Most Expensive / Moist Exhausting Continued - Final thoughts and wrap-up

Upon closer inspection, I believe I made an error:sad2:. It looks like three to me now too. The image I was questioning was this one which I now see isn't Judy (her tank top is different:headache:)

Okay. Yep, not her. At least it wasn't "hair confusion" this time. ;)

Well, with that, it's time to crown Jenbear the winner of this round! :cheer2:

Congrats, Jenbear!

This picture ranks right up there with your Spaceship Earth and Marv meeting ones! You should seriously consider using one of them for your avatar!

They're that good, huh?

At least she was enthusiastic, unlike the man sitting behind her...:rolleyes1

Yeah, that guy was lame!

Sigh, there are only three. Jen, you're obviously more adept at this than I am so I bow to your worthy skills.:cheer2:

What sportsmanship...brings a tear to my eye.

Double sigh. Just when I think it's in my grasp, I lose it. Again.:headache::laughing: I'm noticing a trend here now...

Hang in there, you'll get it. Your stalking paid off and you were the first to post, but you juuuust missed the count.

A little dejected, we slowly walked out of the park. At the exit, the cast members waving goodbye to us with those big, oversized, Mickey-glove-hands helped lift our spirits a little...

... As soon as the driver opened the bus door, and my kids were about to step up onto the bus, we heard a "boom" and saw a flash of light from fireworks in the park

Well, they always wave goodbye at me when I leave the park... but I've never had a full pyrothecnic show just to bid me farewell... seems someone is really a Disney Celebrity :snooty: :rotfl:

A perfect way to finish a last day in the parks... finding what not to miss the next trip :goodvibes

Loved the update :thumbsup2

Sorry about wishes but sometimes kids do know best! I can't believe that you haven't been on the people mover before. I go on it probably every time I go except for the time that it was 38 degrees and didn't need more cold.:rotfl:

I believe you're right, but not the first with that answer. Which is pretty common for you, if I'm not mistaken.

Yup - Back to the typical results for me. :rotfl2: Not surprising, I am late all over this week. We are getting close to summer and I actually have work to do at work. :lmao:

The way these pictures look, they could name it “Spaced Mountain”.
TT is the same way, I always look bored out of my mind. I wonder if anyone really buys the pictures with them looking like that. They are funny though.

For those of you keeping score, this marks two years in a row when I should have listened to my kids regarding the fireworks. (The year before, James had advised that we’d be better off watching the 4th of July fireworks (on the 3rd of July actually) from the beach at the Polynesian. I knew better , and instead we encountered a mob scene at the Magic Kingdom and had a terrible time finding a spot from which to watch.)

I think this might be as good a time as any to list some of the major things that I wanted to do, but that we never got to, on this particular trip. I think the list is rather amazing:

  • Walk through Fantasyland to see the construction (I was curious to see it.)
  • Dole Whips (Missing these is a sin!)
  • Main St. Electrical Parade (Will it be there for our next trip? Doubtful.)
  • Magic Kingdom fireworks (You have to work pretty hard to miss these, don't you?)
There are probably others, but these are what quickly came to mind. How can you be there 8 days and miss these things? Well, you went along with me, people, through this trip report. Was there a point when I zigged that I should have zagged? I don’t think so…sometimes things just don’t work out. You can’t do everything in one trip, and that’s why we Disney freaks are always planning another trip.

You can easily be there for 8 days and miss all of that. It always seems like you can fit stuff in so easily and yet it is sometimes a lot of work to fit in the "basics" like Wishes and as a result, it just doesn't always happen. It is a sad ending to your fabulous day though. I am often surprised by how little gets done/seen on some days where others are amazingly full. And besides, there has to be SOMETHING to justify that next trip, right?

Haven't commented for a while, so now that you are almost done I guess I better get my two cents worth in:

Sorry you missed the fireworks. I guess good bus mojo means bad fireworks mojo. Sounds like you need to plan another trip.

I agree it is very easy to not see everything when you think you have so much time. We had seven day hoppers in March and fell like we did not get a lot done. Or course by the third day we were sleeping in during the morning and lounging by the pool in the afternoon. That may have had something to do with that.

I agree Gray Goose Slushies are wonderful. So is the Peoplemover. Really surprised you had never been on it before. It is probably in my top ten list. Quick line, long ride, get to sit and relax, and fun to watch people down below.

