We went on the rides and my mum thought it was a blast!

Disney2010033.jpg

From there we walked around to Expedition Everest. The wait was about 35 minutes so we got some fast passes and then went over to see the Finding Nemo musical. My mum really enjoyed it but thought it was a little long for her taste. I told her she was crazy! She was also dissappointed that Ellen Degeneres wasn't there to play Dory....:rolleyes1 By the time it was over it was time to head back to Everest for our adventure!

Now, while my mum had been off smoking, a nice lady had tried to tell her all about Expedition Everest...only, I don't think she had ever ridden it herself. She told my mum that the whole thing took place in the dark, that you went backwards before you went upside-down and that the big drop was through a waterfall!:lmao::lmao::lmao: So my mum was a little hesitant!:rotfl2: I had to drag her over to look at the mountain so she could see what it was all about.

Disney2010039.jpg

Of course she loved it once we got off! We really should have bought the picture! It looked like her eyes were going to pop right out of her head!:rotfl:

We decided to grab a little lunch as we headed back toward Africa. Mum got some Egg Rolls from the Yak And Yeti Quick Service, and I got corn dog nuggets and chips from a little stand accross the path. we sat back behind there with a gorgeous view of the Tree Of Life!

Disney2010034.jpg

Now, I should also mention that my mum is fascinated by the Tree Of Life, because the last time she had been to WDW, they were beginning to build it. It was half oilrig, half tree and she was blown away by the final results! I still can't convince her that it isn't a real tree!

Disney2010037.jpg

After lunch, mum was starting to mention how she didn't want to spend much more time in the park, and was ready for a swim at the hotel. I told her she couldn't leave without seeing It's Tough To Be A Bug! I knew she would love it!

Disney2010038.jpg

We donned our honorary bug eyes while mum stood there getting quite a hoot out of the bugs' songs! She made me promise her there were no real bugs inside. I did, and so she told me that she had no reason to be scared then! But that didn't stop her from screaming like a mad woman and grabbing my legs and arms when the spiders dropped from the ceiling or when the stinkbug blew or when we were blasted with acid or any of the other heart-pounding moments! And the special surprise at the end when you have to wait for the bugs to leave the auditorium first!:lmao: She squealed! Oh it was hilarious! I wish you all could have been there!:goodvibes

From there we made our way back up to the exit and hopped on a bus back to CBR! What happened next? You'll find out soon! :)

Ah, I am so glad your mom loved Animal Kingdom! I love it there, too! It really is such a beautifully themed park.

I cracked up when I read your description of your mom at ITTBAB -- that's exactly how Chelsea and Connor were! LOL!

I love AK too, there is something peaceful about it even when it's packed:lmao:

I laughed at your mom squealing on ITTBAB....we went with friends one year and when the "bee sting" came, he screamed like a little girl and I of course laughed and he said "It's not funny, I'm allergic" I was done I was rolling on the floor....great memories

It is no secret that I love Animal Kingdom. I love everything your mom loves about it and more, only I couldn't care less about the smoking sections. I guess I have never paid any attention to where they are, because I don't recall ever being bothered by smoke or smokers as I have been walking around.

I would love to be in Animal Kingdom on an Earth Day when they are having some festivities. I have spoken harshly with myself about why we didn't think ahead and go on the tenth anniversary, because they had awesome things going on then. Maybe we can be there for the 20th or 25th.

Your experience in ITTBAB is a perfect example of why I love Disney World. You were two people who love each other having fun together, being silly together, laughing together... Disney World seems to be able to create opportunities for those moments as well as any place I know. I'm glad you guys had a fun day together. :)

YAY for loving the AK! I'm so glad you and your mom had such a great day there!! I have to tell you I always scoot a little closer to the edge of my seat during certain parts of It's Tough to be a Bug...that just creeps me out sometimes LOL!

All caught up! Looks like a great couple of days! :) I agree, MK is SO much more magical at night. And twilight, especially, is my favorite time at WDW! :cloud9:

Your tradition of first ride on POC has me thinking that I have no traditions (that I'm aware of). I'm going to have to work on that!

Your Wishes pics are awesome!

So glad you had a fun day at Animal Kingdom!! Your description of the woman telling your mum about Everest is hysterical. I was at the hair salon the other day and people were talking about Disney and had NO earthly idea what they were talking about. But I was tired and cranky and just let them go on and on with their nonsense.

Can't wait to see what is next. You both look like you're having a great time!! :)

I was glad that my mum loved AK. Going with DBFF is great, but it is her least favourite park so she doesn't like to spend much time there so ergo, neither do I! I think it was the first time I ever spent an entire morning and afternoon there!

That's hilarious!:rotfl: I suppose I would probably be the same though if I were allergic! It's hilarious how the 3D and 4D effects mess with your brain! Even though you know it's not really there, it's there! Watching my mum grab for the butterflies was hysterical!:lmao:

Oh Memom that is so sweet! You always know just what to say! And you always say it incredibly well! I just called my mum to read her your comment and she thought it was very nice as well!

You know, the smoking sections at all the parks are really in out of the way places which is nice for those of us who are non-smokers! I would just get her there and then go wander around. however, I did notice some new things in those areas thanks to being there with a smoker!

You may not have to wait until the 20th or 25th anniversary! I bet they will probably do something special for their 15th! That's less than 3 years away!

