More free covid tests by mail

Def. update the thread if you can so others can know
I will. It definitely says I will receive 8.

From the FAQ, nowhere does it say that you are limited to 16 total...

Notes:
  • If you placed two orders previously, you can now place a third order. That third order will contain a total of 8 tests.
  • If you placed only one order previously, you can now place both a second and third order. Each order must be placed separately and will contain a total of 8 tests.
  • If you did not place an order previously, then you can place three separate orders, each containing a total of 8 tests.

Multiple articles are out there with the 16 number. Just search you'll find it. I certainly didn't come up with 16 all by myself :upsidedow

Here's from the government

Is there a limit to how many tests I can order?

Yes. To promote broad access, the program allows 3 orders of free at-home tests (16 tests total) per residential address.

I know, I am not arguing at all, I have seen the 16 number all over myself. I was just pointing out what USPS shows, since they do the ordering, and they are telling me I will get 8 more and I already have gotten 12.

Oh I didn't think you were arguing. The program is with the government it's coming out of their funding (in part why they have paused it as money is running out for these types of things and they will be removing government aid for them between now and next year, the other part to preserve for the Fall).

I think it's absolutely possible for some people to get more than 16 for a random nonsensical reason even when it says that's the limit. But I do think there's something to people getting rejected based on reaching a max because of that limit set and the increasing from 4 to 8 seems to be interfering with people getting at least 4 of those 8.

IDK if people have updated on the thread but I know the brands were all over the place when they first did it. A few weeks ago we got Roche which is 4 tests in each box, both boxes were Roche. I wonder if they still have tests that only have 2 tests in each box still or not as our first ones were iHealth with 2 tests in each box and I'm blanking on the second shipment but it was only 4 tests total (it could have been Roche for all I remember lol).

My first order, was two purple boxes, I am not sure what brand they are, the 2nd order was 4 boxes of ihealth. We shall see what, if any, shows up this time.

It's saying the address can't be validated, not the person.

Also try putting just the apartment number in the same box as the street name, or different words - do NOT put it in the separate apartment/suite/other box.

These are variations I tried until one worked:

123 Main St apt 8765
123 Main St 8765
123 Main St Rm 8765
123 Main St #8765
I tried 16 variations with no success! She’s been getting mail at the address all summer so not sure the problem.

Ugh that's no good with many of your neighbors. Do you live in a place where there's units or a neighborhood that is just individual houses?

Do you know if your neighbors ever received tracking information?

I ask because
1) they email the tracking information right before they will end up being delivered (like within a few days or so it appears)
and
2) because if they received tracking information but no tests the issue would be the post office which if there's a bunch of people in the same area not getting it that's something really wrong with the post office OR if they didn't receive tracking information it's like their request didn't get picked up by the website to order from.
We live in a development, and we have had postal issues for a few years - only getting mail a few days a week, getting neighbors’ mail etc. When people call to complain, the postmaster says he can’t get any help because everyone would rather be paid not to work nowadays.
I remember when there was a waiting list for a postal job because of benefits, pensions etc.
My mom doesn’t have email so she couldn’t check tracking. What a pain!

That really sucks, I hate it when I hear about chronic USPS issues like that, you should be able to trust that they deliver your mail.

We recently had an issue where in May we had our mail held since we would be gone for 12 days and we did the request successfully, in the system it listed as we would come pick it up on X date...my husband goes to the post office to do that and they said "sorry sir we actually delivered it today" I mean not the end of the world especially as it did get delivered but it was a wasted trip, wasted time waiting to speak to someone and clearly the option that we would pick up the mail wasn't paid attention to.

Just found this posted on the USPS site--

September 2, 2022: This Free COVID-19 Test Program Will Be Suspended

Orders for free at-home COVID-19 tests will be suspended on Friday, September 2, 2022.
Learn more at COVID.gov/tests.

We were told by our doctor to throw away the ones we got last winter as the validity was compromised by the cold temperatures. Local health departments and libraries now allow free test pickup to avoid that issue.

They were a completely different brand than any of my other tests have been. Never had one that had 4 tests in one box.
Roche brand is the only one I've gotten with 4 in a box personally and that was from the government. I have to read the instructions everytime of the various brands because I can never keep track of what to do lol. Some are 3 drops others 6 drops, then card ones like BinaxNow, etc.

I've had iHealth ones where the liquid vial is all ready to go but then the iHealth ones I got from my county for free you had to fill the vial yourself and that was trickier than it sounds.
