MOOvers on the MOOve Again

Hiya Moovers! Happy Saturday! We are enjoying a lovely bout of weather here...it's in the mid-50s today! Practically tropical compared to the weather we've had recently. The kids have been outside playing in the yard for the past 3 hours.

Boris' car raced in the Pinewood Derby Regionals today. He placed 1st in two races, and 2nd in 2 others, but didn't win a trophy. But he had a great time, and he is still First Place in his Pack, so there'll be a trophy for that.

Also, both Boris and Natasha got their report cards yesterday. All C's (which are the highest marks they can get....C stands for "Consistently Exceeds Standards. :confused3 One almost needs a Rosetta Stone to decipher the grading system. Urgh.):confused3

Peej, I can't believe your dad left you at a gas station in the middle of West Wahoo! Yikes! Glad Clem didn't turn out to be a ax-wielding serial killer or sumpn. :scared: Hope your car doesn't cost an arm and a leg to fix. Mr. Lalijack had some work done on his car yesterday.....for a grand total of $925!!!! :scared1: Cha-ching!

Big L! The pin is available!!!! (We think. Somebody on the collectible board found it in Disney's website and its an open edition which means they're still making it so it should be available.)
When is Boris's report due?

I might need you to pm me your phone number. cuz I won't have internet access (darn disney!) and if I write your address down, I'll forget it.
or maybe I could put it in my phone.

but anyway, here's what it looks like:

Cel, I LOVE that pin! Boris' report has to be passed in on March 30, but he won't be taping his interview until April 3. Let me know if I should PM you my phone # and/or address. If you're able to find the pin, I can either send you a check or PayPal you the $$. Thanks!

I just heard about this latest Obama plan and I am none too happy. IF he passes a law stating that I will be forced to assist in abortions and will not be protected if I object on moral or religioius conscience, then I will definitely be finding another job.

Currently, my hospital allows for nurses/staff who oppose these proceedures to not participate. Granted, we are not an abortion clinic, but occasionally we have moms come in who want to be induced and or have a baby removed that supposedly has physical and/or genetic defects. The doctor wants the nurses to either assist in the proceedure or give medications to cause these women to go into preterm labor and abort the baby.

It has never been an issue for those of us who do not want to participate in these circumstances.

AND, I am going to add, before I jump off of my soap box, that if in fact my religious beliefs are no longer of any merit, we are heading down a very dangerous path in this country.

You already know how I feel about Obama and his plans in general, and I think this is exactly the sort of thing that should be making people sit up and take note of what's happening in this country. The country's founding fathers must be spinning in their graves!

Speaking of our exalted ruler  , I really must send a formal thank-you to Peej, who was so kind as to send me a gift this week in the mail. Peej, only you could do something so thoughtful and lovely. Really, I'm so glad we're friends. Your gift speaks to how very well you know me, and I just want to say:

Bite me, Toots! :cool2:

Me thinks this calls for some clarification (TMbbn)

Congrats to Boris on his races and the lalijack kids for their grades!

Time to make the dumplings for the stew (best part, IMO, with the gravy)

MommyP - Sorry you couldn't make it to the farm day. Has Chad already gone for jury duty? They don't always make you come in or sometimes even if you do have to go in, you may not be picked to be on a jury.

It's Tuesday. Last time he had to do it they didn't pick him for a jury, but he still had to stay there until 5pm. I always try to get him to wear crappy clothes so he doesn't look so presentable and they'll send him on his way, but he won't.

Peej - That sounds like quite the adventure. Thank goodness Clem took you home, how would you have gotten home? Who only takes cash? Get with the program, Clem. Why did you have to pay for a tow with AAA? Isn't that why you pay $30+ a year for their service?

I pay like $4 a year through my insurance I get my towing and locksmith(have used a few times lol) paid. :thumbsup2

That smartastarstar sent me -- of ALL things! -- an Obama bumper sticker. Ack! Doubly offensive, since 1. I am NO fan of Obama's, and 2. everyone who knows me knows that bumpah stickahs are verboten in my town. I harumph Peej! :snooty:

And thanks for the congrats for the kiddoes, Marita! I'm not a fan of beef stew, but I wouldn't mind some dumplings! ;)

Chad was able to finish working and get home by one. So we were able to make Farm Day! Yay! It was super duper hot and a little rushed because it's over at 3. But we had fun and it was nice to get out of the house!

