OK, I'm home. And I had a wonderful day! The weather was great, a nice sunny fall day. Got to NYC at 11:30, walked up 7th Ave. to 44th St. Went to Virgil's (a BBQ place) for lunch. Got there at noon, got seated, ordered a lemonade, a pulled chicken sandwich. Pulled chicken is chicken that cooked very slowly with lots of seasonings & BBQ sauce, then they shred it. So good, very tasty. Came with cole slaw & potato salad, I love their potato salad, the cole slaw is OK. Ordered dessert--a Virgil's Devil Dog. You know DD, those cakes with that vanilla creme inside. Well, this was a dense chocolate cake with homemade marshmallow creme inside, then covered with chocolate & raspberries. Very good.

then I was off to the theater, which was 2 blocks away. Stopped first at a little store & bought myself a tie dye Times Square T-shirt. Then I walked over to the theater, they started letting people in around 1:20. Got to my seat, not bad--orchestra, row R, seat 103, so I was on the right side of the stage.

The show started a little after 2--and I may be a little biased, but I really really loved it! Of course, they used all the songs from the movie with a few new ones thrown in. The new songs were really good--especially "Human Stuff" which Scuttle sings with a chorus line of seagulls, and "She's In Love" which Ariel's sisters sing with Flounder. It was interesting how they made the undersea folk appear to swim--they were wearing heeleys! The sets were amazing. The actress who was Ariel had a wonderful voice, she did a great job. And Ursula was amazing! All in all, a really good show, I'd see it again.

Missy, that sounds like SUCH a nice day. I don't know why you don't treat yourself to days like that more often. You work hard!! You deserve to be spoiled. LOL
Thanks for sharing and I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

I do like to do this sort of thing once in a while, but I know it's been a while since the last time I did it. It's nice to spoil myself too. I was telling my supervisor about my plans yesterday. First she asked if I was taking the girls--I told her no, because 1. the price ($80 a ticket) & 2) I don't get to do this stuff with the other kids so it isn't fair. And I told her I like to do things by myself once in a while, and she said "good for you.".

It was a nice day, I really enjoyed it. And I ended it by taking Dad out to dinner because I didn't feel like cooking, too! ;)

Sounds like a great time, Missi! I would be a nervous wreck going by myself, tho. :scared: I'm headed there on Saturday with a friend who's company gets bus trips together 3-4 times a year. We usually head to TKTS TKTS so we never know exactly what we'll see.

Tevagirl, you know as soon as you get to MB, you'll get that phone call! :goodvibes

good morning!

Lynne, I work in NYC so I go there alone everyday, so I'm used to it!

Good morning all

Missy right, the city isn't as bad as it sounds. Although you still have to watch your bag.;)

I've beeen walking to and from the train station the last months.
I love it in the morning but I don't have patience for the slow walkers in the afternoon. I love it when they stop short with people behind them.
And don't start me when the tree is up. :rotfl:

How I love to say something but I'm a nice New Yorker. :rolleyes1

Good Morning !!!

Missy im glad you liked the show ! it sounds like you had a really nice day :goodvibes

Joanne  a nice New Yorker !??!!? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I can totally see you speed walking through all the people and getting pi$$ed off :rotfl2:

That's why I always laugh about people complaining about how people stop short when they're in WDW--I'm so freaking used to it, I've learned to walk around them! It's worse where Joanne works, she's got all the tourist-y things there, we've just got Madison Square Garden & Macy's. :rotfl:
