More sun/heat and toddler questions!

Hi- just one more question as we prepare to take on the heat next week!

I bought a can of continuous spray suntan lotion and I think I used up a lot of it already today at the pool here at home. I really can't tell how full it is. Anyone had experiences with this kind of sunscreen? How much sunscreen should I take with me for a five day vacation in the Florida sun? I also have the stick and a small (travel size) 50 spf packed. Do I need another can of continuous spray?

You don't need one can, you need at least 5 more cans, presuming that you are not going on the trip by yourself.

The AMA recommends that an adult use at least 1 oz. of sunblock per application, and those cans normally hold 6 oz. Therefore each one is good for around 6 applications, which means that if you are treating 3 adults with one can, it is good for 2 applications. If you are re-applying every 2 hours as you should if you are continuously out in the sun, you may go through as much as 1 can per day per adult.

We returned two weeks ago from an 8 day trip that was half beach/half WDW. Two adults and one school-age child. We used 7 cans, but I got hurt on the first day of the trip and ended up in the ER getting stitches, so I didn't get my usual amount of hanging-out-by-the-pool time. (I spent most of the first two days sleeping off the pain meds.)

I just got back from an 8 night trip with a student group and I used four of those spray cans - JUST FOR MYSELF over the course of our 8 night, 9 day trip. And, I can say that, pale and blond as I am, I didnt even get pink! Seriously, buy a lot because theyre a heck of a lot more expensive in the gift shop!
