Most Expensive / Moist Exhausting Continued - Final thoughts and wrap-up

I'm a little late, I've been a little DIStracted, but I just caught up! I love the BIG pic! It turned out great!:thumbsup2

The girls scored some nice pearls - I love it that they got matching rings and matching boxes! :cutie: Yes, Marlene is quite excitable!:lmao: I spotted the hidden Mickey in the chain next to the rings, BTW.

Not sure what to think about that storyteller - looks kind of frightening.

Just a late night check in from the other job !!! At least I can work one !!It felt sooo strange to be off with no plans !! I never have a DAY off just for me !! Know what it felt Good !!! Tomorrow will be even better as I am not working either job !!!Can ya'll believe that Rosie is having a WHOLE day off !!:banana::banana:

You're right, things were a little slow on the DIS a couple of days ago, but they seem to have picked back up....but I'm still busy! Argh.

Equal opportunity picking on.

Well, hopefully things will settle down some for ya. You seem to be missing from the picking-on equation lately.

My troublesome life....out for the whole world to see....:sad1:

I posted on your thread....so sorry to read that.

HOLY COW!! We used to be neighbors...well, sorta...I guess...and why would anyone leave sunny Wilmington???

A company transfer...both there and back. Didn't really want to leave, but there wasn't any advancement for me there.

Actually a little more south - we like the Ocean Isle area - its still in "our" state, but close enough to SC to pop down to Myrtle Beach....

Oh yeah, that's a great area.

Ok, so I've started sorta planning the 2012 trip...and I started a thread about my "inner conflict" on when to go...please see here....

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2695229

Okay, I posted on that thread too.

Well, I was thinking it, but I wasnt going to say it outloud...

geez..I'm not that rude...:rolleyes1

Just figuring out the limits. ;)

Yeah, I've seen that...I do enjoy Disney, but I'm not too much of a Cindarella fan...that may be a little more "princess" than I can handle...

:rotfl:

Gotcha.

Does that mean if my boys are driving me extra crazy on a day, I could drop them off at Lost & Found and "find" some other less crazy boys?? Or perhaps try out what having a "girl" would be like?? :confused3

:rolleyes1

at least he's not 15 now.....:thumbsup2

I should be done with this TR by then.

I'm a little late, I've been a little DIStracted, but I just caught up! I love the BIG pic! It turned out great!:thumbsup2

No, you're not late at all. In fact, I slowed down just so you could get caught up. Well, that and because work and life activities have heated up.

Thanks, I kinda like the big pic too.

The whole pearl experience was a lot of fun, made some good memories, and resulted in some great souvenirs.

Maybe I should have caught a little more of that storyteller's act, because I'm not sure what to think either!

I hope you had a great day! What some people won't do to play hooky.

Well, hopefully things will settle down some for ya. You seem to be missing from the picking-on equation lately.

Thanks, it's probably going to be a while yet. But, I can still pop in....so mind your P's and Q's. ;)

I posted on your thread....so sorry to read that.

Okay, I posted on that thread too.

You're such a nice person...always posting on my jibber-jabber...

thanks for the kind words about my new status as "orphan"...I try to find the happy in a sad situation...

yes, I know...*barf*..Im one of "those" try to be happy people...

Just figuring out the limits. ;)

There are NO limits..well, except for those pesky limits that will get your thread locked by a mod!!

:scared1:

Equal opportunity picking on.
Couldn't get her to bite on that photos sent to my phone comment. :confused3 Guess it didn't register that I was referring to my constant text message contact with an insider at her weekend DISmeet...... :rolleyes1

I guess we used to be sorta neighbors also. Lived in the Wilmington area for 15 years (including a little bit of the same time Glenn was there), about 9 of those years were on Long Beach. Played a lot of golf around the Ocean Isle area. My oldest nephew lives there now.

I saw that comment of yours, but wasn't sure exactly what it meant / who you were referring to. I guess we have to wait for an official recap.

Still in Florida Glen so don't have time to comment on all the chit chat, but I love the updates with the girls and their pick-a-pearls. I'm glad Judy enjoyed the Voices of Liberty.

I just saw a post of yours on Fauntleroy's thread and thought "isn't she supposed to still be in Florida?" Well, thanks for checking in. I hope you're having a great time on vacation!

