Most over-hyped things on dis...

Where I do really see it being a matter of personal preference, the things I am not as wowed over as other DisBoard Members are:

Crocs
Messenger Bags
Lime Green Anything
Coronado Springs Pepper Market

For those people who love the things I do not....well, that is what makes the World a more interesting place to be. If we all thought alike, we would be robots. ;)

My personal list of things i avoid that other's love :
Dole whips
WCC
Crocs
Character autographs
Mickey toiletries
mickey wake up calls
FOTLK
laundry
Fantasmic

I don't want to hurt any feelings but I feel that the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is over rated. Everyone comes out looking the same as if it were an assembly line.

I'm with you on this one. Seriously, all the kids look alike, even if they are wearing a different dress. Dare I say mini-streetwalkers?? :firefight

#2 -- Fanny packs -- this has got to be one of the single most unattractive accessory/bag every created by man. It's like a beacon of light shone upon your mid section, highlighting all your waistly imperfections. Of course, I'm saying that as someone that is a newly converted croc sporter (though the only crocs I'll be seen wearing in public are the mickey crocs..I can at least say: hey, these have mickey heads on them that makes them ok).

I couldn't agree more! Not only are fanny packs highlighting the worst spot on your body, they really can't hold all that much that a nice backpack couldn't. And a backpack is much more attractive.

I did buy Crocs for my DD7, but I tried on a pair and found them to be the most hideous thing when you enlarge them to fit my boats (or really any adult feet.) They are like the jelly shoes of modern times.

One thing I found overrated is the All Star's. I prefer POP over any of those hotels.

Overly sensetive DISers ready to pounce on the unsuspecting newbie.

:rotfl: Ah, brings me right back to when I was "Earning my Ears". I apparently stepped on some people's toes over a question (not even gonna resurrect the topic since it would be OT) and got pounced on like only fresh meat could be. Cut the newbies some slack, pplz! ;)

5) How bad Stitch's Great Escape is: Come on, it's not great, but the reviews here make it sound like we should all grab tourches and burn the "sorry excuse for a ride" down. Heck, I think it's better than Alien Encounter. Sorry.

:rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: this is the funniest reply I read all day!! I was in tears laughing.

I thought I was the only one saying after reading some of the reviews for this ride, "gee, was the ride really THAT bad? I'm feeling sorry for the poor ride :sad1: .

TURKEY LEGS!!!!! I worked at a fest here in Chgo. every summer in college. I would watch people feast on those turkey legs.....I just don't get it. Don't get me wrong, I like meat....not a vegetarian......just DON'T GET THE TURKEY LEG HYPE!

It was just OK and I luvs my Stitch. It just wasn't the "awesome" thing that I was led to believe it was... like Soarin. I waited for almost 2 hours for that thing expecting the ride to be made of gold or something for all the hype and well, it wasn't. lol But Soarin WAS better than Stitch ;)

As big a Disney fanatic as I am, I only recently joined this board because of its tough reputation. I lurked for a while before testing the waters. I'm still wearing my life jacket, just in case. But so far, I haven't been a victim of the bad rep hype.

I guess i just expect it to be an amusement ride and not the million-dollar-change-my-entire-outlook-on-life-fly-me-to-the-moon-and pay-my entire-mortgage-off-completely experience. Sometimes when we expect it to be that, (or if we stand in line for 2 hours :lmao: ) we are so disappointed when it isn't and we want to "grab a torch and burn down the sorry excuse for a ride:rotfl:". (Still laughing about that one! I wish I had said that first!)

Over-Planning!

Yes, we're all planners here. We like to have our trip all mapped out. We know where we're going each day, where we're eating, etc. But why do people want to plan out every single thing they'll be doing at every single moment? Do you really need to make a list of rides and attractions in the order you'll be doing them? Doesn't that take some of the fun out of it? I agree that you need to go into each park with an idea of what you'll do first so you don't wander aimlessly. You need to know which attractions require getting FastPasses early because they might run out. But I don't get these precise, moment-by-moment schedules that people intend to follow. Is that really fun?:confused3

Crocs
Anything involving Disney food: DDP/free dining/the food in general
the 40% PIN code - stop whining already!

But mostly Crocs. I don't wear anything on vacation that you wouldn't see me wearing on the streets of Seattle.

I love this thread, Walt Disney World, and the DIS!

Yup - I'm directionally-challenged and it helps me navigate the parks! And my mind goes absolutley blank when I don't know what to do next. (Did that make sense??? I think that I may be having a blonde moment...:rotfl:)

Doesn't that take some of the fun out of it?
Nope - I don't have to think when I get there - just act!

But I don't get these precise, moment-by-moment schedules that people intend to follow. Is that really fun?:confused3

Yes! ::yes:: Because planning the trip is half the fun! But we use our plan as a guideline -- if it's not working, we don't use it. And it's always nice to have it to fall back on. It's not written in cement!

Hi. Glad to hear that I'm not the only one who feels that way. Thanks. :thumbsup2

I couldn't agree with you more! I can't see making ressies at all of the 'best' restaurants when I am supposedly on vacation and trying to enjoy myself! If I knew I had to be somewhere at a certain time then I wouldn't feel like I was on vacation, but sitting at work waiting for the next darn conference call to begin:scared1: ! I want to be on vacation at Disney and enjoy every minute of it I can.

1. Crocs
2. People using the term "ressies" and not typing out reservations... it's five more characters, and no, it's doesn't look "cute."
3. MNSSHP/IASW/HISTA, etc. abbreviations. Really? C'mon.
Edit: Oh, and the whole DD/DH/DS, etc. It's so... soccer mommish trying to be internet savvy. It's okay to type out daughter, husband, wife, and son :)

Priceless bavaria. I love the lady who said her husband bought his crocs in NY and wore them the whole time they were there. Apparently Crocs aren't unstylish in NY and Paris. Seems that they are all the craze now. :lmao:
