Twinkie-- Nicholas would still be in shorts but I made him wear jeans. Since I still walk Hannah to school I didnt' want to hear other parents say wear is his parents when he goes out the door. Now it is a fight to get a sweater on him....but I gave up on that one....

It is cold and rainy today,suppose to be cold for Thanksgiving but what else is new. The Oktoberfest Parade is always cold, but all the festivities in Kitchener - Waterloo are so much fun. Heading to my mom's tomorrow.

Nicholas has a dance tonight. He asked if I could drive his girlfriend too because if I don't she can't go. You should have seen them with there puppy eyes pleading.

DS is on his way to Montana to go house hunting.

Some guy got kicked out of the program, and the base commander picked DS to do double duty with the girl that was let partnerless. So that alone is great credit for DS. BUT, he was also paired with a captain that was demoted to redo training, so now his final evaluation will be based on his mission with the girl who is a lot better than the captain.

Had to cancel my vacation day for Wednesday, due to Dr on Monday and dentist on Tuesday, but its ok.

Marita-- Nicholas has a different girlfriend every other week. Do you leave on Thursday? Your son is doing great and seems to be enjoying it. Is the girl he working with single....maybe it will be a good thing.

Can't believe how quiet it is becoming on our thread. Every one must be really busy. Or playing games on Facebook.

Off to my Mom's this weekend, it should be hard to catch up when I get back unless there is a posting frenzy.

It has been cold/rainy here the last few days. Fall has arrived. I predict frost on the pumpkin by next week. Racing season is here. (If that doesn't draw out WT, I don't know what will.)

Peej....It's not wrong to giggle at the art car. It's natural. Just sayin. The teacher conference went well. She says there's not enough of a gap between his test scores and performance to test him? She says to talk to the pediatrician about options. Does that mean medication? I dont' want to medicate him.

Lil G!!! You win! You're the only one who mentioned the mermaid theme! It's true! The art car is intended to carry an enormous paper mache mermaid on top.

I asked how she was getting there since it's a long trip for just a weekend. She said "flying". I said "to where?" Detroit. Ummmm....isn't it a 4-5 hour drive to Harbor Springs from Detroit? "I don't know" she says. Heh. It is, isn't it? There's no major airport close to the tippy top of the mitten except maybe Sault St. Marie?

Lexi, he is being stationed there, that's why. I'm not particularly happy about it either. He called this morning and said the roads are icy and it's 25 degrees. I looked at weather.com, and it said today's (next few days) low is 11 degrees and high is 23 degrees. Not surprisingly, he is planning to buy some warm clothes when he gets back to California

About the girl with DS, don't know if she is single. He will only work with her for 3 days before he ships out, so not likely any sparks will fly, LOL and he already knows her. I need to ask him if any of his buddies are going to Montana too.
Yes, in general, he seems very happy and is thriving, it seems. Can't wait to see him again soon. Leaving on a jetplane 7am Thursday.

Been working for 3 hours so far, but Im going to take a break and get my nails done.

Can't wait to be yelled at by the Dr. on Monday for unhealthy living and not going there of 7 years Just hope he clears me for the eye surgery.

Pumba, didnt you have that done too? I need some words of encouragement about now.

I bought a head of cauliflower last weekend, guess I better make it before it goes bad. Haven't made that in a long time.

I picked up a little cookbood at the grocery store today, "Chrsitmas at Home"
"Savory SSouthern Christmas favorites, Holday recipes and more."

I dont know why, I hardly ever cook, LOL, I guess it like the thought of cooking, and it was only $5.

I spent most of my day working today, and feel like I got nowhere...

But, tomorrow I need to start packing for my trip!

Lex - Yes, it IS quite a drive to Harbor Springs from Detroit, but they can probably take 75 most of the way there. The Traverse City airport might have been closer, but it's probably pretty expensive to fly into there. Our trees have been changing color pretty fast here in mid-Michigan this week, so I'll bet it will be a pretty drive for your friend at least.

Brrr . . . that's a GREAT price for Mission Point Resort, but it's got to be really cold up there with the wind off the water. I've never been up there in the fall, but I'll bet it is romantic.

Nabbie - HAPPY THANKSGIVING WEEKEND! I bought stuff to make pumpkin fluff at the grocery store today. I'm taking it to work on birthday treats day next week. I almost bought a single slice of pumpkin pie while at the store, but put it back down when I saw it was 350 calories I keep seeing these ads for pumpkin spice drinks at Starbucks and think how good that sounds even though I don't drink coffee!

Lil G - I'm not sure what fbso stands for I think you're going to love being a DVC member. I would think the people are pretty laid back because they go to Disney so often! I think our next trip is going to be to Hilton Head Island. A bit of Disney for me and a break from the parks for my DH and DD.

Cel - I still need to look at the group photo. Haven't been on Photopass for a few days. How's Alli doing???

Marita - Glad to hear you got your doctor's appointment. Fingers crossed for them to clear you Your son is definitely going to need some warm clothes for Montana! Sounds like he's doing really well. You'll be seeing him before you know it

It's raining and thundering here tonight. WTH? It's October, it's supposed to be great weather!!!

I think I mentioned I had to cancel my vacation day Wednesday, it was a "just in case" day anyway, but with Dr. Monday and dentist Tuesday, I had to cancel it.

Pondering using my new microwave egg cooker for either stuffed eggs or medium eggs on toast... hmm

My carrying tray for stuffed eggs still has not arrived
But my new red shoes have, so I am going to open the box NOW

Moo and Lil g - I meant to tell Moo this earlier, but I forgot.
I used her points for one night stay at saratoga springs -
I'm assuming it was just like if she'd rented them to me.
They didn't ask for a credit card!
What if I'd damaged the room?
Would it have gone back on her?
Not that I would - but I can just see someone renting points then destroying stuff (or smoking in the room, which comes with a fee if they decide to charge you) and it being the responsibility of the owner.
I think renting to strangers is a bad idea.
Alli and I were talking about it - I called to checkout the next morning and they said everything was fine and I didn't have to even stop by the front desk.
Also, my key to the world card said I was a DVC member.
I'm sure that would just eat the people up on some of these boards!

I'm also going to remind myself never to rent my wyndham points to strangers either.

But the offer still stands for you guys, if you need them!

I did my final weigh in today before I start eating - 7 pounds lost in 5 days!

I forgot to check and see if the hotel in Lexington has a fridge and a microwave. It might be hard to eat healthy this week.

Well, it wasn't the goats.

Something was hit over night and vultures were having a feast - people were honking at them because they wouldn't get out of the road.

My first thought was Little Man! Ack! (That's my brother's dog who is getting pretty old)
So I walked to Mom's to check - it's not him. He's curled up in the recliner with my brother.
Thank goodness!

My whole family will have a hard time when little man dies. Whenever Alli or Jamie or even my dad are having health or mental issues, Little Man sticks to their side like glue.
It's like he's the protector of the family.

He also thinks he's the boss! He "yells" at everyone until they do what he wants - usually feed him or let him out or back in.

And he terrorizes Riley, which is funny.

Now I'm REALLY going to get something done.
I have to go to the dump.

(In case any of you doubted that I live in the country, I think I've proved it today - goats, vultures in the road and going to the dump!)
Just so we're clear, there is no garbage service out here! I could pay a private company, but all the varmints would get in the outside trash can. So anytime I the can gets full or stinky, I have to go to the dump.
Which is only open when I'm at work.
Or on the weekends.

ETA: Just talked to mom, man, is that painful!! She can hardly understand anything. Eardoctor has been on vacation, but supposed to be Monday, thank goodness. Mom wants me to write a letter. I said it would be easier to send an email that my brother can print out, but she couldnt understand that

Cel Congrats on the liquid diet - you have great discipline there! and thank you for the offer to rent your time share!

I rent points... I have a dream... of winning the lottery.... of having money to own DVC - but until then, I dream with renting points - it will be my 3rd rental! all from 'strangers' all from the board - and the owners I've rented from dont post a lot - so it was a leap of faith each time! the last time in '08 before that marathon, that owner made me uber nervous - he didnt answer emails, didnt have me listed on Magic Express or dining - so how was I to be sure we had the room?? I was stressed, and posted as such on the event/marathon thread, and one WISH'er offered us her sofa at Boardwalk villa if we didnt have a reservation - that helped calm me - but in the end, he had had a family emergency - called and apologized and it all worked out!!

and we have the dvc member on the kttk card so "they" do know that - we get free internet, but that's about the only "perk" I can think of that we can take advantage of (I cant buy a TIW card - wish that we could!! )

Marita I have like 3rd cousins or some such relation in San Franscico and went there when I was maybe 9 or 10 - I remember the Wharf, Ripley's Believe it or not... the ocean... the weather was gorgeous!!

GOOG Luck - - - and prayers for a soothing Monday and Tuesday! Of course your nerves will be up - but you are doing what you need to do!! for your mom... that is so hard... it must really be upsetting to her as well... I hope you can put all that back and really enjoy your "vacation" and esp your son's graduation - what a HUGE AWESOME accomplishment!! This world is better for his accomplishments - for his choice to be in our Armed Services! Let him know a bunch of "YOUR" friends Congratulate him, and stand behind you in the Proud Moment!!

DS called this morning and asked to speak with me, but I was still sleeping. I called back and got voicemail, and no call back so far. He is probabably still house hunting, but I worry a bit about him driving on icy roads and freezing to death in 20 degree weather

Bought a briefcasey sort of bag with straps at Walmart today, that should work for the plane and parks. Made a picking list, short, only a 4 day trip.

First load of laundry is in the washer. 2 more to go.

I am contemplating a nap zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz


ETA: DS put in an offer for a house in Frozen Moose, Montana. SHould hear back in a couple of hours. No good smiley here for that. Hope he gets it!!
