Pumba-- We haven't got any snow yet but a few heavy frost in the morning. I have a nephew that has a bunch of piercing that look awful painful. But he too is a good kid. His girlfriend has a huge tree tattoo on her back.

Nicholas had picture day today. He wore his KISS t-shirt. I told him he looks good in white and to wear that but no. His hair was pretty flat too when he left the house today so we shall see what they look like when they come in. Hannah has hers tomorrow. She already has what she is wearing planned out. :lmao: I buy the regardless of what they look like that is a moment in time and it will be captured. :lmao:

Im Back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Had a great time!

Report sometime tomorrow, after I wake up, clean out the car of pics in the back I have carried around since I moved offices in April so I can pick up the dog, then Dr. appt at 3.

Didn't get home till after 1AM this morning, so for now I think I will read for a bit and try and get some sleep.

Welcome Back Marita!!!

We missed you! Can't wait to hear all about your trip.

Marita, I'm worried about your blood pressure. That was crazy high. Moo was right.

Yep, scared me too.

Hi everybody. Lots of drama going on in my life. But I wanted to pop in and say "hey" and hope all of you are well.

Drama is never good. Hope it gets resolved soon

Marita...Are you medicated? Is it helping? Do you have a cuff?

I got pills, no cuff so far. Going back to Dr. in a couple of hours to find out.

Hello.

Marita..I assume you made your flight. Hope you have a great trip and a great visit with your son.

Yes and Yes, report coming up!

Prayers for your sisters friend! :grouphug:

Nab...happy anniversary!!! :)

Nope, didn't read this till after I got back :)
Happy belated B-day to your DD and hope your dinner turned out!

And I'm up early today. :sunny:

Marita hasn't checked in since WEDNESDAY! Somebody call her!

Awww, how sweet is that???? :cloud9: Thanks Lexi!

Moo, best wishes for your sister!

Welcome back, marita!!!

I've been getting ready for my pampered chef party this weekend. it should be fun!

I'm debating about whether or not to become a consultant to get the deal.
What do you all think?

IT has been three years since your wonderful group of Peeps started this thread........I love being here with you all and I want to thank you all for accepting me into your group....
Lil Grumpy liked to read trip reports and that made me happy to think he liked that I read them all......
I love FOOD reports too.......and I can tell you some of the photos people take of food is unbelievable......hubby being not sure of my passion for the Dis and the restaurant board..I opted not to take photos of food.....hahaha.
Welcome home Marita....glad that you are home safe ......I remember when we picked up megara at the kennel....she pulled me down the driveway and I almost went flying.....

Thanks, Nab, Pumba and Cel.

I just posted a big, long, exhaustive chapter of my mini-trip report in firefox, and it's gone, GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM SO MAD!:mad::mad::mad::mad: It took me a long time to write!

Now I need a break before i try again, and I have to leave for the Dr. not too long from now. This did NOT help my BP!

So I got up bright and early Thursday morning, hubby did help by briefly barking at me  Uneventful flight, got there on time, and DS met us at the hotel around 3:30. He had a misson to complete for final evaluation with his partner for the last few months that morning from 6am to noon, (they got highly qualified rating, best you can get, with one mistake. DS has been complaning about this guy for months, but hey, it's the best you can get.) then ran around disconnecting TV, phone, internet, etc. We hung around the rooms (2 connecting for a bit, then went for dinner at Red Lobster, where I was excited to see Rock Lobster Tail on the menu, which I used to LOVE, but haven't had in many years. But I think this dinner cured me of it, I did not care for it at all, both tough and undercooked tasting. Oh well! Live and learn, stick with cheesy bisquits and potato soup.

Next morning was Chris' final evaluation with the new girl. Day before it counted for his partner, today (the day of graduation, what's up with that?) it counted for him. So DD drove him to the base at 5 am, then came back. We waited to get the call to see if he passed his final evaluation and how. A fatal mistake could be critical!

So finally around 11:45 we get the call to pick him up at the base 20 mins away, he did not say how he did. But we still had to check out of the hotel. That done, we were on our way, only to be held up at the gate to base to get a visitor permit. DD went in, came back a few mins later, we all had to go in and had to have our licenses run through. Luckily none of us were arrested....

So finally about an hour after DS called, we picked him up. He walked up to the car NOT looking a happy camper!! I thought, oh no, what if the final mission failed??????? :guilty:

But it turned out, he was just upset we were so late, since he had to go back to his appt., shave, shower and get into his dress blues and be back 1 1/2 hours later for rehearsal.
He passed his final evaluation with NO MISTAKES, HIGHLY QUALIFIED :woohoo:

So we got him back all dressed up in time, and went looking for lunch, with the guidance of Heidi the GPS whose other nickname is not fit for the DIS.

