No worries on the TR - you'll just miss all the fun!
Touché!
As for SWW, it's our first time and we're very excited.
Just me and my DS9 are going so it's gonna be a Father/Son Weekend.
Hyperspace Hoopla is a must - not to mention riding the new Star Tours as many times as possible!
That's going to be some great father/son time -- good for you!
Oh yeah, I forgot that the new version of Star Tours will be open. I can't wait to hear what you think of it.
I'm glad that someone is picking up the slack.
I love your CM interactions with the Japanese translations, there is never a dull moment with you around, is there?
Oh yeah, I'm good for a laugh-a-minute...or at least an eye roll and groan.
I think you need to do 'pick-a-pearl' at least once.
The girls pearls look great. I'm sad because I discovered last week that we've lost ours.
That is sad....sorry to hear that. We did have a scare that we'd lost one, but it turned up.
That was very sweet of the CM to include James & give him that card.
I agree. It's stuff like that that sets Disney apart.
This is my favorite picture.
Thanks!
Oh, and I love your new profile pic!
Thanks Amy.
Saying hi to everyone this cold, rainy PNW morning. Making sure I didn't miss too much- looks like I've stayed on top here. Hope you're having a great day!
That's a nice way of saying, "Boy, nuthin' much happenin' on your thread....when are you going to get busy?" (Just kidding, I know you didn't mean it like that.) Work is busy, and home is too -- with pinewood derby deadlines looming, on top of all the other activities.
How much do your kids get involved with the trip planning? Things they want to do at the parks? Which one has is the biggest Disney Nut? Do they read your trip reports or write their own?
Just curious. I think mine are going to miss Disney this summer. My In-Laws just got back from a short stay and my daughter has been talking about when are we going back.
Oh, good questions PJ. I pretty much take the reins of the planning. I do ask them if there are any restaurants that they really want to go back to, and if there are any rides/attractions/etc. that they want to be sure that we do. In planning the trip I'm reporting on, Marlene and James asked that we go back to Biergarten, but Lauren wanted to try new restaurants that we haven't been to before. Kind of insightful, I thought.
With park touring, I don't plan out the day ride-by-ride. We usually talk before-hand, sometimes even on the bus ride to the parks, about what everyone would like to accomplish...one or two things. It can be tough because Lauren loves thrill rides, and the other two are a little less brave.
Regarding who is the biggest Disney nut...it's me. I know you were asking about "amongst the kids", but they all tie for somewhere below me. I tried not to bore them with the planning details, but at some point they found it was fun to ask me, like while driving somewhere, "so...what're we going to do at Disney?" Then they were amazed that I could go through the whole week's schedule off the top of my head...what day we'd be in each park, where we had restaurant reservations (and what I planned on eating, if they wanted to know).
They don't read the trip reports. Lauren kept up with 2/3 of the first one and then just got too busy with school and other activities. I'm okay with that, it lets me write freely now, and I think they'll have a great time remembering some of these stories when they finally do read it.
Hmmm, I'm sure your kids will be missing Disney this summer (as will mine). I don't really have any suggestions on how to handle it....maybe some planning, if you have a trip coming up in 2012.
