morning sickness and gender?

I had horrible morning sickness (a good 6 mos.) with my dd- migraines too. With my son I had some morning sickness- no migraines. I have a friend who is pregnant with a girl (coming next week!) who was very sick in the beginning. She was surprised because with her ds she had NO morning sickness. One theory is that you are sicker with a girl due to all the estrogen between the 2 of you!

I have had horrible, HORRIBLE morning sickness throughout this pregnancy. I've lost about 10 lbs in the month that it's been going on. We don't know the gender yet, but since we have to have genetic testing done later this month we'll probably find out then.

Just piping in on the heart rate...

My girls had high heart rates, around the 165 area.

My sister has been going and her baby's heart rate is at 135 - 140, so they keep telling her she is having a boy.

She is dragging me to the ultrasound visit (like i wouldnt want to go) but she wants to rub it in my face if she has a boy.

We are from a 3 girl family and then I had 3 girls... my mom just wants a grandson.

Baby #1, girl and morning sickness--food aversions only, red meat, Italian and bbq in particular. No cravings...just foods to avoid for the most part.

Baby #2, girl and morning sickness got worse, same food aversions as #1

Baby #3, boy and morning sickness was lots worse than #2 and took me to the end (though tapered by about 20 weeks or so, but still happened regularly), Bed ridden 1 week due to morning sickness, Food CRAVINGS for the first time--especially steak and for a 2 week period, bbq beans from a local restaurant. (they finally told me they sold it in a 5 gallon container so that I Didn't have to keep coming back).:rotfl:

Baby #4, unknown, morning sickness a million times worse. Bedridden for 4 weeks and very very off for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after that. Lost 12 pounds (first time losing weight due to m/s). Food aversions and cravings. BBQ and red sauces are BAD (though not as bad) and Steak is must half.

ETA: And when I say M/S--full on with the porcelein Goddess, meds and everything. I'm convinced my inner being laughs as I take the medicine just before it reappears. Yuck!

I am the poster child for having boys doesn't mean you get a break on morning sickness. With him, my first clue that he might be a boy was when I smelled steak and wanted to eat a cow and BBQ was like manna from heaven.

I'm leaning towards boy since my Steak cravings are strong unlike 1 and 2 but cannot figure out why I still detest BBQ.

Odd.

I cannot comment on heart rates. Only paid attention wiht my 2nd and Midwife said H/R was consistent like a girl.

Not sure what DS's h/r was.

This time, my home doppler has the count on it--so baby's h/r is in the 140s.

I can update on Dec 15th to see if we fall in line with the norm or going against the grain.

I had two boys, no morning sickness at all with either one. My mom didn't have morning sickeness with me, so maybe it's hereditary more than what gender you are carrying.

I know its just an old wives tale, but its fun to guess anyway. I'm 13 weeks now and have only been sick to my stomach about 4 times, but I get dizzy and naseated a lot. And the smells... oh boy, I tell my DH to stay away from me until he smells better! lol

My fridge has smelled with every pregnancy--like something died in it. This pregnancy, my DH gave up and refused to clean it. (I had bleached it in anticipation of getting pregnant and he refused to clean it again.)

So he bought a new one. And for a short time--eggs could not be cooked in my house. The one time he did it, I got so sick and during my...displeasure, I was hollering for him to stop cooking immediately.

If DH smelled, I'd be done for.:rotfl2:

My morning sickness got worse with each kid and the pattern is girl, boy, girl. The only big difference is that it lasted longest with my 2nd, essentially, but only because I am attributing the ongoing sickness I have now to the weekly progesterone shots I am on.

And the heartrate thing has not been accurate for me either. With my SILs first 2 it was, but her 3rd she swore was a boy cause the heartrate was lower like her son's, but it was a girl.

Had totally opposite pregnancies with my first two--no morning sickness/sick as a dog; carried low/carried high; high early heartrate/low early heartrate; etc. etc.
Both were boys.

Not accurate. My son was 175 my dd was 130.

My OB says this has zero truth to it. It definitely never held true for me.

Nor did the morning sickness thing. I guess I think every body and every pregnancy is different so I don't believe in any old wives tales like those.

Interesting.. When DD was pg - and again while in labor - the heart rate was high and she did end up having a girl..:goodvibes (Which is what "I" ordered anyhow..:rotfl:)

She also had horrible, horrible heart burn throughout her entire pregnancy and while I do tend to believe that's an old wives tale, DGD was born with a full (and I DO mean FULL) head of curly, dark hair..:thumbsup2

I can relate...my DH decided to shop & cook for himself during my first pregnancy, since I was so sick. He made Dinty Moore Beef Stew:eek:!!
I walked out of the bathroom after getting sick from the smell & asked him when he decided he wanted to die. :rotfl:
I lost 10 -15 pounds with all three of my boys from severe morning sickness. My Mom had 7 kids, three girls & four boys...she was sick with all of us.

3 girls, 1 boy. Never had any morning sickness with any of them.

Any correlation between the two? I have three girls and they've all been different. But one thing that has always been the same is getting really dizzy to the point of almost passing out.

I felt my stomach turn in knots - oh boy, better get to the bathroom... got super dizzy as I fell to the toilet, knocked my glasses off into the garbage can, and lost my favorite nose ring into the toilet.

Ugh. It hasn't been a good morning.

new rule.

my boys have never gotten morning sickness, but my daughter did...

but that was when her and her husband were expecting a child.

so I guess it is gender related.
