More updated Fastpass+ information

Right...that's what I thought. So, unless you just entered a FP+ enabled ride, or purchased something with your RFID band, how would they know you were in Adventureland? the rest of the take on it makes sense to me....

Apparently the band is WiFi enabled with "hidden" points throughout the park that would "track" your location...at least, this is what I've got from what I read.

I don't think you'll find many people that think that Theory 2 will be around for very long, as most theorize FP is not long for this world. I hope it is, but I don't know....

The current FP system doesn't need to be in place in order for same-day FPs to be offered.

Hold the boat ....

The tier system is awesomeness based?!? Yikes!

Until today, I was thinking time tiers.

I was looking forward to a new custom bracelet. Now I find out my cool new Mickey bling will only get me on one mountain a day. :-(

Don't bother holding the boat. The tier rumor started as speculation on this forum as a result of bad math, in my opinion, and hasn't received any formal confirmation whatsoever.

The million-dollar question is if there will be a component in the new FP+ system that mimics the current FP system (the idea of picking up FPs as you around the park during the day). No answer to that question so far.

FWIW, in the Disney Files Magazine that came in the mail a couple of days ago (it's the mag that they send to DVC owners) it says:

"Disney's Fastpass Service is becoming Disney Fastpass+ Service. That "plus" means extending the service to an unprecedented lineup of attractions, shows, character meet-and-greets, parades and nighttime spectaculars, along with the equally unprecedented ability te reserve attractions and experiences - both in advance and on-the-go. - without visiting a kiosk (using the aforementioned My Disney Experience website, or the mobile application described below)"

Pixie dust is the business that they are in, so sure.
~LOL. This is just fabulous, bravo dadddio!!! :lovestruc :worship: :cool1:

How was the Kool-aid?:rotfl2:
Your scenario with all the "notifications", surprise and otherwise, is predicated on everyone that uses FP+ having a smart phone. I guess that leaves me and a whole lot of other folks out.:scratchin

Yet another reason why the existing FP system can't go away completely. With the number of people who don't have smartphones and the number of people visiting from other countries who likely won't use their phones here the current FP system needs to exist in some form or fashion.

Think of it this way. Even though you can book your vacation online including dining, etc, there is still a phone number you can call and talk to a person to handle your reservation. One would think that the phone system would be irrelevant now that the online system is in place, but there is still a large amount of people who don't have viable internet but want to book at Disney.

~Agreed!!! Too much speculation, not enough facts! :goodvibes

Where did the idea that the current FP is going away come from?

Seems like they could just take a chunk of current FPs and make them appointment based.

And then feed them back into the pool if they don't "book up".

I think that people are reading that you can't combine opting in for magic band-based FP+ with the current FP system and reading into it that same-day FPs won't be available.

I think that may turn out to be misguided.

I mean...it's called Fast Pass PLUS, right? Like...you have FP already...and we want to give you MORE (fireworks, parades, scheduled times if you want 'em).

The DVC letter quoted a few posts back seems to say that.

Well, until the online systems actually work correctly & consistently, the phone system has to stay relevant! ;) I'm looking at you, Disney Dining!

If one can really only get 3 fastpasses/day, our family is not going to like Fastpass+ AT ALL. And I really, really don't want to have to reserve my ride times before I actually get to the park! Parades & fireworks, maybe... rides, no.

I'm really hoping one can "opt out" of Fastpass+ & still use the conventional fastpass system. However, I foresee, w/ the advent of Fastpass+, that less conventional fastpasses will be available - even if one still has access to them. And standby lines will become longer.

Not a fan!

And I'm really, really hoping Fastpass+ doesn't go live until AFTER our September trip...

You really think they're going to track minute by minute locations? You think the bands will be equipped with GPS technology?

Oh, and...we were handed surprise FPs for that silly car stunt show (see...I'm such a fan of it, I don't even remember the name) while waiting at the DHS turnstile last trip. The people behind us were very excited...until I explained that it was only for the 10:35 show and it was Disney's way of steering people toward a high capacity venue to free up the lines at the most popular attractions. so, I think their attempt at good will may have back fired that day.....
You're absolutely correct. If they send those offers to cranky people who don't care for the attraction in question, then no magic is going to be imbued, However, if the receiver is interested in that attraction, then all of the sudden he has a FP for it instead of catching it at a busier time.

Thanks Lauren! I haven't gotten my Disney Files yet (which reminds me, I need to go get my mail this afternoon! :rotfl:) But that paragraph gives me hope that the three-FP "news" is simply the number of advanced FPs you can reserve. But there will be some way to collect new FPs in the park.

Just as long as I can still use regular FP in June, I'll be greatly relieved!:scared: Limiting us to 3 FP's per day in only one park is totally inadequate.
I can predict a lot fewer park-hoppers being sold if a guest can't use FP in more than one park....

I completely disagree!

I see more park hoppers. I would plan the AM at ropedrop at one park, minimal lines, and then use my FP+ reservations later in the afternoon/evening. Usually when you park hop, all of the FP are gone for the night...this way, they are built in.

Put me in the very excited for the MagicBands and FP+ scheduling. I think 3 is adequate. I would prefer 5, but the folks at WDW have access to far much information/data than any of us do. I'm guessing that any more offered then cause the lines would get worse, availability of FP reservations would drop, and loss of flexibility would be too significant. Tiered awesomeness seems to be the only way to go...think back to the olden days of the individual ride tickets...I think they were priced based on awesomeness or something like that.

I will say that WDW was VERY SMART to start enforcing FP times prior to this change. Going from being able to collect a handful of FP to use later in the evening to the new (to be determined) system, would have sucked. I noticed that during our Jan '13 trip, we used probably around 3 FP a day, given the new enforcement. This was a harder change for me to take than stepping from FP enforcement days to 3 FP+ days.
