For those of you that drive.

What is the most boring stretch of road you drive on the trip. I am talking about the leg of the trip you dread driving the most and NOT because of traffic but because it is so darn boring and monotonous. DC and Northern VA do not count as this is a traffic nightmare.

For me it is the stretch of I95 from Jacksonville to Daytona. This road is straight as an arrow with no scenery except the occasional strip mall. You could put the car on cruise, lock the steering wheel, and take a nap the road is so straight. With an adjustment every 15-20 minutes you would be fine.

A close 2nd is the NJ Tpke south of about exit 6 or 7. It seems like it will never end.

So what stretch of road do you need to be wired from a pot of coffee to keep alert.

We used to drive it all the time when I was a kid. The NJ turnpike. HORRIBLE!! You feel like the car is still and the road is moving past you...

You don't know boring until you drive I-57 thru IL-the long way thru IL.

I-75 from Atlanta til the FL state line is pretty boring too.:drive:

That's my vote also.

It seems like you're so close. But you're still so far away. Georgia is a huge state.

Not the part I have to drive through. Going down I95 the longest states are the Carolinas. Jacksonville to Daytona feels like it takes as long as the rest of the drive.

Try US 31 from South Bend thru Indy. I wish they would invent big bank tubes you could put your car in & get shot thru 31. All Northern Hoosiers know what I mean;)

OMG - that is too funny.:lmao: I live in DE and my dear Grandparents lived in CT. I used to think that the NJ turnpike just went on forever and forever and forever, especially if we took it all the way up to the end to get into NY.

Years later, I went to college in LI, NY and same thing. It's even worse when you are doing the driving.

I've only driven to FL 2 times (well once when I was young but that doesnt count in this instance) and I have to agree with this. I felt like I was in one of those cartoons where the same thing over, and over and over..

I95 from Alexandria to The VA/NC line at 2am gets my vote. It seems like I'm driving forever.

Little bit off topic... but all you Easterners should be grateful..

Think about the poor people driving from Denver or anywhere in Nebraska..

Driving I70 through Kansas is by far the most mind numbing drive, 2nd only to... I80 through Nebraska! It tops I80 because you can visit the Sternberg Museum of Natural History in Hays, KS with thier animitronic dinosaur or the Eisenhower Library in Abilene, KS.

Both drives are about 6-7 hours long.. with nothing in the distance but storms and Yucca plants.

Coming from WI I think the most boring stretch is driving thru IL. That is one looooong, flat state.

going and coming on 57 my final words as we get thru the state of IL is FINALLY i now go 65

You beat me to it. I've done it 3-4 times. It's brutal. Throw eastern CO in as well, because you really don't hit elevation/mountains until Denver. Once you get out toward Vail, it's awesome.

I-40 in northern TX is pretty bad, too.

Have never driven in the mid-west, but those flat stretches must go on forever! For what I have driven--I81 through Pennsylvania--absolutely nothing but the rocks along the sides of the mountains and dead deer (is PA the only state that doesn't pick them up?)

Pretty much the most boring part of our drive to Disneyland is I-5 from Stockton CA to Santa Clarita CA....long stretch of NOTHING!!!

OMG...i so agree. We live in Santa Clarita and we did the drive form Santa Clarita to San Francisco once...never again. It is soooo boring. and we used to live in northern virginia and drive to florida every year and drive to baltimore once a month.

I thought I-95 was boring but the 5 is worse IMO..

I-95 Richmond to the GA border. Mainly because that is the stetch I am driving between 11PM and 6AM in the morning. But it ain't much better in the daytime.

The NY Thruway between Albany and Buffalo is also about as boring as it gets.

We have 2 least favorite parts of our drive #1 is from Richmond Va. to the NC line, ( its just plain Sloooow) #2 is Daytona to Orlando ( I-4) just cant seem to get to the "world" fast enough !!
