Character dining.
We want to try something new on our visit this time and do a character dinner or lunch (or both) instead of breakfast. The park is open until 11pm for the summer, how does this affect the character dining? What would you reccomend and how does it all compare to Inventions in the Disneyland hotel (we want to give this a go no matter what).

We've also heard that they do an afternoon tea type buffet in the Garden Plaza, has anyone done this and is it any good?

We've only ever really eaten at Billy Bobs (cos it is great value for money we think) in the evenings, is the Inventions buffet in the same price range? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

we ate last week at the luckey nugget saloon ,good value all you can eat buffet loads of charators great puddings mmmmm! ,then you can go on BTM after as you are in frointerland (just kidding you will be sick )

Inventions is a lot more expensive than Billy Bob's but the food is absolutely fantastic so I do think it's worth it. When we ate there last year adults were 46 euros and children 24 euros. But like I said, it's so lovely that we are going back next week! :Pinkbounc

We've also eaten at the Lucky Nugget twice ~ great tex-mex buffet, I should think it is very similar to Billy Bob's, it was 30 euros for adults and 15 for children.

We also ate at the Steakhouse for their Sunday brunch which is a character buffet. This was very nice, only not quite as much choice as the Lucky Nugget or Inventions, it is more meat-based so maybe not quite so good for vegetarians although the drinks were included in the price ~ this is the only time I have come across this for adults at DLRP. We paid 32 euros adults and 15 children.

We've also eaten at Cafe Mickey ~ another brilliant time. This isn't a buffet but lots of lovely things on the menu. You can check out all the menus and prices on here.

I would rate them in this order ~ 1st Inventions, 2nd Lucky Nugget, 3rd Cafe Mickey and 4th Steakhouse.

Have fun choosing! :goodvibes

Thank you so much for the advice Ware Bears. I have heard such good things about Inventions, its good to hear you rate it No1 despite the price. Well worth it obviously! We will book this as soon as we get there.

Thanks again

This photo gives you an idea of the buffet in Inventions

We did the afternoon tea for dd's birthday. It's full of cakes, cakes and more cakes. Oh and some jelly. Dd got a party bag full of disney pressies for her, we got a most revolting birthday cake and all the characters came round the tables as well as singing Happy Birthday non stop for a while.

You can do just a afternoon tea for a wee bit cheaper. It was about 18€ for the birthday and 14€ for the afternoon tea.

Definitely Inventions!! Amazing buffet (desserts - ummmm) and lots of characters. We had a brilliant time here for DDs birthday and there was a really good atmosphere.

The Plaza Gardens is nice, but it's all sweet stuff, no savoury!

Cafe Mickey is ok - we've had some great times here but not so good on our last visit. If you go here try to sit downstairs. The characters come out every hour for about 20 minutes.

It's worth booking in advance for all of them, either at your hotels' concierge or at City Hall.

Have a great time.
