More Flexibility Offered for Annual Dues Payments

You may have quickly glanced over it, but this months Disney Vacation Club Member Insider offered a sneak peak at a new annual dues payment option that will be available this November!

https://dvcfan.com/2020/10/08/more-flexibility-offered-for-annual-dues-payments/

this is good news I like to get my bills paid ahead. I got all my bills paid three months in advance besides my cell phone. To get the low veteran rate from sprint you have to get it taking out monthly. I know I can pay it all in January and get it over with but that’s a lot of dollars for me at one time.

Thanks for sharing, Paul, and yes, I did glance over this! Being able to pay dues with a credit card is awesome. I'm to the point in my life where I feel like I got kicked in the gut when I have to pay for anything direct out of my checking account!

Oh, this is good to know! I'm not sure if I'll switch. Right now I divide my estimated MFs for the following year due by 26 (as I get paid every other week) and have the amount taken out of checking on pay day and put into a savings account, then I pay it in lump sum when it comes due on a credit card. I like being able to pay as I go, but it's also nice letting that money earn a little bit of savings each year. Hmmmm, decisions, decisions....

Paying by credit card and then getting the rewards on the card will be a nice perk. Hope though that they combine that with the monthly payment.

I do it basically the same way, using the money in the savings account to buy discounted Disney gift cards on Black Friday on a credit card with its own rewards. By spending an extra 15 minutes or so per year, we save north of $100.

So, do we think that DVC international members will be able to pay monthly by credit card ?

The bad news is the 3% the vacation club will have to pay to process the credit card transaction. Eventually they will need to pass that along to the members.

I completely misread this announcement, and thought they were offering MONTHLY auto-pay with a CC. I'm less excited about this news, since I already pay annual dues with a credit card at the end of January. This just allows me to set it to auto-pay without me having to go in and do it, which while nice, isn't as exciting as being able to pay MONTHLY by CC. :)

I really want them to let DVC members pay MONTHLY for Annual Passes, too! :)

Yes this is what I thought also. Monthly payment allowed by credit card.

Just got the email from DVC account services saying monthly still must be from a bank account

I am confused, It says starting in November, you can set up a monthly auto debit from a CC.

Right now, you can pay in full with CC in January...or go online anytime and pay off the balance with a CC, even after doing some months monthly.

So, the new aspect is monthly via CC. At least that is what the article says but doesn’t start until November.

While the credit card rewards and a monthly credit card payment are a nice temptation, I will probably stick with this plan too. I pay myself monthly (from DH's pension check) into my online money market account. Then, in December, I buy gift cards from Target with my RedCard at a 5% discount. I had the opportunity to jump on the deal from RetailMeNot earlier this year which would have netted me a 10% rebate on my first $500 in gift cards ($50 was the max rebate) but I didn't pull the trigger. I'm too paranoid that DVC is going to stop accepting gift cards as payment for annual dues. I want to keep my cash liquid as long as possible for now.

This is the email I got about an hour ago.

Maybe it will change in November?

I just checked and got that email tonight too, Maybe the initial article that was quoted above was wrong?

It certainly does sound from the newest email that monthly options are not changing.

Yeah I am thinking also the initial article was wrong.

Bummer too. I would of definitely switched to monthly CC.

I think people just misread what the Insider was saying...it didn't actually say CC payments monthly. Of course I don't know why auto pay annually with a CC would be something they would feel the need to add.

The article above definitely says monthly auto pay for CC. But it must be wrong.
