Rob-
I would see if Children's Mercy wants them. I think they still have a library of VHS for the kids in the hospital to watch.

If not then craigslist or yard "sell".... frugal mamas and in-home daycares buy those things. Even if you only get 10 cents/tape it is better than storing them at your house or landfilling.

Do you have anything good? We watched Christmas in Connecticut last night on VHS because as far as I know it don't exist otherwise. That is my favorite Christmas movie. Right behind it is White Christmas/Holiday Inn (they really are the same).

I keep wanting to get rid of all of our VHS and we don't even have that many but my packrat husband won't let me.
1. That's a great idea, Twink.

2. Hmmm, not our "style". We don't do yard sells -- everything superfluous goes to charity (if it has resale value) or is passed on free of charge to others. I thought about donating the tapes to the Salvation Army but wasn't sure about their resell possibilities and didn't want to be burding them with our junk.

3. Anything good? Hmmm, well like I said, these are all kid tapes. We haven't gone through our adult tapes yet (not THOSE type of adult tapes, Breezy! :sad2:). In the kids realm, we have Arthur, Bear in the Big Blue House, Berenstein Bears, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Disney Sing-a-Long, Dora the Explorer, Dragon Tales, Sponge Bob, various construction machines/police car/fire truck videos, many I'm sure I'm forgetting, and what appears to be every single Barney video ever released.

Christmas in Connecticut is available on DVD.

Last edited by RobInBigKC : Today at 12:53 AM. Reason: I made it right up to the parental visit in that movie before last night's lack of sleep kicked in. Night all! (i.e.,Marita)

what you need is to take nap! I switched over to Sex and the City, and now Jerry Springer. I just dont have any attention span for movies anymore ...

I stripped off all tablecothes and whatever else needed washing, they are in the dryer now.( I DID wash them first) But not likely to be folded/put away tonight, so might need some redoing.
Unloadeded the dishwasher of the holiday dishes that got cleaned today (more to go). Cleaned the microwave plate. Microwave (sprayed long ago with cleaner still to go, last thing I will do tonight)

ETA: OK,microwave is done. Last load of holiday dishes is in the dishwasher.

Why does my DD feel the need to have 26 HUGE grapefruits in the house? Where the heck am supposed to put them???

OK, forget my edit below it's 3 am after all.......

At least the coffee is ready for tomorrow morning.

I'm sure Lexi will be up bright and early soon after I go to bed.

Happy Sunday to all, and to all a good night (OK, I might be tad late with that last sentiment)

Marita out at 3:22 AM :)

Hi Cheryl~

Everyone, it was so nice seeing Cheryl again. We spent some time together in Epcot. We met in the freezing cold over in the Test Track store, I think GM is in the name. My family couldn't make up their minds what we wanted to do and we eventually ended up in an Innoventions room. We made velcro froggies together with Malorie and shared a snack.

Short but sweet.

Still much much to do.............lots of delegating to do.

The wind is majorly blowing and making new huge drifts. I'm not sure if we got any accumulation yet?:confused3

And I have to brave a store or two.

I don't think planning a vacation this close to christmas while being in school is a good plan.

morning.....

we had at least 60 people last night for the family party....this is just the spouses of the six of us (of course my sister is gone) and our kids and our kids kids....and some with kids kids.....my oldest brother and sister were not here as their kids and kids kids too.....they all live in other far away states...two families that live close by didnt come because of illness and work schedule.....we had a great time....plenty of food and Santa (my hubby) of course ....each parent of a child brings a small gift to fit in santas sack and with his or her name on it.....He sits down and the kids come up to him when they call his name and the families take photos....we loved it....we had two new born babes with their first photos on Santas lap.. As always we had a blast......My (dingaling hubby) bought a pair of super tiny weenie skivvies.....and he takes those out of the bag at the end and says where did Mrs. Claus leave her undies in this bag and not the launddry bag......of course the adults had a great laugh out of that.....

we got home late and I slept in...

Ok enough snow already!!

We have no where else to put the stuff. Definitely will have a white Christmas.