Caught up again! Whew!

Your phone conversation in Morocco had me laughing out loud! I had to repeat it all to Joe who was laughing too. What a great interaction--finally! I bet the kids won't ever forget that.

Then we tried it without the flash. We were laughing because Swiffer had to get in the picture.

Your dog has the most appropriate name EVER. :rotfl:

Then I went outside to check on James, who had wanted to watch the storyteller. I walked out to see this:

IMG_4015.jpg

No, this was not some horrible scooter accident…this was the storyteller. I have no idea what the story was, but when she jumped up I heard her say, “Okay, you got me that time. Best out of 3!” (Just kidding. I really have no idea what was going on.)

I SNORTED when I read this and saw the pic! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Love the girls' rings! I almost did this during our trip and was also going to pick a ring setting, they are just beautiful.

Here’s a closeup of the card. It shows all the “pick a pearl” castmembers’ names and where their hometowns are.

IMG_4022.jpg

As I look at it now, after the earthquake and tsunami, I’m hoping that most of them were spared hardship. Fumi, whose hometown appears northeast of Tokyo, may have been affected. I sincerely hope not.

Very cool card...even though it brought tears to my eyes at the same time. Can you even imagine if she had family there and she was overseas??? Poor woman. :sad1:

Okay, now let's see how far I fall behind before I get back here...I just can't keep up lately!

Ugh...Sorry buddy, some guy in Indiana stole my winning powerball ticket. You should have seen him he grabbed it right out of my hand and took off in his own personal plane. I'll try again on Saturday. But I wouldn't get your hopes up with me financing your trip.

:rotfl:

Not much computer time but I was able to interact and keep up with the happenings via text message with an insider to the DIS meet! :rolleyes1

Repeating stories to someone else is the highest praise I could ask for! Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I agree, I think the kids will always remember that visit to Morocco.

:) :dog:

They say that laughter is the best medicine, but what they leave out is that it has to be of the snorting variety, at the very least. So, good!

Love the girls' rings! I almost did this during our trip and was also going to pick a ring setting, they are just beautiful.

Well, I hope you get to pick one out soon! The girls sure enjoyed it.

I know...it must have been tough being so far away and worried about loved ones.

Okay, now let's see how far I fall behind before I get back here...I just can't keep up lately!

Don't worry about it, just catch up when you can. :goodvibes

Oh man! The nerve of some people. Wait, you didn't just come up with some story to cover up the fact that you won and don't want to share, did you?

Not much computer time but I was able to interact and keep up with the happenings via text message with an insider to the DIS meet! :rolleyes1

A mole!

Thought I'd give you an update on today's Pinewood Derby, held by our church's Christian Service Brigade and Pioneer Girls (which are kind of like Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts). Maybe you remember last year's report --> Sushi can be fast food.

We really procrastinated on building the cars this year. :guilty: James started his with a little more than a week to go, and Marlene couldn't come up with an idea to top last year's sushi-mobile, so delayed even longer. We didn't start hers until last Saturday, and turn-in was Wednesday night. That's not a lot of time considering that primer, paint, and glue all need time to dry.

Here's James' car. A nice design, but no frills in the paint job and adornments (which was okay with me!).

IMG_4740.jpg

IMG_4741.jpg

Since Marlene had so little time, we needed an idea  that wouldn't depart from the original block of wood too much. We came up with....a refrigerator!

IMG_4742.jpg

IMG_4747.jpg

She put a calendar on it, along with some pictures, and some childlike artwork.

IMG_4745.jpg

She picked out and printed the pictures. They were all from our Disney trip.

IMG_4746.jpg

Dan and Candi made it onto the car!

IMG_4743.jpg

As well as Yeehaa Bob!

IMG_4744.jpg

During the meet, I was coordinating placing the cars into the starting blocks, so Marlene tried to get some race pictures for me. This is the best one -- it shows James' car scorching the track en route to a win.

IMG_4776-1.jpg

Marlene's car was second-fastest in the Girls category, but they only gave a trophy for first place. Oh well.

But in the Boys category, here's your winner!

IMG_4784.jpg

I was glad that James got a trophy this year. He really wanted one after Marlene won two at last year's event.

Here's one last picture of Marlene and James with their cars.

It was a fun morning!
