DH decided to make boiled dinner for himself tonight. No one else in the house eats it, so I think I've only made it about twice in 15 years. Blech! I also hate the smell of boiling cabbage, so he decided to do his dinner in the dutch oven on the grill....keeps the smell outside! I am roasting a chicken inside for the rest of us.

I think I may make pie for dessert, in honor of Pi Day (yeah, yeah...I know I'm late).

It's a beautiful day here again today. The kids have been outside in the yard since noontime.

Lynt, what time is roasted chicken ready? Did you stuff it? Did you make Rice-A-Roni chicken flavored rice with it? GOOG stuff! Can you tell I'm hungry?

I finally got my hair cut today. I said 2.5 inches. Now I feel a tad nekkid. But it was way too long. I need to dig out the old hot rollers. I got it layered so I can fix it up for mom. She always says "hair makes people" and "clothes make people". As in looking good, not the inside. Mom always dresses up in the house, even when she doesnt see anyone all day.

Tried calling mom twice today, no luck, no answer. So now I am feeling guilty, have not talked to her in 3 weeks. She doesnt even know I'm coming for sure yet. Maybe she was already put to bed at 7:30? or in a hospital?
I guess I would have heard from my brother if something was wrong, too late to call now.

I have an inkling to make chicken fricassee tonight, but the pressure cooker is in the dishwasher. So either I have to wash it by hand or eat leftover beef stew. Still contemplating that....

DS called this afternoon, he was driving though Arizona and marveling at the absolute NOTHINGNESS out there. He was wondering why early settlers ever stopped there even.

Marita, c'mon over...it's ready now. No rice....we did roasted potatoes, spinach, cranberry sauce and bread stuffing (not in the bird, tho). Now we'll have plenty of chicken for supper during the week. Boris tried the boiled dinner at his dad's request, but was not a fan. Natasha is complaining of a wuckety stomach, so she didn't eat much.

Hey, Steph! I'm happy to hear the NutriMirror is working out well

I've been losing pretty well too but am just journaling on paper. It's easy because my choices are so limited right now. I was at a get-together with some work friends this afternoon and had a few little tastes of things here and there, but mostly stuck with my eating plan. I didn't feel too bad not being able to indulge because my BFF was there and she is on a very low sodium diet and not able to eat much either.

Lynette - My friend who hosted our get-together made corned beef with all the trimmings, but the cabbage didn't seem to smell up the house. I'm not sure what her technique was but she lightly cooks the veggies instead of simmering them for a really long time like my Grandma used to do. But then, her family is Irish so she may know a few tricks

Marita - My hair ended up pretty darn short yesterday, but I figure it should be easier to take care of for the next couple weeks so I didn't really mind.

MommyP - You sure do carry high! I can see a little difference between the two pics though.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TWINKS!!!​

I know I wished it on FB, but just hadn't had a chance to make it over here until now.

I ran 8 miles today in honor of your birthday. So, I was a little busy. I had some serious chafing issues with my compression hose rubbing against my other leg. Let's just say there was quite a bit of blood stain, and a RAW left leg. Other than that, I am so excited that I did it!

I'm getting ready to go to my parents house for Spring Break. Trying to get the house clean before we leave so that it will be clean when we return. Hope everyone has a pleasant week! I'll try to check in from the parent's house.

Happy Belated birthday to you.....hope your day was special....
last night we went to our son and dil's house and had a boiled dinner.....we love corn beef and cabbage and turnip and carrots and potatoes..delicious....Our granddaughter who is almost 3 ate cabbage and corn beef and dipped it in her vinegar.......laughed to hard......she loves that stuff. The two kiddos eat about everything that is placed in front of them.......well except the turnip......that is definitely an acquired taste.
I went to crocs and got a pair of crocs at 17.99 and free shipping......my dil got some to go to disney too.......and some for the kiddos.......my son, her hubby, said no thanks......he likes his sneakers.......laughed at him.....
The family is in planning mode......this will be different going with two young ones again......havent done that since the two oldest grandkids would go with us every other year.......

My little great niece Ava is not with me anymore.....she went back to her other babysitter (my other niece) .......what a good baby she was......loved every moment of it......

Megara is doing great again.....oh forgot to give her the pills and me too.....see you later gators....

Bored.


Not as bored as a couple of weeks ago when Julia Roberts and Princess Freakshow, I mean PJ, dragged me to that girl movie "He's Just Not That Into You".

Omgosh!!!!! It was horrible. In one scene, they are remodeling an apartment, and a guy picks up a hammer and I beg him to gouge my eyes out and put me out of my misery. Then I got shushed!

Seriously, it was miserable. I was purposely trying to choke myself on the popcorn...anything to distract me from the snoozefest on the screen.



Guess I'll move on. I'm going to find something interesting to do. Maybe I'll drive to the big city of LooUhVull. Maybe I'll call a friend and go to lunch. Maybe I'll continue my quest for the perfect pancake. Maybe I'll do all three at the same time. I'm crazy like that.

Here's the bad thing about being a nurse. Some weekends you have to work the whole entire weekend (12 or 16 hour shifts) while everybody else is having fun. Then when everybody else starts their work week, you are at home by yourself posting incessant blather on a disney message board. *sigh*

BabyN - I was really looking forward to seeing that movie. I guess I'll skip it now.

I've got lots of laundry ahead of me. I already did a load of mine and the babies. Diapers are in now and then there are whites and at least 2 loads of boy laundry. I won't be able to do all of it though...if I do we'll run out of soft water.

I swept out the laundry room too. I think that's as far as I'll get today.I wish I had cable so I could just veg today.
