Do you think it would help my chances for getting Photopass if I mention my three years of formal photography training? I have a lot of background in photography and had no idea Photopass was even a choice until a few days ago. Haha.

From what I understand, They ask if you have experience using DSLR cameras so I would consider this a plus. They really want to know if you can handle carrying the heavy equipment for 8 hours a day in the FL heat. If you are interested in this role I would make it one of your "High Interest" role, as they usually only ask questions regarding a few roles.
