I'm going out of a small airport 20 minutes near my home. The flights are cheap and it's very convenient, however there is only one flight per day back and forth from Orlando. So, we're staying on-site, check out is at 11am and our flight home is around 8pm. My mom would probably be too exhausted to do much, but what relaxing thing we do for the day until we leave? :confused3

Is there anything you could recommend?

Edit: We're probably staying at WL but it's not 100% certain yet. We're going in late October.

We always take a late flight and have done a few different things. You said you wanted relaxing so we have stayed at the resort pool for the day when we want to relax. You can check your baggage at your resort, they will even hold your carry ons for you for the day (they give you a little ticket to reclaim them before ME brings you to the airport). Then we used the lockers (filled by quarters) in the locker rooms by the pool to store a change of clothes and brushes, etc.... We spent the day at the pool, showered, changed, picked up our carry ons and got on ME!
We have also done the same type of check out and spent the day at a park, up to you!

I don't know where you're staying....but here's what I like:thumbsup2 in fact I try to plan for this..... relax, pack in room, check out by 11..... premake reservations at a place where we'd like to have a relaxing brunch....(maybe Kona?) take disney transport to there- enjoy a large, leisurely meal.... take a walk, explore the grounds of whatever resort we've just eaten at:thumbsup2 if we're on a monorail or boat line, maybe take a transport to a nearby resort, take a walk, sit and enjoy the scenery...shop....:thumbsup2....Just b/c you've checked out of your resort room, doesn't mean you can't still use the pool, restaurants, etc till you actually leave...(You can only swim in your resort pool though, hopping isn't allowed)
another alternative is a day at Downtown disney and shopping and eating..... there are so many pretty, relaxing, interesting places to explore on property.....:thumbsup2

First of all if you have an 8pm flight and using Magical Express, you will be picked up from your resort around 5pm.

If you don't want to go into any parks there's plenty to do to keep busy..WL has a LOVELY lobby and you can hang out in one of the big rocking chairs for awhile and read a book or something.
You can take boat from WL to Contemporary and then take monorail around the resorts making stops at each to do a little exploring...

DTD may be nice place to go..you can hang around the marketplace area...there's plenty of stores to wander through and places outside to sit and relax and enjoy an ice cream form Ghiradelli..

Another thing you can do is catch a movie at the AMC theater in DTD...you can check times the night before and if there's an early matinee that will give you enough time when it ended to get back to resort in time for ME..why not?

If you want you can go to Animal Kingdom Lodge...take bus from WL to AK and bus to AKL from AK..there's an area out back of the main building where you can sit and watch the animals. It's very nice plus AKL is a nice resort to explore. The Boardwalk is also a nice place to sit and relax...

If I had park tickets..I probably would go to MK one last time...don't have to go on rides ..but maybe just stroll down main street..look in some of the stores..find a nice bench or area to sit and people watch..sometimes that can be very entertaining..

On our departure day in March we played mini golf at Winter Summerland and found it a fun and relaxing way to end our trip.

. . . mom would probably be too exhausted to do much, but what relaxing thing we do for the day until we leave . . . probably staying at WL . . .

1) We have lots of folks who have late flights.
2) For luggage . . .
. . . have Bell Services store your luggage
. . . pack a carry-on with your flight clothes, meds, etc
. . . leave all valuables (money, airline tix, credit cards) in Front Desk safe deposit box
. . . when ready to leave, get your carry-on from Bell Services
. . . you can change clothes in the spa/workout room
3) For activities during the day . . .
. . . boat ride to Fort Wilderness and browse and lunch
. . . boat ride to Contemporary and browse and lunch
. . . swim or veggout at the pool
. . . relax on the beach
. . . rent a boat
. . . rent a bicycle
. . . relax in WL lobby
. . . relax in Villas lobby
4) You can also inquire about a late check-out
. . . these are at the discretion of Housekeeping, but Front Desk will ask for you
. . . late checkouts can be 11:00am, Noon, 1:00pm, or even as late as 3:00pm

If you stay close to a park, I would still try to get into a park for one last good-bye. That's a lot of time at your disposal. Nobody says you have to go all commando. Maybe just see the castle show, shop on Main Street, take some photos. Take your time. We always book the last flight on purpose just so we can get back into a park that day.

If our flight is late enough, we go and see a movie at AMC at DTD. One time on a solo trip, I took a book out to the pool at Saratoga Springs and just read until time to head to the airport; talk about no-stress. :goodvibes

We have a later(ish) flight on our last day. I plan on making FP+ reservations for our three favorite MK rides and then we'll probably just play SOMK and chill on our last day.

You've gotten lots of great suggestions but I wanted to mention that you are a guest of your resort (Wilderness Lodge or any other Disney resort) until midnight of the day you leave so all the amenities at the resort will be available to you. You just have to be out of your room by 11:00.

You can certainly sit poolside and have a nice time. I liked the suggestion of doing a lunch or brunch. Also recommend doing a resort tour. The monorail resorts are nice and to do. You can easily take your resort transportation to Magic Kingdom, walk from there to the Contemporary, then ride the monorail over to the TTC, get off there, walk to the Polynesian, then continue to the Wedding Pavilion and then onto the Grand Floridian. Reboard the monorail at the Grand Floridian and get off at the Magic Kingdom. Take the resort transportation back to your resort. You could combine the lunch with the resort tour and if there is time left over before you need to leave for the airport, you can sit by the pool. Doesn't get any more relaxed than that for your last day.

Our flight home usually leaves around 6:30pm. On our last day, we like to go to Downtown Disney, walk around, eat lunch at Earl of Sandwich, and do some last-minute shopping. We stay off-site and have a rental car, so we leave directly from DTD and head to MCO. And I am usually in tears as we crawl back in the car and get on the freeway, lol.
