Most fun/best sit-down place at Disney MGM???

Our kids are 5 and 7...what is the best place for a sit down meal at DisneyMGM Studios?

We've never been before, and we're only spending one day....so what one restaurant is not to be missed?

Which place is most fun?

And which place has the best food?

50's Prime Time Cafe is the most fun i've EVER had at a restaurant. it's like you're back in the 50's, set the table, elbows off the table, finish your vegetables type of place. and they really play it up. it's so much fun! and the food is good too. i've had the shrimp coctail, fried herb cheese, roasted pepper (multiple times), the smores dessert, and a couple of the drinks too. so good! i love it there

I agree! They really give the kids the power and let the parents have it. It is so funny. Just warn them ahead a time it is all in fun!

50s Prime Time is good for interaction and the food.

Sci Fi Dine Inn also has a very different atmosphere. It's a drive in movie theatre inside. You sit in cars. The problem with the kids is that the individual seats in the cars only seat two so the four of you would have to be split up. We never found that a problem since we could talk between us jsut fine (even with a lone "hitchhiker" in the back seat). Others have a problem with the food but the burgers and onion rings are good and we go for the atmosphere more than the food anyway.

I love the staff here. Sort of like an Ed D'Bevicks in chicago where they tell you what they think. Our waiter made my son set the table and corrected kids with manners. Some other waitress fed hubby green beans when he didn't eat them. Very fun.

The desert menu is on a view master.

I think SCI FI would be better for those ages. How often can you watch old sci fi movies while you eat. Plus the food is served on a Frisbee/ Sand bucket (or at least it was last time we were there)

I would definitely go with 50's Prime Time also, kids love it, and so do us big kids

Sci-Fi has a neat atmosphere, my DD8 loved it, but the food and service was so horrible I don't think I could go back again. Glad we gave it a shot but NOT a good dining experience at all. By far the worst we've ever had at Disney.

We loved Sci Fi for the atmosphere and it was a great place to cool off and relax. The food and service were not so good, but I've heard if you stick to burgers, fries, and shakes it's ok. Also, they have the glow in the dark ice cubes which my kids had to have. They are really fun.

I think you cannot go wrong with either Sci Fi or Prime Time. Sci Fi is the one and only restaurant I have been to for each of my eight trips to WDW. We have always had good food (stick to the burgers, shakes and onion rings) and good service. I also love Prime Time. They are both something you cannot really experience at home as far as atmosphere. I think Prime Time has a somewhat better menu and its a better deal on the DDP (if that applies to you). But Sci Fi is very relaxing and the campy movie flicks are a riot. Also, if you have anyone in your party that is shy Prime Time can be a problem. I saw two ladies there last December clearly having a miserable time and they even at one asked the waiter to just leave them alone. They would have been way better off at Sci Fi!

Sci Fi is also a great place to have a nice, quiet, relaxing meal. Everyone is watching the screen!

I know most don't feel this way, but our family of 5 much prefers the Sci-Fi over 50's. We've been to both 3 times. Now, we do stick with basic foods at the Sci-Fi, and we only go at lunch. The burgers are big, juicy, and delicious, and the milkshakes and the hot fudge sundaes are scrumptious.
The atmosphere just adds to the experience for us. Our kids enjoyed watching the big screen far better than being told to keep their elbows off the table!

We were at the PrimeTime Cafe the last week of August. Our waiter was "Uncle Tom." He was the best. We laughed as a family through the entire meal. At one point he litterally jumped through the kitchen window! It was the most fun I have had at any restaurant!

I work for a company called Glow Inc that specializes in glow in the dark pigments, and I have never heard or seen glow in the dark ice cubes.

Would you mind telling me what they looked like?

I don't have a picture of the exact one from Disney but here is a link to a company that has them. I'm sure they are the same ice cubes. They are pictured in the middle. You bang one side to turn them on and you bang another to turn it off. The battery doesn't last very long.

We just returned from 50's Prime Time Diner and I have to say that it is the best place for kids! The waitresses get very into role playing. The table next to us with 2 little kids had so much fun. They didn't stop laughing throughout the whole meal. The food was great too!!

I would say 50's Prime Time because of interaction with waiters, etc. I don't think Brown Derby would mean anything to kids. Personally, the one and only time we were there, the food was awful. However, we are willing to give it another try next year just in case we had a bad experience.

I LOVE ED DEBEVICS!!!!!! Especially their .35 cent hot fudge sundae! Ya always gotta have dessert!
