WDW isn't like most of Florida, you rarely get bit by a mosquito.

Yep. I live in the Land of 10 Billion Mosquitos (Minnesota) so getting bit is a way of life at home. Never been bitten once at Disney.

I *did* hear that! Millions of gallons of it!

And untreated dihydrogen monoxide actually promotes the growth of mosquitoes--even in small quantities!

Now where's that email petition, maybe I should start one...

I doubt there is much that will deter people from coming to WDW except for four horsemen galloping down Main Street.

At worst, IF Cikungunya outbreaks occur in the Orlando area, the prevailing fragrance in the parks will change from popcorn mixed with sunscreen to Deep Woods Off.

Seriously doubt it. For one, I have only rarely been bitten by a mosquito at WDW. Second, the chances of getting sick are so small I'm not even sure most people are paying attention right now.

The case I saw reported was that a mosquito bit someone infected and then late the person that it was spread to. Stinks to be that one person, but I would think that the likelihood of it happening often is pretty small.

Easy solution: Use bug spray if you are in a place with mosquitos.

I am a huge mosquito magnet and magically, I NEVER get bitten at Disney. I don't know how or why...maybe because I never walk on the grass? Plus, I'm a HUGE worry-wart yet this is not something remotely close to something I would be concerned with.

I am, however, terrified I'll meet up with a snake at Disney, but that's a completely different topic...

I'm a florida resident, we have millions and millions of mosquito's, but only 1 person affected. Your odds of getting Chikungunya are rare, but your odds
of getting bit by a mosquito are pretty darn good.

In one evening here in Indiana over about an hour period, I was bitten no less then 13 times (I stopped counting). In comparison, I have never been bitten while vacationing at Disney. So I'm not too worried!

I'm trying to imagine what the decision to pull the plug on a WDW vacation due to the possibility of Chukunguya looks like. That would be a hilarious conversation.

The article I just read, from yesterday, says "The chikungunya virus cannot be transmitted from person to person -- it is only transmitted by the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus species of mosquito."

Seems a mosquito has traveled.

It's not something that worries me. The vast majority of cases involve "fever and joint pain". Heck, a normal Disney trip causes joint pain, and since I seem to get sick on all Disney trips I tend towards the fever, too. Even "headache, joint swelling, rash and muscle aches" isn't that out of the realm of an ordinary 2 week visit to the Mouse. Well maybe not joint swelling but I'm not getting any younger! And the rash is usually after I've been on Splash or POTC and the water hits my shins.

We went to St Maarten and I wasn't worried at all.