That lunch trip was a comedy, the kind I don't like cause it just sounds too silly to be true. First choice was Boston Market. After not trusting Heidi, DD made a turn, no BM! Heidi recalculated. Went back to the same place as Heidi said, no BM! Turns out it was a bank now at that address :sad2: On to the next place; we went to a Quizno's whose oven was down, a pizza place with no place to sit and no slices, a Fresh deli with meat only, no sandwhiches, and finally a subway, where we actually got food. There may have been another place in there as well. Too stupid sounding to be true, but it is!! Heidi gave us some good laughs (and frustrations all along this trip)

So finally we got back to base at 3 for 3:30 graduation. DS was nervous, he just wanted to sit down in the auditorium and sit down. He was hoping for an academic achievement award, 98% or better on written tests.

The usual speeches, blah blah. Then they called up the graduates. Shake hand with someone at the beginning of the stage, name called, march forward, shake, shake, picture taken with dignitatary, salute! leave stage. DS got got lots of applause when he was announced from his fellow grads, more than the others, but no "ACHADEMIC ACHIEVER" after his name.... There only 2 of them. I felt so bad for him..............

Then they called the others, 28 in all, 2 had been dismissed from the program (hence his dual missions with the girl) The poor kid was so exhausted.
Anywho, they got done, and some official started talking about every class having someone who outshines the others with his leadership ability , mentoring skills and outstanding academic achievement, blah blah.... I felt so bad for Chris.

Then they said: This years' DISTINGUISHED GRADUATE IS:

Second Lieutenant Christopher M!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:cool1::thumbsup2:woohoo::yay::dance3::love::cloud9:cry

So he got two certificate, the first, run of the mill one just said "this certifies that xyz and completed xzy training. His second one said, Christopher M, in recognition of outstanding achievement.

Thanks for allowing me a proud mama moment, sniff!!! (as if you had a choice, heh)

So at the end they sang the Airforce song, "Off we go into the wild blue yonder....", which is really ironic, since they are all going way deep down in a fortified bunker, LOL. Fine with me, safest place to be, behind 8' metal doors deep down!

I was so happy for him and proud of him!!!

After that there was cake and punch with the staff, but DS and us just chatted witht the base commander and some other staff. Base commander already asked for DS to come back as an instructor in a couple of years. California base is considered to be the "Club Med" of assignments, LOL. Some poor guys (and girls) are going to Minot, ND, where there is all sorts of expansion of sorts and no housing to be found. Oh, btw, Ds's house offer was accepted, so now its waiting out for inspections and paperwork.

Then they gave tours of the highly secret training facilities(all phones and cameras confiscated) the kids, I mean officers, ahem, had been training on, the SIMULATORS. Just like the real thing, minus bed and toilet. They gave a broad overview, then asked for 2 volunteers to launch missiles. This happened to be DD and the father of a girl that might be a renter is Chris' house. DH and the dad had already gotten along famously, as they both had missile backgrounds in the 70's. So DD and the dad proceeded to punch in codes and push buttons (including the "shut up" botton that was highly annoying when there was an alert going on) and had a great old time blowing up the world  Nicole gloated about it for days...

Next chapter: We are off to see Mickey (or are we????????)

Oh please tell number one son that the cyber auntie piggy is so proud of him......that is so awesome......CONGRATULATIONS

Marita-- :hug:What a proud moment for you!! Thank you for sharing it with us. We have been there from the beginnng when we thought he wouldn't get in because of his glasses, etc.

It's funny how many places you went to eat and really you don't eat much at all or did you get your fill for the year. Can't wait to here more about your trip.

Hope all went well at the Doctors this afternoon and your blood pressure is down.

Thanks for the hugs!!! Much needed and appreciated. Y'all are so very sweet.

Marita:
That is great news about your son! YAY!!!!

Celery: What could it hurt? I bet you could persuade people into buying things they think they cant live without. lol

MommyP: I think we got your sick germs! Two of the boys have strep throat. Good times, good times.

Everybodeeee:

Pumba -- forgot to say we are glad you joined our little group too! :goodvibes:

Babynurse-- Hope the boys get over strep fast and don't give it to the rest of you. Did you have to get the Swine Flu shot? One of our schools had 120 kids out with it. Our school so far is good.

Celery-- Are you having a party, doesn't that mean you get your stuff cheaper when people buy something anyway. I bought a big stone baking sheet and only used it once and a small spatula thing , that I do use. :lmao:

Thanks, Pumba, Nab and BBN!

Back from the Dr. Good news and bad news, though.

Good news: BP is down to 128/64, YAY
Bad news: Dr. still didn't sign the release for eye surgery, he said I did not come to him in the best of health :confused3
He gave me B-12 shot, is sending me for some other BMP test (BBN????) and wants to see me again in 7-9 days. And oh, yeah, eat MORE salt!!! WTH????? I thought you were supposed to eat less?? Low sodium, and all that stuff (not that I ever went by that to begin with...)

Anyway, I am now the proud owner of a BP thingy. I am turning into my mother, LOL, she was obsessed with that thing. Funny thing is, now I am supposed to call if it gets too low..

Color me PJ.......

Oh yeah, also no more than 1 glass of wine a day  That will be tough. But I bought some hot and spicy V-8 juice, going to fool myself into drinking bloody marys, LOL. We'll see how that works out. It's chiling in the fridge right now.
I am really suprised the Dr. did not get on me about smoking, though. I did really well yesterday with Nicotine patch, 13 hours of no smoking during the trip, and it wasn't all that hard either. Going to try one at work tomorrow. The bad thing is, if I know I CAN, it doesn't work, my mind is weak!!

