Mosquito Magnets

I do and I hate it. I tried numerous times to make it work. Called the manufacturer, asked my brother to see if he could do it, etc. It is operational, but it hasn't worked yet.

We have these and they do not work. We have a terrible mosquito problem and my son seems to attract them worse than anyone.

The only thing that works for us is the fogger for the yard or the spray for people. Even that works for a short time period.

I don't know what a mosquito magnet is, but I have a natural tip to help with mosquito's that works. We live right off the water and have a HORRIBLE problem with mosquitos. I have planted a ton of basil and thyme plants around my house and where our outside patio is and that does wonders. Basil, thyme, and lavendar are natural mosquito repellents. Works pretty well.

My son is a mosquito magnet does that count?!?!?! :lmao:
Substitute "daughter" for "son", and I could've written this. My daughter refers to herself as a "mosquito cafe".

Interesting tidbit: All my family members with type A blood seem to be bitten more frequently -- much more frequently -- than those of us with type O. (No other types exist in my family.)

Are you referring to the new Off product? I've wondered about that too.

How INTERESTING! I'm type A as well and do get bitten WAY more often than anyone else around me!

We just bought a fogger for our yard. A couple of friends swear by them. I realize it's not the most environmentally friendly thing but I'm willing to try anything to enjoy my yard in the summer!

We have a mosquito magnet and it works very well. Ours is the one that covers 1/2 acre, my in-laws had it and moved up to the 1 acre version. You hook it up to a propane tank and add attractant to the bottom, and it sucks them up when they get close. It catches the evil little bloodsuckers in a basket, and you drown them, then empty the basket and replace it. We have had the most success using it at the beginning of mosquito season, to get them before they start breeding. Last year we hardly had any mosquitoes. Black flies are not affected though. We also got a bug zapper at a yard sale and love to watch it zap them. (If you set it up after the bugs get bad, you have to wait a few weeks for the population to drop.) We tried the Off, personal repellant (looks like a little blue fan that you can clip on yourself, or put nearby.) It worked okay for our picnic yesterday--but we have to buy more refills to try it out in the woods, the real test!
Good luck. Oh, if you get one at a yard sale, or used, the company changed hands 2 or 3 years ago, and they weren't warrantying the old products. So if you get it cheap and it works, like we did, yeah! If you want a guarantee, then get a new one. Linda
