More free covid tests by mail

The first batch took weeks and they expire in July. I ordered second batch thinking a few weeks to ship. I got them in under a week. Expire in Dec.

We got one box with 5 tests.
Some of the expiration dates on the first tests sent out have been changed. Here's an article with a link to find out if/what the new expiration dates are:

https://www.yahoo.com/news/home-covid-test-expired-still-204407754.html

Basically, our tests that have June and July 2022 expiration dates, are now Oct and Nov dates.

I had an arsenal of tests because I got a lot from our county for free and then some from the USPS. I figured once someone got COVID in the house, we'd go through a lot and I was right about that. Anyway, I will say that the USPS tests did give me a false negative. I was symptomatic and tested positive with the FlowFlex brand (which is one of the best for Omicron) and negative with the Roche brand that I had. My tests also, to my knowledge, were not affected by extreme weather as I got them in when the weather had been good for several weeks. However, who really knows how they were cared for in the staging facility.

None of the tests are 100% accurate, especially the rapid ones. The new variants are reportedly harder for them to detect, too.

My dad and I tested positive multiple times - a very dark line immediately. My mom and sister had the same symptoms at the same time, but both tested negative multiple times. My mom even got a PCR. It makes the most sense that they also had Covid, and not a separate illness with the exact same symptoms at the exact same time.

Absolutely, just wanted to point out my experience with one brand over another and FlowFlex was consistently accurate for me. Some of my coworkers who live in my area were also get negatives on the Roche test but positive on Binax and FlowFlex. Either the tests got ruined or that particular brand is just not good at picking up Omicron and some are not.

Everyone in my house was sick a couple weeks ago so we went through the stockpile of tests we had. I was going to buy some so thanks OP for posting and saving me some cash

I got the 8 Medicare ones.....they expire in January.
But I ordered more because my son's family and daughter have been going through them fast

Thanks. I went through a couple tests in the first batch the government sent when a co-worker had Covid. Those have a July expiration date.

(Also had a PCR test and a rapid test done once by medical professionals, so I now know how far to stick the cotton swab to pick up mucus.)

The second set of tests the government handed out expire in Aug.

Even picked up a couple new tests that are being handed out by the local libraries. They have a Jan/23 expiration date.

So I have 3 different brands now.

I hope these new ones will have a nice late expiration date.

Thank you!
I like having the tests on hand as a stepping stone between sniffles and PCR letting us be careful with more of a wait and see than rushing off to the Dr or Pharmacy then wondering if we went too soon, or not soon enough. Such a game changer for us, very grateful. I very much appreciate the reminders on here.

My new sets arrived today.
2 separate packages.....two different brands. One had 4 tests and the other 5

I am not loving this. I have received 10 kits with 2 tests each in the last week, about every other day. All expire mid-August. Guess I will be giving most of them away. They are all iHealth.

My sets came today also. Each kit has 5 tests. Expiration is 12/22. The brand is either Clinitest or Siemens. Both names are on the cover of the kits.

I got four boxes total, all iHealth. Two expire on July 23 and two expire on August 2.

Everyone, don't just go by the expiration date printed on the box. Open up the kit to check inside the vial (where you put the liquid inside). That one may have a different expiration date (mine did, by 6 months!)

If you need a proctored test, they may want to see an unopened box (so at least be careful opening it, so you can reseal it).

We received in our allotment through the mail last week. They expire 8/21/2022.
Our previous tests, that we ordered in May expire 8/14/2022.

Some time this month, I’ll pick some up at a store, where I can see expiration dates.

I'm not sure if the printed dates on any boxes out there match the new information yet but the FDA website has a spot to search for brand name and from there I found the lot numbers with info on whether the expiration dates are extended, all the ones I have were extended. You may discover the tests you have that expire 8/21 can be safely used longer, no harm in looking to be certain.
