Hi, I am much more than pooh sized and just returned from an excellent trip to the World, I know that fitting in rides was a concern for me, so anyone else with those concerns, feel free to ask away any questions, I rode pretty much EVERYTHING, the only thing that I rode and thought was uncomfortable was Astro Orbiter ::MinnieMo :grouphug:

yes me too...live in Des Moines limits but my kids go to Johnston (we live in Johnston school district) I graduated from there years ago...and now I teach there...what do you do? We are leaving for WDW on Wednesday, sounds like low crowds and hot weather!! I LOVE the idea of low crowds and hot won't bother us too much. We are all excited to get out of town and go to the World for our first family vacation in WDW!!!!!! :earboy2:

Hi.. I am glad that you had a nice trip!
Can I ask, if you rode Haunted mansion? or Primal whirl?
I was there in May and did not ride these, but will be back in Oct w/o hubby and may have to ride with my kids and was wondering about these 2 rides.
Thanks for the help.

::MinnieMo :grouphug: I actually work for Embassy Suites downtown and I go to school full time at Hamilton. I grew up on the southside and graduated from Lincoln. I've been to DW quite a few times, but this was the first ever big family trip. You'll have a blast, the crowds shouldn't be bad, we didn't really wait for anything except soarin'

:grouphug: Yes I rode both of these, and they were fine. Haunted mansion is a big buggy car that just has a lap bar type thing but it doesn't come down against you really, and primevil wheel, I rode with my dh and we both took one side of the car and it was fine, the bar comes down over your head and it was snug but not uncomfortable.

Did you ride Test Track and Soarin and if so how was the fit on those rides?

Test Track has standard seat belts - if you're concerned, pull the seat belt out all the way BEFORE you sit, then sit and buckle it.
Phooey, I've been on Soarin' about a dozen times, and more recently than Test Track, and I can't remember the restraint - but whatever it is, each seat has its own... okay! Soarin' is also seat belts, follow the above instructions for ensuring you 'fit'.

I am hard pressed to ever see people roaming around Disney that are any bigger than I am, so I can tell you that Soarin is NO problem, not only do I fit, but comfortably as well. I would be happy to answer any further questions about any other rides. :grouphug:

I've seen people ask before about Expedition Everest so you might want to note any experience with that too in case folks look up this thread in the future and wonder if you rode it! That seems to be one many are concerned with fitting.

I guess I'm "average pooh size" :p and I find Astro Orbiter to be a bit awkward in and out - I think that might be the same if you are tall too (I'm 5'9"). I fit fine but I don't find it a graceful entry and exit if you know what I mean ;)

I was worried about Everest due to my size especially when I saw the the sign that said that the ride may not be for all body types. I asked a CM and he said that they had redone the cars and that I would be fine which I was. I am also very pooh sized and agree with the OP about the rides at WDW.

When I went on EE during the cast preview back in January I had a problem fitting. The loading CM told me to partially stand and then bring the lap bar down to the first click and then slide down under it. On subsequent rides after it officially opened I could sit down regularly and there were five or six clicks until the bar was snug.

Hi also from IA and taking my pooh sized soon to be hubby I am glad to hear that he won't have any trouble with rides. He is really nervous about going on rides. For example he won't go to Adventureland in Altoona because he doesn't think he can ride in any of the rides. Do you feel the same way when you go there?

Just alittle confused, so...is Mt. Everest ok for us POOH'S or not...don't think my weights coming off anytime soon and I would really like to ride that. :teeth:

I rode Everest with no problems, and I am quite generously sized. Just to let you know, they have a "test seat" that you can try. You have to ask the CM and they will take you to it--it's off to the side and roped off so it's really discreet and you don't have to wait for the kids to stop playing on it, which has always been my experience at Universal. They can tell you if the bar will click or not--I had no trouble getting it to click comfortably.

Link to the DIS site page about Soarin' with a picture of the ride seats. I am not Pooh sized, but pulled out the seatbelt to see how long it was and it appeared to be quite long.

This page from the DIS site has some pictures of the EE ride cars (they are in rows 4 and 5 of pictures).

And here's a quote from Deb Will's website page about EE that should put your mind at rest:
AT LARGE -- Sarah 5/2006 -- My brother (320lbs) and I (298lbs) had read all the reports about Everest, we weren't even going to try to get on. Well, while we were at Animal Kingdom today (May 18,2006)we saw the testing vehicle and decided to give it a go. The cast members have this vehicle roped off so not just anyone can go in and test it out. They were so friendly and told us we would have no problem riding. It was so nice and decreet we didn't feel uncomfortable at all. After testing the vehicle and getting encouragement from the castmember we rode Everest. Sure enough it was great! We had room to spare. All you have to do is get the lap bar to click down on to your lap, it doesnt really matter how far down it goes. The seats were really nice and wide too. Just thought I'd write in to calm any worries.
