Every post turns into a debate. Where have you been? :rotfl:

Even the post with pictures of WDW food turned into a debate. :rotfl2:

I just think the people of The DIS are just debating fools.
Sorry, I just meant that we couldn't just answer the question by posting slogans. We have to argue over it all. I'm sure it will be a matter of time till this thread gets closed.

Wow, pictures of food turned into a debate??? How does that happen...?

While I'm in no way advocating the wearing of offensive T-shirts such as "Future MILF" or "Best ride at Disney", I found myself wondering something while reading through this thread.

What would the reaction be, if one of our Gay DISers were to post that he/she was approached at WDW by a parent who found his/her "Support Gay Rights" T-Shirt to be offensive?

Or, what if one of our Christian DISers were approached by a parent that thought their child's "Jesus Christ is the Savior of man" t-shirt was offensive and inappropriate?

I remember post 9/11, I was walking through a mall and saw a shirt that said "Air Raid: Kills thousands of Arabs dead." I'm not Arabic or even close to it, but I couldn't help thinking how if I were Arabic I'd find that shirt very offensive. Yet, everyone that passed by and read the shirt laughed at it. Some even stopped and bought it.

The point is, what you find offensive, the next person might find humorous and the person after that might find absolutely awesome.

Are those shirts appropriate? No, but people could argue shirts that advocate Gay marriage (I'm sure you've seen the "I'm not a Lesbian, but my girlfriend is..." t-shirts) aren't appropriate. People could argue shirts that praise Christianity aren't appropriate. And people have argued that sleeveless shirts, bikini tops and low-cut jeans aren't appropriate.

I think in this PC world we live in, there's always something that someone will take offense to. Everybody has different emotions, different opinions. To you, that shirt that says "Save the Blue Whale" may mean a lot, but to the person whose dad was killed by a blue whale while fishing might not see it the same way.

Just wanted to throw in my $.02.
I don't buy it. You go to Disney for the Disney experience. You don't go to advertise yourself. Most people don't care. Some might be offended.

Sometimes those t-shirts ARE appropriate. Gay Pride shirts for Gay Days. Christian t-shirts for Night of Joy. Its part of the spirit of the event.

But until Disney has an oral sex day, the t-shirt mentioned by the original poster is way out of line.

Why does anyone feel that its necessary to be a billboard at Disney? And worse...why do some of those billboards have to say "I'm inconsiderate"

Go Robin, Go!

I too, have tossed people from our office for offensive clothing (with my employer's blessing). I try to be as non-threatening as possible but firm. I mean, what are some of these people thinking? We are not at a rock concert or a mud truck rally!
I'm glad my employer does this because the occasional shirt or hat comes in that is pretty appalling and we don't need our clients having to explain things to their children. He does it so that he, his wife and his employees don't have to be exposed to such tacky and trashy behavior and quite frankly we don't want their business or their presence if they will not dress appropriately.
Oh, I also turn people in to the CMs for the same!
Flame on! I go to Disney for certain things and offensive clothing is not one of them. If Disney allowed it, I would go with the flow. For the parents who allow this trash to be worn by their kids- shame on you and your pathetic parenting.

I know what you mean. I was thinking the same thing, then I posted my long "debate-ish" post. LOL

I wasn't chastising you. I was just picking.

If they want slogans, I can give them slogans. :rotfl:

We have a store at the mall that sells nothing but borderline offensive shirts.

Oh ... I knew it would become a debate, LOL! Opinions are like belly buttons: eveyone has one. I originally did want to hear some other slogans that were "out there", but the debate is fine with me too. There is no reason to have this thread closed as there have been no personal attacks.

FWIW, I am very "liberal minded". I find it amusing that I can agree 100% with this:

There is appropriate behavior for specific places and times. When everyone participates in the spirit of the particular event then everyone has a better time. You don't bring a boom box to a baseball game. You don't wear a swimsuit to an opera. You don't wear a "4 more years of Bush" shirt to Kerry rally. And you don't flaunt sex at Disney.

from someone with "Freeper" in their name! :rotfl2: Thanks for the backup, Kidd!

My oh my - maybe I'm just too old and out of the loop, but I have no clue what "Future MILF" means? I'm curious, but since it must be offensive, I'm not sure I want to know!

Mother I'd Love To ... well you know the rest.