Some pictures are uploading. Photobucket is incredibly slow.

I was not on the Jimmy Fallon show last night. I was on a different type of adventure. I call it "A Day in the Life of Clem." Set and listen for a spell. ;)

So I was working the late shift in the tow truck that I drive from 10pm to 8am when I get this call. Apparently some rich kid, her mom, dad, little sister, and a few of her friends were driving to her parents' condo in Florida. About halfway between Louisville and Nashville. I pull up at this really nice BP located in a nice area of town and see black smoke billowing out the back of this gal's car. There was so much smoke I really couldn't even see who was in it. The back window was open and I hear someone yell out "I REPENT!!!!!!!" I thought somebuddy was going to die. I kid you not.

You shoulda seen the way these gals were dressed. I think I saw more designer clothes than I've seen in my whole life combined. Questionable gal steps out of the smoking car. She was just as happy as could be! I told her I would tow the car wherever she needed. She says "oh, then take it to Indiana, I want to see BabyNurse". I told her that I don't know a BabyNurse in Indiana. She said. "What? You don't know a BabyNurse in Indiana?" No, I don't. I asked her where BabyNurse lived and she drew me a picture with crayons. Then ate them. I agreed to tow the car. Who knew all you had to go through just to tow someone's car? :confused3 I was really hesitant to let her in the truck with me. I was scared! And maybe crying....
I was like, "no, you can't get in my truck. Please just sit in the car while I tow it. Although adled, she was actually really nice to me though. She told me to get her cell phone number and give it to someone I know. That was her proof that she wasn't going to abduct me. So, I called Billy Bob with it. Lauen and I chatted all the way to Indiana.

So once we get there I said, "Well, I guess that was an adventure for you!" She turned to me and said "oh, I eat crayons quite frequently. I love them." Oh my. I thought she was crazy, I started crying again and almost called Billy Bob. So basically I think she was crazy. So now it's about 1:30am and I'm at a Volkswagen dealership near a BabyNurse in Indianna, but not super close. She says "well, I guess you'll need to call Billy Bob now because I'm still hungry." Then she changed her mind. Lauren was actually quite nice. Perhaps it's a miracle I'm alive, but people get their cars towed all the time, right? I finally made it home around 2. When I asked her for money she said she didn't have any because she ate it.

The end.

Clem

What a horrible experience Clem. You should think about different work. And maybe a higher class clientele.

Mommy P-- Love the pictures, especially the last one with all the boys. So cute!

P.J-- glad you made it back home safe. My first hubby worked for CAA ( your AAA). Some people we had to drive back home were the scary ones. I remember towing a student's car home, it went to the junk yard two hours away. We dropped her off at home. She got a free ride home since her CAA paid for a long tow. Her stuff was in the car.

Lynette-- that is a backwards marking system. We do not want to see any C's on our card. We want A's.

We finally got nice weather here the kids have been outside playing most of the day. They too are on March Break for the week. I get to sleep in this week...:woohoo: No packed lunches to make either.

NAB, my kids will have a traditional A, B and C marking system starting in 4th grade. For now, they get C's (Consistently Exceeds Standards), M's (Meets Standards), P's (Progressing Toward Standards), L's (Limited Progress) or NE (Not Evaulated Formally at this time). Not sure who came up with this system, but the teachers hate it too. :confused3

BDG, thank you for your literary contributions.

MommyP, looks like fun!

BDG, :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao:

In a bit of bright news for the economy, I finally went to get my nails done today, and it was fairly busy. According to the owner (wife), business has been better. Tax refunds, perhaps. And the stockmarket is up a bit.
On the negative side, on the way back I heard a news report about AIG, which receive gazillions in bailout money, gving millions of dollars in bonuses to execs. There is sure to be a rebellion!

B -- how did the dance go?

Marita-- way to go on getting your nails done. I haven't gone and got my done since that Sept. I saw you and the rest of the gang. Might have put nail polish on when I went to the Christmas party in Dec.

In Germany, they do numbers. 1-5, 1 being best.

Nab, look around to see if they little nails places around you, the big salons charge a fortune. I get fills for acrylic nails for $13. Can't beat it. A salon or spa charges at least $20 just for color.

The beef stew was good. DH hubby declared it the best I ever made. Don;t know why, same as always. Maybe because he was hungry from bowling this morning. :confused3

Cute pics, MP, glad you got to go.

