I upgraded to the Disney premier credit card last year and am now questioning whether I can get more rewards with another cc company. When I had just the "regular" Disney cc I would get occasional offers for 5 or 6x the reward dollars. Now that I have switched I have not received any special offers.

I am always hearing about other CC companies giving 3-5% cash back on gas, restaurants and groceries (only2% with Disney premier).

We have and excellent credit score and pay the bill off every month.

Any suggestions on a cc that gives the most cashback/ rewards?

I have a Discover and get cashback on everything I purchase. Also every quarter you have certain places (restaurants are this quarter. I think maybe movies as well but I can't remember) where you get 5%. They also have done specials where one month in the quarter they add a place. I like it because its cash money I can get, not Disney Dollars or flight points, but cash. I can deposit it into my bank account, use it to buy a gift card or purchase items in the 'shopping mall'. Also they have some gift cards where you use $40 cashback and get a $50 card, or $10 bonus and you get a $20 card. I am like you and pay the bill off every month so I like having "extra" money!! :woohoo:

I am also a big discover fan. We apply our cash back bonus to our bill occasionally and we also like the 5% cash back that changes quarterly just be aware that there is a cap on the 5% offers sometimes 500 or 1000 max. overall a big fan though.

Last month I decided to go on vacation to Disney in April. I figured I would apply for a few credit cards to use the upfront bonus to help off set the cost. One was an American Express that offered me $200 travel rewards after I spend $250 plus 12 or 15 months interest free. I paid for my hotel with it and will be getting my $200 in the form of a statement credit. Another American Express gives me 5% cash back on groceries, up to $6000 a year, and 3% back on gas. After spending $1000 I will get a $100 credit. The third one I applied for was a citi Visa can't remember the rewards categories but after spending $500 I will get $150 in credit.

I have the Chase Freedom card.
I get 1% back per $1 spent.
Quarterly there is 5% back - currently it is Drug Stores, gas, Groceries.
Next quarter it is Restaraunts, Movies
The following quarter is Gas, Kohl's, Theme Parks

And for some reason I am getting a bonus of 10% bonus on all purchases:confused3

I can spend $20 and get a $25 gift card

Rate is 10%.

Chase Freedom no longer has 5% cash back for groceries, at least not for 2013.I made most of my cash back on groceries, sad to see that go. Discover does not have groceries on their 2013 calendar either.

I have the regular Chase Freedom and no other accounts with Chase, maybe that is why the cash back categories are different. Mine this quarter is Gas, drug stores and Starbucks.

Discover had 5% cash back for on line purchases last year Oct-December capped at $1500. Loved that bonus, did a ton of Christmas shopping on line.

I like that I can use my Discover Rewards on Amazon and Chase Freedom has added that option recently. Saving up for a new digital camera to take on my next trip to Disney. :-)

chase sapphire preferred:thumbsup2 SWA visa,:thumbsup2 both extremely excellent cards- esp. for offsetting travel costs (in the thousands, not a couple hundred bucks lol) flyertalk, millionmilesecrets, etc etc- lots to read about:thumbsup2

The bonus is usually if you have bank accounts with Chase...%10 with eash transaction.

I use Discover, there are some nice sounding deals w/some others too. I just use Discover because I have everything set up already and it is convenient.

I use the Capital One Venture Card - we charge everything to it and pay it off each month. Most people think its only for travel, but you can also get the same redemption rate on gift cards. The purchase eraser is great as you can use it to wipe off purchase up to 90 days after they occur. I keep a running tally and over the past few years we earn about 2.5% back. Also a small trick, if you are staying on property you can link the card to your room key, then use that for purchases in the parks. Then when it hits your card it comes through as a travel expense which can be wiped off with the purchase eraser. Note if you swipe the card directly in the park it hits as entertainment.

The best I know (and use) is Discovercard. Lot's of cashback bonus offers. If you buy online they offer many extra cashback options also. I just got 10% cashback buying at drugstore.com

Here's what I have

AMEX Blue Cash Preferred:
Get 6% cash back at U.S. stand-alone supermarkets, 3% cash back on gasoline at U.S. stand-alone gas stations, 3% cash back at select major department stores; and 1% cash back on other purchases.

Chase Freedom:
1% on everything + there are Quarterly bonus categories April-June 5% Restaurants, Lowes and Movies. There is also the 10 Point bonus on every purchase + a 10% Bonus on top of earned points if you have a checking account with them.

Target Red Card
5% off

I have found the AmEx Fidelity to be the best bet. 2% on all purchases across the board.

No "this month X is 5% back" stuff. I can't keep track anyway.

I love my SWA visa. I also pay it off every month and we earn almost a one way seat to MCO every month. For example: I just booked flights for end of summer at 6180 pts pp one way. Our typical month of spending earns us 3000-5000 pts.

Flights are the biggest cost of travel for us so it's nice to get a break there. We definitely get our money's worth from our $59 annual fee.

All 4 of us just flew free one way to MCO for a long weekend in March. Dh & ds flew free RT to San Fran in Sept. Ds flew free one way to Seattle last summer. We have enough again for all 4 of us to fly to MCO in Sept.

It just keeps racking up. :woohoo:

If you bank at Bank of America, they have a very good card. 3% on gas and groceries, special offers for higher % and they give cash back bonus +10% if you deposit directly to a BOA account. Every time I reach $25 worth of credit points $27.50 is deposited into my checking account. I love that!

I still have the original DV, it's not as good as it used to be , but we still get some Disney points to use every year. I refused to upgrade and pay, but that's just me.

I also have Discover, which as others have said is pretty good with rewards. We usually cash out for GC for Yak & Yetti ($40 for each $50 GC) before our trips and you can do the same with RFC. Plus discover has a bonus on money spent on theme parks in the summer.

I use Chase Disney Visa for most things and Discover for others.

I like Discover as you go to their site and connect to prefferd sites and you can get 5% to 20% back. If you are using a online site anyway might as well go this route.

A big I found was to use the card for everything possible. Besides house payment, car payment and groceries as my store doesnt take cards I use it for everything.

I looked in the Fidelity card but the rewards have to be deposited into a Fidelity account - an IRA if I remember correctly. I do have a rollover IRA with them but would have to open a new account for the rewards and the amounts wouldn't be that big to make it worth while. But if you were already contributing to an IRA I think this would be a good way to go.

I like cash reward cards and not travel rewards. I travel too much on business and don't like to travel that much on my own time. And I like to apply the rewards as a statement credit. I just got a Capital One cash rewards card where you earn 1% plus a 50% bonus each year so it's effectively earning 1.5%. I also have the Chase Freedom and Discover. I will use these for the their 5% bonus categories each quarter. I keep a sticky in my wallet which shows what the current 5% bonus categories are so I'll know what card to use. And of course the Target and Lowes cards for 5% off at those stores.