I'm staying out of the debate portion of this thread but here's a couple for you:

Tiny little black shirt with a beautiful red rose applique reads: "Life is a Bed of Roses but Watch Out for the ...." :rotfl2:

Yellow t-shirt with colorful Hawaiian lei reads: "Get Lei'd Island Style"

While I wouldn't wear the first out of the house (at least at my age) the second I think is kind of cute.

Wow, Robinb! I admire you for what you did. While I would have been extremely offended and embarassed, I probably wouldn't have had the guts to confront them about it. I might have said something to a CM, though.

I work in the judicial system and one day as I was returning to the courthouse after lunch, I saw a man leaving the building wearing a t-shirt that said something like, "Women are like tile flooring. If you lay them right, you can walk on them for years!" Arrrrggggghhhhh!!!!! Where is the respect these days?!? :sad2:

:rotfl2: I must not be using the right kind of grout, cause we "practice" alot but GOD help ME if I ever tick her off cause she is not shy about letting me know it!

Well, I'm assuming this is an honest question, and since it is, I'll give an honest answer...but Bush supporters might want to cover their eyes and not read any further:

"GWB...4 more years!"

That's the most offensive shirt I've ever seen anywhere. Truly. :)

 Not as offensive as "Kerry For President" ......talk about a slap in the face of every VietNam Vet on earth!

OK, here is my .02 worth....It all boils down to people not taking responsibility for themselves!!! And it starts with the parents!!!! What I can't figure out is us 40 -50 year old parents were raised with the fear of a neighbor yelling at us or telling our parents on us, or fear of the police!!! So why did we not instill that fear in our children??? These kids these days have no respect for the police or anyone else(can you tell I am married to a police officer?).For a parent to let a child out of their house with that t-shirt on!!! I have a warped sense of humor but there is a time and a place!!And Yes, I want my kids to live in a bubble!! It is a sick world out there!! Us parents have to take back controll of our children!! Get more involved with your kids, know who their friends are and know what they are wearing!!! The other problem is the kids and adults who wear these shirts do not care what other people think!!! and chances are the parents are too busy to know anything about their child!! OK, I could go on and on... Opps, that was more than .02 sorry! :flower:

The worst shirt my son owns says "Does not play well with others".
Guess we're not very "out there".

Right, because every Vietnam vet on earth has the exact same opinions on every single thing. :rolleyes2:

My BIL is a Vietnam vet and voted for Kerry. I'm sure that lots of them did, and lots of them didn't. They can't be stereotyped any more accurately than any other group of people.

Oh please. Spare us the preaching.

My kids have lots and lots of opportunity to live life outside the "bubble". They can learn "tolerance and coping skills" just about anywhere else (school, the beach, the mall, etc). But on an expensive Disney vacation I want my kids to enjoy childhood.

I AM A VIETNAM VET, I know in my heart you are right, there were some who voted for him. I also know that alot of us fought and died to give you the freedom to diagree with me. So don't preach to me and I will try to refrain from preaching to you, although I believe I have earned that right to some extent.

How much is THAT "plus" gonna cost? Can I get a Fastpass?

Freedom of speech has nothing to do with this issue. Private businesses like Disney can regulate this type of thing on their own property. (Yes, I am a lawyer, thanks for asking.) Kind of like talking during a movie . . . but hey, that's my rant, I'll save it for another thread on another board.

That said -- there is no way I would have the guts to confront a group of strangers. Who knows who has a danged gun these days? If the screeners at the gate missed the T-shirt, did they miss the knife too? Who knows?

My mom would do it though. Fearless old German lady. Wish I had time to tell you all the story of my mom and the Tigers fan.

And those FCUK shirts drive me nuts. My daughter is learning to read and spells everything to me. Hasn't happened yet, but it will someday:

"Daddy, what does F-C-U-K spell?"
"It spells, 'I'm an idiot,' sweetie."

Sooooo defensive. Geez. Where does that come from? All I was trying to say is that if I can't talk to my kids about sex comfortably, then who will? They are not going to be offended, traumatized, or upset over something as trivial as a T-shirt. Nor would it ruin our vacation or upset anyone for the day. They have been raised better than that. And I agree totally with whoever said that someone will always find something to be offended about.

Our differences are what make us unique! That is why I stress "LIVE AND LET LIVE". Post on....feel free to express yourself, but don't slam those that do the same.

And Jack Splat...you are right on Buddy!

Funny none of the "conservatives" have mentioned all of the sex references in Disney films.......