Hard to believe your trip is almost over. I have really enjoyed reading about it.

How soon can you go to WDW again and start another trip report?? I have really enjoyed this trip report and the interaction of DIS folks!

This same thing happened to us with Wishes on a previous trip! I hate when that happens and you see the fireworks going off as you are leaving. Kind of depressing.

I'm amazed that you had never ridden the people mover! ....or as my DS likes to call it..."the blue ride". We use this ride as a get off your feet-relaxation ride-whilst keeping the young one entertained. :thumbsup2

Great pics from Space Mountain! It'll be nice when DS gets brave enough to ride more. He's branching out quite a bit, actually. I'm pretty proud! This trip he has stated that his "new ride of bravery" will be Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. We shall see how that pans out in June. ;)

Just popping by to let you know I'm still reading. I kind of dropped off the boards for a bit thanks to busy things school wise. It's my graduation events this weekend. :)

I've successfully suckered....I mean convinced my parents to eat at some nice places for lunch, including Sci-Fi Dine-in and such. I've been browsing food porn for the eateries we'll be visiting and I swear I can taste it.

Whenever we talk about our trip, my dad always finds a way to bring up the Electrical Light Parade, which we definitely can't miss. Have you seen it before? I'm hoping we don't manage to miss Wishes since we've never seen it before.

I hardly have time to be exited for WDW since I'm leaving for DLR so soon.

Yeah, that's it....I got special treatment!

That's a great way to look at it Trib! Thanks.

Yes, occasionally they have the better judgment. But not very often! ;)

I know, it's hard to believe. :guilty: I just never worked it into the plan of attack before.

Yup - Back to the typical results for me. :rotfl2: Not surprising, I am late all over this week. We are getting close to summer and I actually have work to do at work. :lmao:

Boy, that stinks...havin' to actually work. I've noticed that it seems like more and more people are taking vacation days now where I work, as the weather's getting nicer.

TT is the same way, I always look bored out of my mind. I wonder if anyone really buys the pictures with them looking like that. They are funny though.

Yeah, now that I've been on it a bunch of times, the surprise has worn off for the picture of "the barrier test". I wonder what that first picture looked like for me? That was way before I started takin redneck pictures.

You can easily be there for 8 days and miss all of that. It always seems like you can fit stuff in so easily and yet it is sometimes a lot of work to fit in the "basics" like Wishes and as a result, it just doesn't always happen. Exactly, there are still more things to do! And if we add some more "restful" days to the mix, we'll definitely need more time!

Haven't commented for a while, so now that you are almost done I guess I better get my two cents worth in:

Oh that's no problem at all. I'm just glad you're still around. :)

Sorry you missed the fireworks. I guess good bus mojo means bad fireworks mojo. Sounds like you need to plan another trip.

Apparently that's how it works. I didn't realize that before.

I agree -- it's high time!

Or course by the third day we were sleeping in during the morning and lounging by the pool in the afternoon. That may have had something to do with that.

I'm sure it did have something to do with it, but it sounds wonderful! Next trip, we'll have regular, daily tickets (however many days we got. I guess I need to look at the 2nd or 3rd chapter of this TR to refresh my memory) rather than Annual Passes, so that may actually prompt me to change the pace somewhat. Get a lot in on "park days" and set aside "relaxing days" when we don't go to a park at all.

I agree Gray Goose Slushies are wonderful. So is the Peoplemover. Really surprised you had never been on it before. It is probably in my top ten list. Quick line, long ride, get to sit and relax, and fun to watch people down below.

I agree. We'll probably be more inclined to work it in when we need to rest our feet, next time.

Hard to believe your trip is almost over. I have really enjoyed reading about it.

Thanks, I'm really glad you enjoyed it! I think I'll have two more chapters of TR material, and then some wrap-up stuff.

How soon can you go to WDW again and start another trip report?? I have really enjoyed this trip report and the interaction of DIS folks!

Wow, what a nice thing to say Rozz! Thank you!

(And what's it worth to you? The only thing standing between me and another trip is....how to fund it?)

This same thing happened to us with Wishes on a previous trip! I hate when that happens and you see the fireworks going off as you are leaving. Kind of depressing.

Sorry to hear that it happened to you too. It's really depressing! It wouldn't have been nearly as bad if we left, thinking that the weather caused them to cancelled. But to just miss them, and drive away with them going off, was the pits.