I thinks its time for a little nap zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

They mark all the papers with a level but it is opposite we don't want to see a level 1 , you want to see level 4's that means an A .

Marita-- I should look to see if there are any around here, I know when I went to the spa place it was $38. for manicure and pedicure. I couldn't keep up with that price.

Where is Mony hiding. I see her in the arcade once and while. :confused3

Nabbie, look around strip malls for little nail places. I think just getting polish is only about $5.

I just changed my seats again for my connecting flights to be closeto the front. I am a tad nervous about making connections, especially going over there. On the way way back, I guess I could bide my time in Atlanta.

PeeJ, YIKES! Ditto on your dad leaving you there. But then again, you disguise yourself as an responsible adult

Colour me PJ, but I'm confused. He towed you to Indiana, and you live in Kentucky? I thought Indiana = BBN, OK. But NO.:confused3

Hoping too its not too bad for repair bills and that you get a ride or good rental car deal. :grouphug:
I live in Indiana. Right now I am working on the car situation. The complication comes in with me being 23 and people wanting me to be 25 to rent a car or charge me some ridiculous extra fee since I'm only 23. My friends, Eren and Ben, are potentially going to drive from Cincinnati, come and get me, and drive me back to Cincinnati. Then, in Cincinnati I can get my mom's car. Then, when my parents are driving back from Florida next weekend they can stop and get my mom's car. Did anyone follow that?

Yay for Daddy cash wad! Otherwise, one word: AAA! Saved me multiple times.

And what would nice Clem have done if you didn't have the cash? Sell you into slavery??
What would AAA have done for me if I didn't have cash? I was discussing this with the bbn over lunch today. We were saying that even if he had driven me to an ATM, I don't know that I have enough in my account to cover the cost. I really do wonder what would have happened. I wonder if Clem would have become less than nice.

PEEJ!!! What an adventure you had! :grouphug: Well, at least your dad left $$ for towing your car. Yikes.

We have a family member who has a wrecker service as part of his car dealership and I would imagine he comes across as being kind of gruff when he does late night calls. My FIL used to drive the tow truck when he was younger and would have to get up at all hours and even had to leave family dinners, etc. if his brother wasn't available. My hubby would go with him every now and then.

I sure hope it wasn't your engine or transmission  Is your car still under warranty?

You might want to check your insurance policy to see if covers a rental car :car:
Not to be pessimistic, but the prognosis on billowing smoke from rear of vehicle and three flashing lights doesn't sound promising. Keep your fingers crossed! I'm trying to push that thought to the back of my mind at the moment...

AAA paid for the first 5 miles and then it was $3/mile for every mile after that. 5 miles got me pretty much nowhere. Which was exactly where I started. I dunno.
p.s. cute pictures of the boys.

Congrats to Boris and Natasha on their grades. However, that grading system does sound confusing. We have O (outstanding), S (satisfactory), NI (needs improvement), and U (unsatisfactory). Then, once they go to 6th grade they're on a normal A B or C grading scale.

I did send you a lovely spring card to go with the bumper sticker!! So there!! I should get a thank you for that. Harumph! Come on, you know it made you laugh...

Peej -

Hi to everyone else!
:wave2: Thanks, Cel.

Woohoo for Spring Break! Who knew we had so many experienced towers on the moovin thread!

PeeJ, when did you turn 23? (yeah, new years eve, I know) but it seems you just turned 21? Time Doth fly! Especially when you get older(ish)

Hubby just called DS to say he renewed his AAA insurance for him. The AF has him drivin cross county. I think I googled his latest trip at 1,782 miles.

Maybe I'm still 21. Hey, wouldn't that be cool?! The only reason I have AAA is because my grandpa paid for it when I moved down here. I think I'm going to make cookies. Which has nothing to do with Cookie the hamster and everything to do with eating cookie dough.

Peej, cookies make everything better! :thumbsup2

Dare I ask whether you've been having the oil in your car changed regularly? :duck: I know my hubby frequently reminds Mari to do that . . .

MommyP - Yay for getting to go to Farm Day, even if just for a little while. Love the photos, especially the one with the boys in front of the bamboo (at least I think that's what that is)!

B - Interesting drive-by! :lmao:

Hmmm, I wonder where Lil G is? Maybe watching bball? I see that UNC lost today, so I know Mari will be disappointed.

Marita - I hope you get a good haircut. Mine ended up rather short today :headache: I hope I can still curl it on top to put in a little lift.

Happy
