Thanks BellHop - after going throuigh what I went though, I cannot even imagine how bad it was for those that DID loose their loved ones, be they their parents, children spouses etc.
Times like those are the ones that truly make you appreciate everything and everyone in your life. Honestly, my relationship with my wife was a little rocky at that time. One thing I can say is that it did draw us closer and we worked out our petty little differences. We also both started donating our time (we didnt have much money at the time) to 9/11 Firefighters Foundations (including the Leary Firefighters Fund). I met lots of wonderful men and women, many of whom are or were firefighters in NYC. Some of who were at the WTC when it went down.
to all you kids out there: a day like today is a good time to reflect of what the people in your life really mean to you. It is also a good day to think about those that you dont know who are willing to put their lives on the line to keep you safe, whether they be police officers, firefighters or military men and women. I do know from the many people I have met, that as much as the cash donations help them out, some of the best gifts they have received are the letters from children. I am not saying you should write a 9/11 firefighter, but each community has its own police officers and firefighters, any one of them would race into a burning building to save someone in need of rescue. They ALL deserve our thanks and praise.