You're right! I'm glad that I know which parts of the show to be prepared for! But I do love to see newbie reactions!

Your Mom looks like she is having a really good time! That is so awesome. :goodvibes

She really was! It was great to see her have such a good time in a place that makes me so happy! It was nice to be able to share it with her again!:goodvibes

Traditions can only begin when you start them C! Mine are all pretty simple! Usually it's POtC first and then Chef Mickey's for dinner for first night...but this trip Chef Mickey's had to wait until the second night! You also have to remember to take a picture with your 3D glasses on!

You know, I think I'm giving up on giving "those people" advice. Half of the time they don't believe you anyway and just tell you that you are wrong. They heard about it from so-and-so, and so-and-so ought to know! So-and-so went to Disneyland 20 years ago!:rotfl2:;) My mum and I heard a girl this exact day at AK saying to her friend (and I quote!): "You know, I finally figured it out! Eeyore is a BEAR!!!, not a llama!":lmao: Oh some people....hello?! "A donkey named Eeyore" is right in the song!

Sounds like you had a great time at AK. We were there on the same day too (4/22). Can't wait to read more!

Hi everyone! Sorry for the delay! We had family up visiting from Indiana for the Memorial Day weekend (for all of you Americans!) so we haven't been around much! But enough waiting! Here's the update!

After a quick swim back at CBR, mum and I headed over to the Contemporary Resort for our dinner with Chef Mickey! We arrived about 45 minutes ahead of our scheduled ADR so I could look in the shops! My DMother of course needed a cigarette break as soon as we arrived, so we headed up to the observation deck. I took photos while she got her nicotine fix.

Disney2010041.jpg

Now, in the next couple of shots it looks as though the castle is on fire!:scared1: But don't worry, it was just that Dream Along With Mickey was happening and the fireworks had just gone off!

Disney2010044.jpg

I bought a cute new t-shirt at the Fantasia shop! You'll see it in the next photos! I love the shops at CR! It's just very open and bright! Someday I'll stay there (Along with all the other places I want to stay...;)) I went and changed into my new shirt and then we checked in for dinner!

Disney2010045.jpg

Thankfully we were part of the first seating so we didn't have to wait very long! Minnie came right along before we even went for our first round of food!
For whatever reason, mum didn't want her picture with Minnie - but I sure did!:woohoo:

Disney2010046.jpg

After Minnie had visited, we went up to the buffet! I didn't take photos of it this time around since I have some already, and it was busy and I was hungry! We ate a ton of food! I had my fill of cornbread and parmesan mashed potatoes and mum enjoyed the roast and the potatoes too! And of course we both had desserts! YUMMO!:yay: Meanwhile, all the characters were out visiting!

Disney2010049.jpg

Mum also didn't want to see Donald, knowing she would see him later at Tusker House! Besides, Donald's friend came over to let him know it was party time! It was time to see if mum could party with us and twirl her napkin!

Disney2010052.jpg

She twirled like an old pro! As we were finishing up dessert, it was finally time to see the Big Cheese himself - Mickey!

With our first fabulous character dinner done, mum was ready for some more park action and so was I! See where we headed next, in the next update! Take Care Everyone!:cutie:

Hey LL....that was what I was going to say!!!!!! ;)

Love the shirt, and I so loved the picture of your Mum twirling the napkin....she was definitely getting into it!!! :)

You both look like you're having the time of your lives....so nice to see....I love the t-shirt too!!!:thumbsup2

LOL I decided to stop at buying only one shirt this trip and I have to tell you it was between the one you were wearing and a pink polo LOL! I ended up with the pink polo but I love that green shirt...so CUTE!!!!

Chef Mickey's for dinner looks like a lot of fun!!!!!!!!

I love the tshirt! Very cute.

The picture of your Mom twirling is adorable!

Thanks LL! Yeah, my mum has her adorable moments!

Hey LL....that was what I was going to say!!!!!! ;)

Love the shirt, and I so loved the picture of your Mum twirling the napkin....she was definitely getting into it!!! :)

She was trying so hard to do it well! I had told her about the time that DBFF and I were there (DBFF can't do the twirl!! It's hilarious to see!), and Minnie gave her trouble for not twirling!

You both look like you're having the time of your lives....so nice to see....I love the t-shirt too!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks! We were having a great time! :yay:

Chef Mickey's for dinner looks like a lot of fun!!!!!!!!

Only one?! ONE?! Wow! That is some major will power! I really liked the pink polo too! I could have bought the whole collection! If only the money tree in my backyard would start growing....;)

Very cute new shirt!!!

You and your mom look like you are having an absolute blast with all the characters!!! :goodvibes

Thanks CP! I do like how my momma has her hand on her hip with Mickey! It looks like she's going to boss him about the kitchen!

First, I was a little behind and am :rotfl: at the woman who was so proud that she figured out Eeyore was a bear and not a llama. :lmao: Seriously. Perhaps these people should not be allowed in the parks. ;)

Love your new t-shirt. I agree, there's something about the shops in the Contemporary that is so inviting. Too cute that you changed right into your new shirt!

Looks like you had a great time with the characters. I had breakfast there with Jen and Paula but I have to say I don't remember any napkin twirling. Perhaps it was too early in the morning. :confused3

Looking forward to more! popcorn::

Hey!! I just found your Tr. How crowded were the dates you picked?

Can't wait to read more! :goodvibes
