Most Overrated Restaurants

Most of them. Seriously, it would be shorter to list the ones that aren't. This is one reason that we choose to eat almost all our sit down meals offsite.

Interesting thought! I guess we all make such a big deal about the dining as being such a big part of our disney trips. Guess we are always looking for the ultimate experience!

I would say Pecos Bills, Sunshine Seasons, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Artist Point (not bad just not as good as what many seem to think)

Why do you like these two so much? I find the food to be average at best.

Ohana the meat is overcooked and dry. Can't compare to some of the local Brazilian steakhouses for the same price.

Boma's dinner besides the fresh cut meat is not very good. The breakfast is much better.

Yes, we both have our opinions, don't we? In all our many trips to 'Ohana we have never had a bad meal - the meats have never been dry, we get the steak to order (med rare) - love the salad, noodles and dessert! The service is great, entertainment terrible ;) but otherwise we absolutely love this place!

It's true other Brazilian steakhouses are better for the price (we have a great one here locally) but we're talking 'Disney' here - not comparing them with outside prices. If that were the case 'everything' 'every restaurant' is grossly inflated in price! :(

Boma has such an unusual variety of dishes. DH loves their soups and salads - I like most of their dishes, but it's dh's favorite restaurant, so therefore one of our favorites. ;)

Boma
Chef Mickey's
LeCellier
and I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but we weren't that impressed with what we had at BOG for lunch. We'll give dinner a try next time (if we can get a ressie), but we didn't think what we got at BoG was that wonderful.

No need for flaming - we are all giving our opinions, which is what this is all about - everyone has one! ;)

As for BOG, it is no different as far as those that love it, those that don't. We happen to love it (the lunches, not dinners). Have been several times and our favorites there are the braised pork and french onion soup.

Crystal Palace--just a loud chaotic mess with small plates and not great food.

50s Prime Time--seems to be a favorite of many at DHS. This was probably the only meal on property we've ever had where the food was truly just bad. Not "not great" but actually bad.

Otherwise, a few of the aforementioned are some of our favorites including Boma, Coral Reef, Via Napoli, and Yak & Yeti.

For me its Whispering Canyon and Mama Melrose. Had horrible time at both and would only returned if someone begged me to (and only then if the person begging was under the age of 10). Chef Mickeys isn't the best but I will go back just because my children love the characters.

Le Cellier.

I will add Chef Mickey even though I've never eaten there, but every time I see it from the Monorail, it reminds me of a daycare on a day when children were allowed to eat their weight in sugar: MAYHEM!

My top choice will not be popular here as almost everyone I see says this place is the end all be all.......

Tusker House Breakfast. I have never seen so many people rave about average food. The food isn't necessarily bad, but it isn't anything special. Throw on top of it that you pay more per person than say Cape May or CP makes this my choice for most overrated.

Mine would be Le Cellier. Not that it was bad, but it wasn't some magical experience that some people make it out to be. It's a restaurant that is very dark, very cramped, and they serve steak. I had a better steak at Hollywood Brown Derby. I also make a better steak just about weekly here at home.

For us it's Pecos Bill's - that's a never again restaurant for us. Everything was so bland and even off hour / slow time of year was madness finding seats to eat

Pecos Bill and Cosmic Rays are awful. Last time we had Cosmic Rays it was dirty and the food was poor. McDonalds/Wendys certainly have better food at about half the cost.

Boma - we had dinner here on our last trip and were very disappointed with the whole experience.

I wasn't impressed with our last experience (Oct 2013) at the princess breakfast at Akerhaus. The food was meh and the princesses were hurrying around. Not a lot of interaction IMO. Our time there previously was in 2007 and it has gone downhill. Big time. My husband had never experienced that meal and was less then impressed, especially when the bill came. :rolleyes2

Pecos Bill's! Also, everyone always says how any restaurant in the WS is one of your best options. I've tried almost all of them & I disagree! My opinion is based on food quality & not ambience. I was really not impressed with Biergarten, Teppan Edo, Marrakesh or San Angel Inn.

I did not understand the hype about the ribs at Flame Tree or the pulled pork sandwich there. I really enjoy the turkey sandwich best.

I was not impressed with Columbia Harbor House (I got the lobster roll which had no taste w/excellent homemade chips on the side).

I did not care for the steak at lunch at Kona Cafe. It was not seasoned & lukewarm.

I had to stop getting the salt rim on my margaritas from La Cava & also stop eating the cucumbers after the drink b/c something was making me consistently . Since I've started doing this, I've been fine.

Among my favorite places are Raglan Road, Rose & Crown & Kimono's. :thumbsup2

I agree with the posters who named Coral Reef! Terrible service! The food was ok, but I've never waited so long for it. I also think we had the table farthest from the tanks, so nothing entertaining about it for us.

Also agree with Crystal Palace. The only draw is an early morning reservation to get into the park before opening.

And Via Napoli...it was just plain gross. My DH got chicken Parmesan which was still frozen in the middle. Nice.

Our faves are O'Hana, Boma (breakfast), and Akershus.

To each his/her own. For every person that likes a place there's another who hates it!
