Moral dilemma - did something naughty UPDATED!!!

Hi
My sister is incharge of our local sorting office in our area and is here at the moment just asked her and the rule is if you have lived in a property for 3 months and get mail for the previous owner/tenant by law you dont actually have to resend it on!!. If there is no return address on you are suppose to take the mail to the local Post Office although most of the posties would take it from you and take to the Post Office.....although thats only applies for the first 3 months (as above) in our area anyway!!) :)

thanks ,you are always saying lovely things to everyone on this board
Oh that's really nice of you - thank you!!!!! (Mind you I'm only nice on the board - I'm a real grumpy old woman in real life!!!!! :rotfl: )

You could always stick it in a blind collection box or something, are the local schools collecting for anything?

When we moved into our house in April 96 for about 3 christmases we used to get presents for the previous owners kids. Now this was odd on a number of levels, firstly, they did not keep in touch often enough to know they had moved and secondly their kids had left home years before anyway and were both in their mids 20s, and the presents were from Mothercare!!!!!!!!

Anyway, after the first Christmas of throwing them back in the post, we kept them and gave them to Beth as an extra pressie.

Do I sleep at night?????????

Bloody right I do. :rotfl2:

I'm sure there are lots of charities such as National Children's Homes, Barnardos etc which would appreciate extra gifts.

Thank you Reid - that kind comment makes me forgive you for being such an evil quizmaster!!! :rotfl2:

*In our local Sorting Office all mail without a return address is sent to our Returned Letter Centre in Belfast where any money is taken from the item and the amount found logged in a seperate account and the sender/receiver can contact them in one month from posting and claim the missing money. I cannot say this strongly enough people, if you send mail for goodness sake put your return address on the items you post!! It makes the item/s alot easier to find/return if you incorrectly address it or don't put enough postage on it (and then panic about it not getting there) and gives the recipient a clue who has sent it .BTW When you send your parcels this year PLEASE WRAP THEM SECURELY not just in xmas or brown wrapping paper or flimsy envelopes. So many get damaged every year and subsequently delayed because of lack of thought when it comes to wrapping gifts especially the larger items.* Thanks for letting me get that off my chest it really can make a huge difference to your items going from A to B!! Remember your postperson delivers to addresses NOT names and they do not have to take mail back for you, it is often done as a favour so please be polite if you ask them to do it for you.