Have just finished make Oatmeal chip cookies and my house smells so good. I made a mistake and put a cup and half of chocolate chips in the first batch instead of cup that is for raisins. The kids loved that.

The kids are out sledding now and in there glory. I told them they could have a snow day tomorrow from school ( they are already out) .:lmao: Poor Hubby has two days to go yet then hopefully of to my mom's.

Pumba-- your hubby sounds like a pretty funny man. Glad you had a great party.

That is what Christmas is to me, all about Family and great friends. Which I have here in all you.

Aww, Nabbie, what a nice sentiment and I couldn't agree more!

DH and DD are out shopping for food. It occurred to me today that we better get the turkey today, or it won't defrost.
I started making a shopping list, but DD (who decided she is cooking this year) said she doesn't need a list! Can't wait to see how this all goes... :rolleyes1

But hubby took the list anyway.

OK, Im off to do dusting and window cleaning and laundry, UGG!

we are in the 20 inch location of Maine......I HATE SNOW..but you already knew that.......
It is white out conditions and some stores are closed......can you believe that...bad for the retailers and as long as the roads are passable people will shop........we have a parking ban going right now......no parking on the streets until four pm tomorrow....

1. I second that...NO MORE snow!
2. YUM! Great, now I want oatmeal cookies.
3. Mine too! DS19 had set up the picnic table with benches in such a way that when we got the 10 inches (on top of the other snow), a HUGE steep snow hill was created. Yay! I may have to test this hill's strength my own self!
4. YES! I also agree! Totally!

NOT tidy whities!!!!! :scared:

Funny!!!!!

OK, this will be really a hard day for me on Wednesday. DD is taking over.

DD and DH went shopping today for the turkey and a bunch of other groceries
She came home with 6 packs of refridgerated ready to eat mashed potatoes, among many other things.
I said, "I thought (cousin/niece) Renee was bringing mashed potatoes?"

She said, "MOM, don't worry about it" ! I feel like a stranger in my own house, LOL!
Anyway, good for her, she thinks she has it all under control, unlike me. I was always a nervous wreck for 30 + years, so I guess I will sit back and relax for once (yeah, right! )

Martha "Lynt" Stewart, I am NOT!!

Martia-- I didn't even know you could buy refridgerated ready to eat mash potatoes. :confused3 Think they would be better heated up. :lmao:

Both my kids are at sleep over tonight at neigbours. It wasn't planned they just called and asked. Nicholas just says that it will leave the two of alone to enjoy the night....That was suppose to make us say yes. I said yes because then I can sleep in tomorrow morning.

I just made Kiss cookies and waiting for the dough to chill on Coca Kiss cookies. This is a new one for me. The recipe had no egg so I can't wait to see how this turns out. The kiss is on the inside of the dough and then you bake them , when cool you roll them in icing sugar.

Hubby is watching National Lampoons Christmas Vacation on TV so it is a nice quiet night.

HA HA, Nab! I am sure heating them up is in the plans. Though I wonder what happened to Renee bringing the homemade ones? Apparently none of my business

That reminds me, I may get a new bright, shiny and bigger toaster oven to heat things up in (besides in the microwave). This would also avoid having to clean the old one, heh! Plus my current one is fine for toast, but that's about it. Even heating up a roll in it burns the top. So there, I need a new one! The bad part is facing Walmart on the Monday before Christmas, and I hate shopping at the best of times! So we'll see if that actually happens.

DD left tonight toting some boxes and a bunch of clothes. The moving out has begun!

Let me know the recipe for the cookies if they turn out. DD is a veritable cookie monster. I am getting her the "Cookie recipe a day" calendar she wanted.

I am contemplating getting a Murphy bed for the room when she moves out. It's a nice piece of furniture and practical for 2 people. But also costs around 2 grand! :scared1: Well, I have time to think it over, DD will be gone, and DS after this visit wont be back for at least 6 months (sniff!)