I'm tired. I had 4 hours sleep the last 2 days. Woke up even though I could have slept in. I should do laundry, but I think I have enough clothes for work tomorrow, so the heck with it for now.

Off to measure BP with my new toy :woohoo:

Marita! Welcome back and congratulations to you AND DS!!!! How exciting!!!! :goodvibes Looking forward to hearing more about your trip. The lunch episode amused me. It sounds like something I would get myself into.

BBN...when it rains it pours? Oy. Sequester the heir and the redhead out in the barn. Tell them it's the best way they can show their love to the rest of the family at this time. I'm sure the horses will take just as good care of them as a bbn would.

Celery...I don't really know what pampered chef is so I have no opinion. Yet I'm still posting. Go figure.

The theme of today was high drama. Why are little girls so freakin mean to each other!??!?!? :confused3 I didn't have this problem last year. Then again, I had mostly boys last year so we had more beating up type problems.

Oh yeah, the second theme of today was beetles. The crayfish are now gone. They met their end in my freezer over the weekend. Now come the beetles. Well this morning I walked in my room to find a "visitor." The teacher next door accidentally left the lid off her beetle cage and 5 got out. 2 were found in my room over the course of the day. These are not regular beetles either. They're some kind of huge mutant beetles. I'm not exaggerating, they're almost as big as the crayfish. Let's just hope the missing 3 aren't in my room.

Peej, yikes on the bugs, EEK!

Cel, I don't know about pambered chef either, but it sounds good (and expensive!). My take is you are not going to have much luck selling luxury in this economy.

Called DH and DS 30 mins ago, they were about 50 miles outside of Vegas, so far, so good, and heading to a hotel for the night (I hope). I'll be glad when they get there.

Pumba, I read DS your quote, he liked it :)

I'm so tired, I'm too tired to sleep. Why didnt I sleep in this morning??????

I made 4 hardboiled eggs, to load up with salt as prescribed, but now im not hungy anymore. Lunch perharps? Good thing about hard boiled eggs, they are easily transported.

Gooooooood evening, y'all!

Had to stop in and say congratulations to you on your son's achievements, Marita! Glad your trip went well. Peej is right, the lunch adventure was giggle-inducing.

Speaking of Peej......sorry to hear about your sister's friend. Prayers for her. What an awful thing.

Less awful, but still not fun: beetles and catty little girls. Or any mix thereof. Hope the rest of your week is bettah!

Apparently, this is critter week in my corner of Massachusetts. A black bear was running amok on the field at Natasha's school on Saturday. That field is where Boris plays his at-home soccer games. Luckily, the bear was sighted early enough that the town closed the field for the day. Unfortunately, they weren't able to capture the bear, since it lumbered into the woods (get it?) and disappeared.

Also, lots of people I know were inundated with ladybugs today. Everyone I talked to said they came home from work, school, etc. to find the outside of their homes speckled with ladybugs. Some even said that the lil buggers (heh) got inside as well. Apparently, their presence was so remarkable that there's a story about it on the 11 o'clock news. Blech.

BBN, please see all the texts and FB comments on your recent goings-on. And then add this:  1-4-3!

Cel, I'm with Marita......I think you'll be hard pressed to get people to plan parties and purchase Pampered Chef merchandise in this economy. I love their stuff, but it IS spendy.

Moo, Melinda, Sandy, Pumba, LilG, et al: hope y'all are well and happy!

I'm off to dreamland......g'night, Moovers!

Thanks, Lynette!

Yikes about bears. Ladybugs sound so cute, but I guess they would be creepy en masse

I dozed off just sitting on the couch, better go get myself to bed. Work (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!) is calling in the morning.

Moo, where are you??????????

Goog evening/late night, everyone :goodvibes

Nabbie - Sorry I haven't checked in lately. Things have been really busy at work and at home the last few days! I had an evening work-related meeting tonight, so I figured I'd read here for a bit to unwind.

Marita - Welcome back and thanks for sharing your proud mama moment with us! And many CONGRATULATIONS to Chris on his big achievement!!!!! Glad to hear the BP was down :grouphug: I drink the regular V-8 several times a week on the advice of my trainer. Maybe you should snack on some pretzels to increase your sodium.

bbn - Hope the kiddos feel better soon. A lot of my coworkers have been out with sick kids the last week, including that H1N1 flu.

Lynette - Over on FB, it sounds like you've been having really crappy weather lately. It's been a tad warmer here the past couple days, thank goodness :) We've had those ladybug invasions here before. I sure don't know how they get in the house, but I would always have to empty a bunch of them out of my bedroom light fixture :confused3

Sandy - Belated happy birthday to your DD. Hope the Beouf B. was yummo!

Peej - Beetles in your room??? Blech! Hey, Hollywood's in the "picture of the week" over on Deb Wills' site. I just saw her pic in my e-mail newsletter!

Pumba! It's nice to have you here. I can't look at the food porn threads any more over on the board that you moderate, LOL!!!
