Motel 6

Has anyone stayed at Motel 6 at Cocoa Beach? I know it was recommended in Passporter. We need somewhere to stay one night before the cruise and one night after the cruise. We have stayed at Motel 6 in Ohio so I am aware that they are basic. We do not want to stay somewhere that is not safe. We are looking for a safe, clean place to stay that is within walking distance of the beach. Can anyone tell me if this motel is ok. Is it close to the beach? Is it close to Ron Jons? Is it close to restaurants? I would greatly appreciate any information that anyone has to share.

We stayed there in April. I booked through Orbitz, it was the cheapest I could get for that hotel. I think I got the room for 41.00 on a Friday night. The room we got was HUGE. There was a microwave and refrigerator in the room. But you are right, it's very basic. There is a pool but not much else.

The beach is a 'block' or so down, it's not 'on the beach' but you can certainly walk there. It wasn't terribly warm the April day we were there so we did not venture on that windy day.

Next time I will check in much later and spend more time in the Disney area. We went to Ron Jons and ate dinner at Pizza Hut but other than that we were too excited about the cruise to be interested in much else.

It is right next door to a Waffle House. You can walk (though we drove around) to the Ron Jon Surf Shop, a grocery store, other restaurants, and other shopping.

You get off the ship pretty early in the morning, any chance you can book a rental car for the day and head to Disney rather than book another night at a Motel 6? I don't know if I would enjoy a Motel 6 AFTER a cruise but I could certainly tolerate bare/minimum BEFORE.