ETA: OK, I decided to stick with a futon. Some good sales out there with free shipping even. I was ready to order one, but DD refuses to budge to look at pictures, so I am shelving it for now. I thought it would be a goog idea to get it here for at least part of DS's stay :confused3

I can't get DH to even look at the computer, I even brought it to him! GRRRR Great deal, nice set for $169, free shipping and 51% off, even. Maybe tomorrow...

Enjoy your quiet evening at home. I am trying to get up energy to do stuff here tonight. My day has been rather lazy...

, I see fame in your future:

Evening, all! I was scarce today because hubby and I did a bunch of organizing and cleaning today, but we're still only about a third done. At least we got the tree up. The angel's been put on the top of the tree, but I still need to decorate it. I think I'll have some popcorn and see if I can get a second wind.

Pumba - Sounds like a nice party! I think you have way more snow there than what we have, but it has been bitter cold today. Glad I didn't have to go out for anything.

Mony - It was great seeing you and the girls again and meeting the rest of your family too!!! It was very windy here as well today. I'm NOT looking forward to going in to work tomorrow. I hope I can get out of the driveway in the morning.

Nabbie and Twink - Your cookies sound yummy :) I'm going to wait until DD is home and see if she wants to bake any. We're a little concerned with the weather about her being able to drive home.

Marita - Hang in there with your DD doing the party. I know how hard it is to let go, but I'm sure everything is going to go great! Just make sure you have enough wine on hand ;)

Hi all! Just to show that I can enjoy a "trashy" movie as much as the nice guy, I'm planning on watching The House Bunny here in a few minutes. If I end up falling asleep, I'll just keep it another night and watch it tomorrow evening -- even a 2-night rental from the RedBox is still pretty cheap.

So I "think" I finished my christmas shopping today. That wind was brutal. 6 degrees and all that wind made me a very cold cranky lady.

Didn't help getting flipped off from a driver who 1: failed to stop and 2 almost side swipped me. I was driving in the main flow of traffic lane, slowly, in front of a movie theatre and he was coming down an isle of parked cars.

I can't remember what I might have said back to him, but I know it was not even close to being Marthaish. More like Maxineish.

tis the season...............

Then came home put the girls to bed, don't ask, and then went back out to do my dredded grocery shopping.

Just put all the crap away a few minutes ago.

I'm looking at day care Monday and Tuesday and 1 mom has asked me to watch her daughter for 1/2 a day on Wednesday. I've yet to hear back from another family, I have a feeling 2 more will be joining her.

Tomorrow night is a bake-a-pa-loo-za in our house.

Zack can't wait!

On that note sweet dreams everyone.

Oh and Pumba, that part about the undies was hysterical!:rotfl:

Hi all,

Well, the grand sum of my accomplishments today were folding laundry and putting away a boatload of groceries. DD cleaned the fridge

But, but, but..........

My Bff introduced me to a quit smoking site with a chat room, with some lovely, welcoming and supportive folks. So I'll go back there and try to get my head around quitting. Nice to have some folks to talk to who know how truly hard it is.

I think I will go empty the dishwasher of more holiday dishes, and maybe do some other stuff, yet to be determined....

Moo, I would say "hope you can make it to work tomorrow", but Im not sure that's what you really want, LOL!

I'm off for a week!:dance3:

GOOD MORNING!:santa:

Finished shopping and wrapping. Done.

I've still got to clean the house and cook for Wednesday. We always have friends over for Christmas Eve.

No snow here....just bitter cold and gray. (4 degrees with -11 wind chill at the moment)

SIL and BIL took us out for a really nice dinner last night. They are leaving today to spend Christmas in Barcelona. My niece is already in Spain and they are flying over to surprise her.

They gave DS 3 months worth of Gamefly.....his ultimate gift. He's soooo excited.

Marita
....Lucky you with the DD taking over! w00t! That's what we have these children for! Right?

Pumba

Moo

Peej......Are ya there yet? Goog deal on the flying! :thumbsup2

WT, DTD, BNCG, Lynette, Wendee, Twink, MP, Ever-body.....:wave2:

HAVE A GREAT DAY TODAY!

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.” - Luke 2:8-11
