Was "they" a DR. or a lactation consultant. Because I kept asking her if it could be me, that my milk just wasn't enough and she said it wasn't that.
That he is just a slow gainer and bigger babies lose more than normal sized babies. Kaleb lost a lot more at first than the other did. I think my problems with him were due to poor drinking and a bad diet.
MommyP, my DD was 8lbs 15 oz at birth, and she nursed every two hours for about 20 minutes each side, but was STILL a slow gainer. My pediatrician said the same thing about bigger babies losing more. He had us going in for weight checks once a week for the first month and then once every 2 weeks for the second month. After all that, he concluded that she was just going to be a slow gainer. Uh, yeah...thanks. I think I could've come up with that diagnosis! BTW, 6 1/2 years later she eats like a longshoreman and is tall and skinny as a rail. Let's hope Isaac has the same good fortune!
PJ!!!!
In a fit of karma, my mom sent a pACKage today. With crib sheets, birthday gifts (only a few more shopping days till Lynette is 29!!!), and little pACKs of cookies. No juice boxes. Drats. I guess I have to fix dinner tonight afterall.
Twinkie, you are my new BFF!!!!!!!
Regarding the Great Handy-Snacks Debate of '08: my kids prefer water to all other drinks, but have been known to indulge in juice boxes, chocolate milk and other evil beverages at times. Sometimes, DD even tries to swipe a sip of my iced latte! (Great! Just what Sally Spaz-Attack needs is caffeine!!!

) Also, we eat tons of fruit in our house, but Pop-Tarts are hardly verboten! I have even been known to let my kids have Happy Meals on occasion! (Wait...a knock at the door....is that Child Protective Services coming to cart my kids away?????)
Like Elisabeth, I get a perverse sense of giddiness when I get my brother's 3 boys all hopped up on grape juice and chocolate chip cookies and send 'em back to bounce off the walls of their own home! Ha! I also quite enjoy buying the boys LOUD Christmas and b-day gifts. Things like an electronic keyboard-with-microphone for my 2 y.o. nephew, and drums for the 5 y.o. go over SOOOO well with my bro and SIL!

And those 3 boys love the presents Auntie Lynette buys!
It has actually become somewhat of a contest between my bro and me to see who can buy the other's kids the most obnoxiously loud gifts. We are a deranged family, but we have fun.
