More Boardwalk Villa points being released !

ftmyersgirl,
We recently bought a BWV resale because that's what we wanted for our home resort and it's only available through resale (or you may be able to get it through Disney on June 1 if there are points left after current owners have purchased their add-ons) . Yes, buying directly through Disney has lots of advantages, the main ones being that it's an easier and quicker transaction, but if BCV (what Disney is currently selling) is not what you want then don't purchase it just for those reasons or you may regret it later.

Make sure if you decide to buy into DVC you tell your guide that your girlfriend referred you, then she will recieve $200. ;)
Or you can say I did.:teeth:;)

Thanks Felicia, Renee Joc, ncligs and all those who answered.

I want to buy the points direct. Do you think they will run out before they get to outsiders?

I guess one can never tell.

I will wait until June and see what happens.

I based my decision on the Boardwalk INN based on research on this site. I just did not understand that it was not being sold at this time.

Beach Club villas also sound great but I had my heart set on being on the boardwalk.

You can still buy them, they will just go to waste if you cannot use, rent, or give them away. I have a June use year and expect to buy if my guide ever calls me back:( Called as soon as I saw this post and left a vm. We own at BWV and never did get a call. Hopefully.........:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Can you tell I'm anxious.

If you buy now, and they go to waste dont you loose $$$ as well.

You will pay maint for the 2002 year, which could add up to more points if you wait until june 1.

My guide specifically stated that the only people who are allowed to buy now are the folks who were on the BWV waitlist for more points already.

Next week sales open up to the current DVC members, not just BWV owners. Then June 1 to the general public.

He had full confidence that there are plenty of points in all use years for me to comfortably wait until June 1.

He is going to call me if that turns out to be untrue. I told him I deffinately want at least 50 points , and we both agreed Ill be fine to wait.

Felicia

I don't ever remember paying maintenence fees on an add-on that was from the previous year. We have been on the wait list and are in the process of a VWL add-on but I'll still take the BWV points. I'm actually entertaining the thoughts of a whole new contract just to get MB:rolleyes:

My guess is if they know you will take them on June 1st they will hold them for you. Good luck!!!!

I'm not on the BWV waitlist. I just bought a BWV resale and called Member Services to find out who my guide is and left a voice mail for her; she called me back and offered me add-on points.

just curious-
how can they be selling Those points Now when they haven't Done The work On those rooms yet - wouldn't.there be a time period before they move the DVC Sales offices to S.S. That they will Still be selling from bWV ?
wheN do they close the offices at Bwv?

Will it matter that these extra points are out there? Why Not wait until the offices Are at S.S. and the conversion is complete before selling the points? why the rush?

They sold WLV back to Feb use year even though the resort didn't open to what, July. There are many ways they have to fudge the extra points. First, any they buy back could be just written off. Then they own 2-4% at all resorts. There are always days not totally filled at the resorts. All who buy won't get old points depending on their use year.

Gee Terry, thanks for sharing this info. I am on the waiting list and no guide has called.

Have you let your family in on this?!?

Kath816 is my sister, and no I did not call her to tell her this.
(Well, geez, I only found out at 3:30 yesterday, and we even talked but I was in a rush to leave the office so I forgot......
Oh boy am I in trouble, BIG trouble !!
Kath, I was going to call you Friday am!)

I have gotten tips from this thread on what to ask my guide, so that is tee-rific.
Also, my guide told me that there would be 70,000 points opened up for sale.... that is so funny.... now we've heard three different totals. The most important thing, is that through these boards,
all our family and friends should hear first.
Posters were concerned about points being available to either "new" buyers, or other Dvc'ers.... 60, 70, 100 thousand, there should be plenty available through June and July!
Terry

I am calling our salesman on Saturday (Larry Hope) and I am buynig all 60,000 to 100,000 Points!!!!!!!!!...well maybe only a 100 or so...well maybe 125..or....

If you buy direct from DVC, you will pay pro-rated maintenance fees from the day you buy the add-on, no matter what the use year is. For example, if you buy on May 1, you will pay 8/12 of the annual dues on the points (8 months left in 2003).

So if you use magical beginnings, you will be paying dues for the rest of 2003 even though you may not have any 2003 points available (depending on your use year). This is where I think it is an advantage if you have a use year that has passed. For example, if they will give you October 2002 points to sell back for magical beginnings, you will get points to use in October 2003. If you have an April use year, you will not have points to use until April 2004. But you both will be paying the same dues for the rest of the year if you buy on the same day.

I have a June use year. Unfortunately my banking window has passed and we only have 1+1/2 months to use them. So, if we got a June 2002 use year we would have to use the points or lose them by June. Felicias concern I think was that she would pay dues on those points that she would not be able to use, I would have a hard time too, except DH said what's the problem, book it. LOL! So, I see her point, except I have added on in the past and gotten those "last year" points and don't remember paying for "last years" dues. I know about the prorated for 2003, but would the 2002 be prorated from now till June? Then it would be a waste if you can't use them. Are you also saying that if we get a June 2003 contract and use MB we will still pay the dues on the sold back points? Yikes, I'm used to adding on in Feb -Apr and using the points which has always had obvious advantages. We just added on w/MB for the 1st time and haven't seen the bill for those dues otherwise I guess I would know. Thanks for helping. If I get to my guide in the morning I hope she's up for lots of questions.

I would find out if they will give you June 2002 points to sell back or expect you to sell back your June 2003 points for magical beginnings. Dues would be the same in either case, pro-rated from the day you buy regardless of use year. They do not backdate the dues. If you buy 100 points on 5/1, you would owe approx. $273 for the remainder of calendar year 2003 (100 x $4.10 = $410 annual x 8/12 = $273). They would divide that into your monthly payments if you use direct debit.

I would have liked to buy the points now but they said they would not be able to sell me magical beginnings because my banking window has passed. I think you have to be 3 months before your use year month to qualify for magical beginnings.

I think if you are paying dues anyway the points are better kept for your own use. Loosing 2/12 worth of dues wouldnt be so bad if they sold me june now with magical beginnings, then I would still get all the 2003 points.

oh well:( Felicia

I hope your sister will see her way towards forgiveness:D

At least now I know where my lost resale points went!

Terry,

Thanks for the heads up on the BWV points. I just confirmed 100 points from my DVC rep......:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Yay!;)

I had to buy my add on by March 31 so I could sell Disney the points which expire on June 1. (my use year). My Vacation Guide said this is the best possible way to purchase using the MB program. I will only have to pay fees for 2 months on the points I don't have.

First of all, I now have more points.:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I bought a 2002 contract. I pay dues from today till June 1st for 2002 and then prorated for 2003. There was no option for MB for 2002 and if we had waited for 2003 to use MB we would have had to pay the dues on the sold back points for the whole year. Not a good move. We could have bought the 2003 points now if we wanted, in fact my guide said don't wait they may be gone. Now my only problem is I either need a reservation for us or find someone who can use them before they expire.