I'm amazed that you had never ridden the people mover! ....or as my DS likes to call it..."the blue ride". We use this ride as a get off your feet-relaxation ride-whilst keeping the young one entertained. :thumbsup2

I know. It's kind of an embarrassing confession on these boards. :rotfl2:

I like your son's name for it!

Great pics from Space Mountain! It'll be nice when DS gets brave enough to ride more. He's branching out quite a bit, actually. I'm pretty proud! This trip he has stated that his "new ride of bravery" will be Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. We shall see how that pans out in June. ;)

That's great! I'm sure he'll do it if he's already stated it as a goal. It's actually a great intermediate ride -- a little more exciting than a kiddie-coaster, but not too scary. It'll really help with the next ones, when you can say "but you conquered Big Thunder...you can do this one too".

I am going to say 3 , 4 and 5 Judy's !!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

What's the matter with 2? Why'd you leave it out?

Just popping by to let you know I'm still reading. I kind of dropped off the boards for a bit thanks to busy things school wise. It's my graduation events this weekend. :)

Hi, thanks for checking in! No need to apologize, sounds like you've been busy. Congratulations!!!

I've successfully suckered....I mean convinced my parents to eat at some nice places for lunch, including Sci-Fi Dine-in and such. I've been browsing food porn for the eateries we'll be visiting and I swear I can taste it.

That's great, I know you'll enjoy them. I think I like visiting Disney restaurants as much, or maybe even more than going on the rides. Have you looked at the menus and decided what you want to get already? (I've been known to do that...for like, just about every ADR that I had.)

Whenever we talk about our trip, my dad always finds a way to bring up the Electrical Light Parade, which we definitely can't miss. Have you seen it before? I'm hoping we don't manage to miss Wishes since we've never seen it before.

Hmmm, you have me thinking (and it's not working real well unfortunately). I was going to answer "no", but I'm thinking that we may have seen some of it when we were going from Fort Wilderness to the MK after Hoop. But, I've seen lots of pictures of it on the DIS, and I don't think that it's a "must see" for me.

I hardly have time to be exited for WDW since I'm leaving for DLR so soon.

Now I'm getting jealous! You've been to DLR quite a bit, correct? My first and only time was when I was almost 5. (Don't ask how long ago that was!)

Well I am home fo the evening now !! Next year I am just working I think it would have been easier than running in twice to do meds!!!!! Mt co worker on Sundays has 2 small children so she naturally wants it off !!!
As for the People Mover Judy and the kids have never ridden it sooooo that can be a frist for the girls this August!!!

Boy, that stinks...havin' to actually work. I've noticed that it seems like more and more people are taking vacation days now where I work, as the weather's getting nicer.

That is what stinks about recreation- we work while everyone else plays. However our work is what others do to play so I can't really complain too much.

I'm sure that's difficult when 24-hour coverage is needed.

That's a great idea. It's fun crossing-off "firsts"!

I'm sure it's not nearly the same!

Yes it goes with the job, we all have to stay if someone doesn[t show up to relieve us or if there is an emergency !!:scared1:Luckily it doesn't happen often , holidays can be trickey with everyone wanting OFF!!!:scared1::scared1:

that stinks you guys missed the fireworks...you would have thought they would have made an annoucnment like they are on and will start in 3 minutes.

you know if your phone was normal, you could have road the people movers with us on the MK day, that is where we were waiting for you while having our little texting mission back and forth.

but im not to that part of the TR yet...will be in about 2 chapters.

:thumbsup2

Two big shockers there, well actually three...

I can't believe you never rode People Mover:scared1: or visited the Emporium and that you missed Wishes (we tried to avoid wishes and still caught a good portion of it:rotfl2:)

Well there is always next trip:goodvibes, and despite that sad ending you had a pretty amazing day:thumbsup2

Well, I'm sorry you guys missed Wishes...by that much. But at least you got some new experiences most people miss, such as seeing the Main Street Emporium.

Either Disney needs to move those ride cameras, or your family really hates Space Mountain. :rotfl2:

Anyway, I think Kathy says it best:

You've NEVER been on the People Mover?

I am amazed that you were there for a week & missed Wishes!
That would be our luck to see them go off right when we're getting on the bus. But, :yay:, for riding the People Mover!
James looks like a Space Mtn pro-rider now. I'm glad he's conquered that fear.
