Most Annoying Food Network Personality?

People never cease to amaze me. Comments about Rachel's weight and Giada's weight. WTH does that have to do with their cooking shows???

The only one that annoys me to the point that I don't watch the show is Alton Brown.

Mario Batali is the one who gets to me. I don't what dark side of Italy he claims his recipes originate, but I never heard of some of the "glooped up messes" he calls Italian.

Emeril Lagasse comes in second. He's a slob. More often than not, his "presentations" fall over or hanging off the plate.

Honestly, there's more BS written/spoken about cooking than there is about sex and that's saying something.

I don't know; I haven't seen many of Giada's shows (actually, probably about five minutes total), but I imagine if she's that skinny she just has a fast metabolism. But one of the reasons I do like Nigella Lawson is because she's so beautiful but also normal in size. And she waxes very poetic about the food she makes, how she loves to eat it. She seems to enjoy making food as much as eating the food.

I agree. I have a fast metabolism, always have. I eat all day long and have a hard time gaining weight.

I cannot stand Giada and the way she says spaghetti. Call me a hick, but its spa-geddy here in Iowa...not spageety! Oh I hate that and don't worry, I flip the channel to get rid of her.

Honestly, she seems like a nice person, I just find myself wondering to which producer she's related. IMHO, her recipes & 'tablescapes' are something else again.
Rachel Raye, I have to get past the grammar--and as you can see, I ain't no paragon! Her recipes are good & I feel she has some nifty tips & methods. Oh, yes, the tipping situation on the $40 A Day show is, for the most part, pretty sad!
BTW, DNiece23, says there is a drinking game that involves one participant shouting out a Rachel Raye phrase ("Give it a shake, shake, shake", "EVOO" etc)
& the rest of the crowd downing shots.
Well, I never realized how many phrases she does use until Dee Dee mentioned the game!

Oh, yeah, about 2 years ago DSnow17 started refering to Paula Deen as, "Stickabutta". It's caught on in our family.
We do like her & have tried many of her recipes, which are simple &, usually, tasty.

I couldn't pick just one. I'm so sick of the Food Network, it's not even funny. The few times I've gone to the website to try a recipe I saw on a show, the website version did not match the show ... at all. Two cups of boiling water with melted gelatin versus four cups of water at room temperature with the same amount of gelatin makes a huge difference in a final result.

Now, I am very happy with the new channel, Fine Living Network. The recipes I've tried have been simple, elegant, accurate, economical and quick. I have yet to find an annoying host.

Giada annoys the heck out of me. I tried one of her tomato sauce recipes once, too, and it was terrible. I'll stick with my grandma's recipe.

It's close, but I voted for Paul Deen. Her schtick is just too "affected" and her sons are a real piece of work. On one of their shows they asked someone (about the product they were making) "Who buys these?", the answer was "people in New York or New Jersey". They said, "oh the folks in "Yankeeville" huh? They'll buy anything". Whay jerks! But Rachel Ray is a close second.

I like most of the others. BTW, Giada speaks the way she does because she is actually Italian and English is not her first language.

Ok, you can't be from Iowa and claim to know the correct pronunciation of anything Italian!!!! This Northeasterner used to live in the midwest and it drove me nuts always hearing "I-talian" with a long "I".

Emeril. Hands down. Fluffy annoying guy. I had to even mute those toothpaste commercials when he was on them.

I am also not a fan of Bobby Flay (arrogant...and why??), Mario Batale and the Barefoot Contessa.

I think Rachael Ray would be a little more tolerable if she'd sit on her hands.

Or if you stuck an entire drawerful of socks into that gaping maw of hers.

Love Paula too! (really like looking at her sons lol!) Cute!!


Bobby Flay: We went to his restaurant in Vegas and all I can say is Yuck! Everything was so spicy we couldn't even eat it. So disappointing.

I absolutely detest Bobby Flay....he's such an arrogant such and ruther....I change the channel when he's on. However, if he is on Iron Chef I will watch and cheer on his competition. Giada is a close second in my hate list, so I was happy to see her and Bobby lose IC-A to Mario and Rachael.

I love Sandra Lee. She's on at 530pm here and I get home just in time to see what she's drinking each day (about the last 10 minutes or so). That's become the game in our house..."What's Sandra drinking today?"

I also enjoy Rachael Ray, especially $40.00 a Day. When she did her Cape Cod show we watched it going "We've been there....and there....and there".

ITA! It's funny, but DSis and I were talking about this exact thing last night. I used to love Alton Brown, but even he's beginning to annoy me. The only FN show I watch now is the Barefoot Contessa. I love that she makes elegant dining table displays and then brings out her kitchen knife to cut her dessert.
