Most underrated/underappreciated actor/actress...

A deffinate honorable mention-Sam Elliott.I love his acting and his voice as A commentater is even better.Highly underated..

Vincent Donofrio! :thumbsup2

Have you ever seen his turn on "Homicide" as an accident victim? It was AMAZING, one of the best things I have ever seen on network TV.

agnes!

I really enjoying watching Isla Fisher, though have to admit, Confessions of a Shopaholic wasn't her best work ever. "Definitely, Maybe" though was top notch. I loved her in Wedding Crashers too.

I have to admit that I really love Ricky Gervais, too. He's the only actor that I feel is stereotyped, but it's ok with me. His typical roles are so funny that even though he plays the same basic type characters, he's always hilarious. I loved him in Ghost Town the most.

Jennifer Jason Leigh and Nathan Fillion (he was the star of Firefly TV series and the doctor in Waitress).

Gary Oldman. Many times, he's virtually unrecognable in a role. LOVED him first as Sid Vicious, Dracula and Commisioner Gordon in Batman.:cutie:

Mary McCormack.....Even though it was only on for 2 years, she was outstandign in Murder One and than later as a guest star on ER and as a regular in season 6 and 7 of West Wing and she is amazing on In Plain Sight

Jack Klugman...Check out his work on several episodes of the original Twilight Zone series. Wow, just *wow*. If you've only ever seen him on the Odd Couple TV series or maybe Quincy, MD...his range of work on the Twilight Zone is astounding. he did some amazing stuff, but his problem was he made it look 'easy', like Gary Cooper or John Wayne.

And I told his son so, too.

agnes!

i enjoy jack klugman's work as well but i would'nt consider him underrated, after all he's won 3 emmys with an additonal 7 nominations, a golden globe (and an additional nomination), and has been nominated for both a bafta and a tony.

Hilary Duff! You don't hear much from her anymore, and I still think she's a brilliant actress.

Steve Buscemi
Gary Oldman
Jeff Daniels

I see alot of you agree with Buscemi and Oldman. :thumbsup2

The bit part in "Billy Madison" makes me laugh everytime.

Courteney Cox. She was the only "Friend" that didn't get an Emmy nomination and I think she absolutely deserved at least a nomination. I think people often overlook how good she is.

Maggie Gylenhall. Heck, even her brother, Jake, is underrated to an extent. Steve Buscemi is a good one as is Paul Giamatti. Phillip Seymour Hoffman who finally got some recognition for Capote, but has been brilliant in everything I've seen him in. Emille Hirsch, though he's gotten a lot of recognitiion, I think he will be in it for the long haul. I can see great things coming from him, pretty much ever since I saw him in that skateboard movie a few a years ago.

I also love Gary Sinise and William H. Macy. For actors I would also add:

Ed Harris
Chris Cooper
Viggo Mortenson

For actresses I would say Laura Linney, although she does seem to get nominated for her work she rarely gets the attention of other stars.

Mary McCormack.....Even though it was only on for 2 years, she was outstandign in Murder One and than later as a guest star on ER and as a regular in season 6 and 7 of West Wing and she is amazing on In Plain Sight

Yes, she's good, and not the ordinary Hollywood type.

Nick Stahl
Neal McDonough
Michael Wincott
Gale Harold

I predict Jake Gyllenhaal will be one of the greatest actors of this time. He just needs a little more aging and to take more of the right roles. I also see good things happening for Mather Zickel.
