more shorts or pants?

Ok, 1st week of december (for those who have went before around that time)-what to bring more of, shorts or pants??I can't pack for 4 people 7 short outfits and 7 pants/long sleeve shirts outfits plus coats of all sorts and gloves(?). What is the GENERAL weather/attire for this time?

Dont forget you can split the difference and do laundry as a "last resort"! From many posts it seems comfy in the daytime. but cool at night!! SOme years too cold to swim...

I haven't been in December. I know on our November trips though we needed some of both. It was generally short weather during the day, then pants and sweatshirts at night. I would think you're going to need both, and then maybe a laundry day smack in the middle. That is how we do it when we are going in a season where this happens.

when we have gone the first week of Dec we almost always wore shorts during the day and needed a sweat shirt and/or light jacket at night, occasionaly jeans...once in the middle of the night it got down to 32 but by the next late morning was warm again. not sure what the actual pro weather people would say but the only truly cold ( 40s and windy) daytime weather we have had at wdw when we really needed our winter coats, gloves has been in early Jan( of 2004 to be exact). for Dec , driving from the north we would have the pants we wore down and maybe 1 other pair which we might or might not need. usually i wash the ones we wore down so we could wear them home

remember the parks close earlier too so for the most part you are inside a resort or someplace at night.in DEC we only needed to take warmer overwear to the parks for the days we were in epcot or for fantasmic or wishes since we left usually mk/ak before it got that cold.we'd rent a locker and stash them there onthe way in.in jan we had to do this every day.

I agree with most of the others. We've been the first week of Dec the last 4 yrs. It was shorts and t-shirts during the day and light jacket or sweatshirt at night. I brought 2pr pants for each (wore one down and packed one), one sweatshirt and one light jacket for each all the rest shorts and t-shirts. Also, one pair each of the $1 stretchy gloves which go for $8 in WDW (nothing worse than cold hands).

You should check weather.com though before you go in case of anything out of the ordinary.

Enjoy your trip, I'll be thinking of you. We won't be there this year as we did an 11 day trip in August but we'll be back in '06 .

We always go in December, I wear shorts day & night. Sometimes you need a sweatshirt or light jacket at night.

I would watch the forecast. I've gone around that time the past 7 years and some years wore shorts everyday and barely needed a jacket at night and other years it didn't get out of the 60's during the day and I wore a light winter jacket & gloves at night (it gets cold when you are outside for MVMCP or Candlelight Processional). Inevitably I pack too much.

I would pack half and half (of what you said- not 7 of each... how about 3 or 4 of each?) and then wash clothes if necessary while there. We did that during our Thanksgiving-1st week of December 10 day trip and I'm so glad we did! Because our first trip (Christmas) we wore shorts each day and only needed a light jacket in the evenings (and that is probably only because we're Texans so it doesn't take very much cool winds to get us wearing jackets- we're used to hot, not cold! LOL) but JUST IN CASE I packed some warm clothes for the next Thanksgiving-Dec trip. I'm so glad we did because we ended up having a cpl days there that was COLD. I'm talking 35-40 degrees cold which is like beyond cold for us. We about froze to death in pants/shortsleeved shirts and jackets (but they weren't thick thick jackets- we don't even own those because of the weather here! LOL) and the kids were all in blankets over them in the stroller and such.

Anywho... better safe than sorry, I say.. bring a little of each and don't plan just for warm weather or just cold weather... washing clothes is an option I'd rather take than having the wrong clothes for the weather or packing 5 billion checked bags to bring it all. LOL

You never know, check the 10 day outlook. Florida can have cold weather too. We come from Mass and December can be cold, but a dry cold. Last year we were at Disney 3rd week of December left temp's in the 50's. Got to Florida and it was in the 60's with a cold damp wind. Coming from a cold climate the cold doesn't usually bother me. Yet this was a bone chilling windy cold, because of the dampness. The cold weather remained for most of the week

Long pants and long sleeve shirts even during the day, nights winter coat and gloves.

It's been a long time since I've been in early Dec. ('98) but I remember it being warm. I've been in Jan. (this year, brrrrrr!) and Feb. (chilly). It can go either way in early Dec., but I'm thinking it will still be warm. I'll be watching the forecast and packing last minute...

We're planning to bring mostly capris with one/two pair shorts. We'll be wearing jogging suits to travel so if it gets cold, we'll have one long pair of pants. Anyways, all types of shirts go with capris, from spaghetti straps tops to sweatshirts. We'll bring shorts to wear on the warmest days (and hopefully to ride the "wet attractions". But, like everyone said, I plan to check weather.com for a 10-day forecast. Hate to have all capris for 80 degree weather or 40 degree weather

In 2003 it was down right cold a few nights for MVMCP and CP. We are from PA and used to cold weather, and we thought it was pretty cold. I don't think we wore shorts at all that week, though a few afternoons it did warm up to the mid seventies and we could of. We wore layers the whole week.

One December I had just one long pants which I wore over shorts on a cold day (there were several that week). Windbreaker jacket over two short sleeve shirts for one cold night at Illuminations (Epcot). I got by with what I could put in one carry-on suitcase together with what I was wearing on the plane. Did not have to run into a gift shop and buy a Mickey sweatshirt but could have.

That December week there were two days I felt were warm enough for water parks in the afternoon.

That was the year we went. Our MVMCP night wasn't cold but we had one day that was sooooooooo cold. It was a real windy cold too- like someone else mentioned. Like I said- for us Texans it was VERY cold. LOL But it was only one day- and the next day was mildly cool, the rest of our Thanksgiving-Dec trip we wore shorts. Oh and one day that we went to the waterpark was a little too chilly for our liking. It was probably mid 70's to low 80's but for us- it was colder than we're used to when we go to waterparks.

It might depend on where you are from and the type of weather you are used to. We went last March and the weather was perfect. We are from South Mississippi so it was a little cool at night. I packed shorts and jeans for DS and shorts and capris for me. I ended up wearing the same 2 pair of capris just about the entire trip. I never even wore the shorts. My next trip I will only pack capris and maybe one pair of jeans.

LAYERS!! Lean towards pants. Most days I could get away with jean, tshirt, sweatshirt, light jacket. Other days I could do jeans and tshirt. We videotaped Fantasmic and it was SO COLD that I couldn't hold the video camera for more than 3 minutes without needing to warm up my hands. Those nights can be quite chilly!!!
