i was only able to get a 9:30 reservation for Morimoto through Disney, but was able to get 8:15 via open table. It there any benfit to one over the other as far as getting seated on time?

There is no benefit in terms of seating for either reservation system that I'm aware of. We ate @ Morimoto Asia using an Open Table reservation only because it it had more time flexibility that WDW did for the specific day we were interested in.

Second this. Open Table is a great option as it offers more flexibility and should you need to cancel, you can do so the same day without incurring a penalty. We often use OT--in fact, we prefer it over the ADR system for those restaurants who subscribe.

One benefit from open table vs ADR's is that in case you need to cancel you won't be charged a fee like Disney does. I always prefer open table to ADR's if possible.

It's always better to book through Open Table. They don't charge a no show fee and have a lot more flexibility. I remember when I booked one of the Disney Springs on there, the Disney site had almost no availability and there were a ton of times on OT. We ended up running really late with the buses and I was able to go on the app a half hour before and move the time back. Only thing I don't like is it doesn't show up on MDE in my plans so I have to keep track of them separately.

You can write a note for your Open Table reservations on the MDE but not sure about the mobile app. The laptop version will show up in your daily schedule I believe.

Oh I didn't know that, that's awesome! Would help keep track of everything in one place :) Thanks!

Same here! Without a doubt i would give preference to open table for sure. No penalty if you need to cancel. :) Its great!
