My mortgage was sold recently. Since this new company took over, they call me four and five times a day. My payments are current. They keep calling to see if I 'would like to go ahead and make a payment.'
We have the payment set up with our bank to go out on a certain day. My Husband explained this to the guy on the phone.
They still keep calling! All day~every day. Can I make them stop? :confused3 This feels like telemarketing harassment.

I feel for you! My car loan was sold. Now that company calls me everyday also. You can request in writing that they only contact you by mail. If they keep on harassing you, you can contact your local state government and file a complaint with them.

May I suggest call screening? A friend of mine used to have a message that ended, "We'll get back to you, unless you are a telemarketer." Could you not just substitute the name of whatever financial institution? It is funny, and they may get the not so subtle hint.

You could mail them a letter registered mail to cease only phone communications.

Hmmm. I wonder if its some scammers trying to get you to slip up and give out some personal (or credit/bank) information.

If you're sure its legit, I would definitely tell them to put me on their do-not-call list, etc. Then, next time they call...demand to speak with a supervisor.

I avoided the calls for about two weeks. I have three children~two of are three year old twins. I am too busy to answer a call unless I know the number. I answered the other night because Hubby was home. A great deal of info asked, I made CALLER tell ME. If you call my house~YOU answer FIRST. (only seems fair :confused3) I may call call the mortgage company. I am still not sure the whole thing is not a scam.

You need to use these words: "Place my phone number on your do not call list.". This will get 95% of legit companies to stop calling you. But if the calls continue, send a certified letter to the company stating that all future contact with you needs to be in writing only. If the calls still continue, keep a log of the calls for a few days then contact your State Attorney General with all of the information.

Next time they call ask them "what's my address" "what's my current balance" "what's my husband's name" "what's the closing date of this loan" "what's my account number"... Don't be shy, ASK. If they're legit they will answer you with the right answers.

I had a company call me the other day saying they were calling me from (their words) "your current credit card company" needing to verify some information on the account due to a potential breach of their systems... so I said "oh that's funny, I don't have any credit cards!" *click* They called back the next day (the gall!!) and I said "oh yes, I have 2 cards, which bank are you from?"

You can never be too careful, and legit companies know this.

If it really is your mortgage company, send them a certified letter asking them to stop phone calls and to correspond by mail/email only.

Good luck :)
