MORGAN DANA HARRINGTON case (January news page 4)

Have there been any updates or leads? I've just been following on CNN and they haven't given us much. I hope and pray she is safe and sound.

Thanks for the updates. I don't understand how this happened at all. It is so scary. I don't understand why she'd leave the concert. Someone has to know what happened. They need to speak up.

I know her parents are urging people not to blame her friends but they didn't question why she left and was outside the arena before the band she was looking forward to seeing even took the stage? Didn't they wonder who she was with? Even if she couldn't get back into the area why did she start walking? Was she alone?

Such a sad mystery.

This is such a sad story. I keep hoping for a happy update.

Very cool that Metallica's pitching in $50,000 toward the reward money, too!

RadioNate, I am asking these same questions!

I don't understand why she couldn't get back in to the concert hall. I read somewhere that she was locked out. But she phoned her friend to tell her she couldn't get in, if it were me I'd ask her where she was and I'd go open the door for her. I know my friends would do the same for me. Strange.

Yes, I don't get this either...why couldn't she get back in? :confused3 Didn't she have a ticket stub, or did security prevent her from coming back in..they never really explained why...

Also, the girls drove there in Morgan's car...who had the keys? Did she tell her friends she was getting a ride home from someone else and they could drive her car home? But then I heard the car was still in the lot the next day..so how did the friends get home? :confused3 Why would the friends have the keys, if they did?

Most teens text very frequently rather than calling each other, especially at a noisy concert...I wouldn't be surprised if there were other text messages that maybe aren't being revealed that might have clues...

I sincerely hope she is found safe. My thoughts are with her family.

I pray they find Morgan.

The only way you can get back into a arena is if you go out a posted Smoking door.Where there is a guard and fences area. If you go out an exit door adn try to come back in you can't get back in.They do this so people don't go in2 at a time and then one goes back out with both tickets and brings another in on that ticket. so even with a stub you can't get back in once you exit.

On the local news, the police released a timeline of the night's events according to what they have put together. I pray for that family and hope they do find her.

Police Hope Timeline Will Help Find Va. Tech Student
Woman missing since Metallica concert
Updated 6:30 PM EDT, Wed, Oct 28, 2009

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Police are hoping a timeline of when and where a Virginia Tech student was last seen will help jog the memory of someone who can provide a clue to her whereabouts.

Virginia State Police Lt. Joe Rader said Wednesday authorities believe 20-year-old Morgan Dana Harrington of Roanoke was last seen at 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 17 on a bridge that crosses railroad tracks in Charlottesville.

Harrington had gone to the University of Virginia for a Metallica concert, but left the arena and was denied re-entry under arena policy.

Rader said witnesses saw someone matching Harrington's description around the outside of the arena from about 8:20 p.m. until 9 p.m. She then was seen walking across two parking areas.

She last was seen at 9:30 p.m. walking on the Copeley Road bridge, which is near one of the parking areas where Harrington's purse and cell phone were found the next day.

"Somewhere out there lies the vital link of information that we need," Rader told a news media briefing.

Police asked anyone to contact them who saw Harrington getting into a vehicle or who saw a vehicle parked randomly on Copeley Road that night.

UVA police said they would step up security measures Saturday, when the school has a home football game and Halloween festivities are planned. Campus police plan increased patrols on foot and in vehicles.

I think they need a new policy. :(

That is every arena's policy. You can't leave unless you are going to the smoking area and the rare arena's that do allow re-entry you need a ticket stub.

She had exited the arena in a no re-entry area and didn't even have a ticket stub to attempt to get back in.

All exterior doors are guarded, you can't just open them to let who ever in.

Arena's have to do this to prevent people without tickets from entering the venue and to prevent ticket swapping.

The timeline to me doesn't add up. I hope the police aren't releasing everything the girls have told them because if they have, those girls aren't telling them everything. There were 8 other girls with her, there are too many questions about how and why she was apart from them.

What is to stop two people with tickets from going in (leaving an unticketed person outside) and then sending one of the two back out with BOTH stubs to bring in the fourth?

That said, no WAY would I have been able to sit through the concert knowing my friend was alone outside.

*Someone* out there knows more than they are saying... As a parent this is all so terrifying to me and as more time goes by...not a good feeling.

I hate to think that her friends aren't telling the police all the details of what they know about what happened that evening.

agnes!

Yeah, what she said. I don't think I would have been able to stay at the concert either.

I couldn't stay for a concert knowing my friend was locked outside and neither would my friends. Friends should stick together.

I thought she did have a stub but wasn't allowed back in?

Oh, okay, I didn't realize that was the policy...usually it would be posted that there is no re-entry, right? That said, has it ever been explained why she went outside the arena in the first place? Especially because she was so looking forwarde to this concert. It seems like she must have been going to meet someone, doesn't it? :confused3

Also, how do they know she didn't have her ticket stub? Why wouldn't she have had her own ticket stub? (I know you said she couldn't have used it to get back in, but I'm wondering how they know she didn't have it...)

I agree! Her mother said that they have known these girls since middle school but I am telling you, girls are MEAN. I honestly think that they know something that they are not saying and this is why I think that.

1) Most girls do not go to the bathroom alone during events like this.
2) Why would she have gone outside? I don't believe that for a minute. Most everyone knows that you can't get back in. She had been looking forward to the concert for months too so why would she risk not seeing the band. I don't believe this at all.
3) If the girls were really that "close" why would they have not contacted the girls parents when they could not find her? The parents called the girls 16 hours later.

I believe one of two things has happened. Either the girls got into a fight before the concert and something bad happened then and they are covering it up, OR the girl did meet up with someone there and she left with him. If that had happened, the other girls would still have known and should tell the police who it was. If they all stayed together, they would have seen who she left with or who she was talking to before she left.

I'm telling you, something is up with this and the story just does not add up.

subscribing for updates...

I think when I was that age-- I thought of myself (and my friends) as pretty invincible. If it were NOW, I think I would be worried... but I went to a million concerts in college, and probably would not have been worried about my friend unless SHE sounded worried or scared on the phone.

I think it's hard to believe that the friends don't know how she ended up outside...that she didn't text them to say why :confused3 If she told them she was with someone that she was meeting up with, then I could see why they didn't go after her, and that would explain why they didn't contact her parents (you know, trying to cover for their friend that went off with a guy or whatever). But the official version seems to be that she accidentally ended up outside after looking for the bathroom and then told her friends she would find a ride home from someone else, they didn't worry for the next day or so. That makes no sense to me, but hopefully there are other facts that just aren't being released to the public that will help her to be found.
