Mosquitos at the parks

We are leaving for our trip tomorrow and coming from Texas. Mosquitos are horrible here and they just love my son. It's been a while since we have been to WDW during the summer, so I wanted to see if they are bad right now at the parks so I can prepare to bring OFF! Thanks!

In probably 15 summer trips I have never seen a mosquito in the parks. Not one!

We just got back and didn't have any trouble with mosquitos or any other insect while there.

Never had a problem in the parks but at DTD I have been bitten a lot more so at night tho.

From what I've heard/read, WDW has a pretty sophisticated "bug management" system in place to keep the property virtually bug-free. Getting covered with bites would certainly NOT be magical! ;)

I would bring it just in case. There are a few areas that can be hard.

Maybe it is just me but I feel like those pesky little bugs hunt me down. I get large quarter size welts from mosquito bites. Now I didn't get as many as I would on a regular summer day back home in TX or what I experience here in NYC now but I did come home with 5 big bites. I believe I got them from Illuminations. It makes sense because when I worked at Epcot I use to get bites when standing still for Illuminations as well. That is the only park I notice them though.

We did have a few pool days and I never noticed them at the YC main pool but in previous years the quiet pools have caused me troubles.

I got one bite this trip, no one else in my party received one. Not too bad if you ask me...

If you don't want to bring a whole car We found some off wipes which are easier to use with kids. You could bring a few wipes in a ziploc bag.

Fantasmic is another area where there are a lot of mosquitoes. Even with sitting at the top of a section, I, and everyone sitting in the three rows around me were bitten. There was a service dog in our immediate area who may have attracted them with his panting.

DD gets bitten when in Fantasyland in the evenings. We always carry the Off wipes with us.

The only mosquitos we ever encountered, (or the other way around), was when we used to stay in Tree House Villas and walk around the woods. But that was long before SSR was built, so maybe with all the development over there now, even this is not a problem. I have never stayed at FW, so I don't know if the wooded areas around the campgrounds have mosquitos. But the parks?......never seen a single one.

We've never had in issue in the parks. The only time we ever saw a mosquito was on the ferry back to the TTC after MK one night two summers ago. We've always taken the buses from the resort or the Monorail but we had taken our car that day. They were in swarms that night on the boat, it was bad! We've never taken the ferry again at night and don't plan to ever again!

I've never had mosquito problems until this last trip. I went right before memorial day and was attacked in one area of MK.

There's a walkway that goes behind Barnstormer to Space Mountain and I was bitten like crazy there. This was at night. I made sure to get a can of "Off" the next day.

Ok thanks! I think we might have to pick up some of those Off Wipes And just wipe him down each night to be safe. I would hate for him to miserable with bites!

In all of the trips we've had we have not had any issues with bugs or insects. Disney is pretty good about controlling these pests. I will preface this by stating that most of our trips have been between early November and mid-December. I cannot comment on how it is during the peak summer months. Although my wife is one who will run into a mosquito in Alaska during winter so if she hasn't been bitten down there I think the problem would be minimal :)

Skeeters love my DH, if there is one around it WILL find him and bite him. Trust me. He has never been bit by a mosquito on WDW property. One year though he did get bit by a bug, we weren't sure what it was but it was large and it did bite not sting. We still have no idea what kind of insect it was.

I've gotten bit at Wilderness Lodge and Ft Wilderness several times. Mosquitoes love me though. I went outside yesterday evening for less than 5 minutes to let the dog out and I came back in with six bites

The only mosquito we've ever seen was on the loading dock at splash mountain. I've heard that down on the beaches at the Poly and GF people have been bit, but we never have. I'd bring deet just in case, since they love your kiddo!

I'm in Texas too! :)
