Okey I need suggestions....having 8 people for supper on Saturday.....My oldest sister from NY is coming for a visit with her hubby and we have not been together since Mama died ....so I am anxious to have a gathering......
What will be easy to make for 8 people and have it ready so I can enjoy the company too.......Getting the mini pastries from the bakery for dessert after which the other twenty will arrive.....The nieces and nephews will come ...and invade us...

We had over 20 people to the shower, I take chuck steak ( mom said 1/2# per person, but that was too much!) A CROCK POT!! a jar of "pepperocini" (you get them in ailse with Italian (speghetti aisle) food, or condoments - a pkg of Liptons Onion Soup - beef broth... trim the fat off the chuck steak (I buy boneless) and make it big chunks to fit in the crock pot... pour in the onion soup, and the can of beef broth (12 ounces) and either the whole jar (spicey) or just half - save the other half to serve..

buy hard rolls - and maybe a cole slaw or potato salad, or just chips...

My Grandma turned 90 years old today! I talked to her this afternoon, and she was having a great day...getting visits and phone calls all day from family and friends. We're having her party on October 11. I'm so thankful to still have her in my life, and in my children's lives.

So I rushed out this afternoon to get a new one. I just got it connected to the network after an hour

But it's working now!

I got a Compaq Predario on sales for $449

Now I have to read back..., and finish my other installations.

Okay, Marita.....you beat me to the new laptop. I am officially jealous! I've been looking to buy myself a new one, since one of my hinges is cracked (makes my screen wobble back and forth if I don't sit perfectly still), but I haven't quite found the deal I want yet. Hopefully, I'll come across a great deal by the end of the year.

Pumba, I vote for some sort of pasta dish too. Chicken, ziti and broccoli is a good one. Buy frozen broccoli, 2 or 3 jars of Bertolli Alfredo sauce, 2 lbs of ziti, and 2 lbs of chicken. While you are cooking the pasta, have your hubby grill the chicken (no seasoning needed, but you can sprinkle it with Mrs. Dash if you like). Steam the broccoli in the microwave, then drain it and set it aside. Cut the cooked chicken into bite-size pieces. Drain the pasta, and mix everything together and put it into a giant serving bowl and let people serve themselves. Cooking time is under 30 minutes. I serve it with hot, fresh garlic bread and some salad. Delish!


As of tomorrow, I will be working 1/2 days on Fridays right through Christmas time. Probably 10-2ish. As much as my wallet will like the additional money, I dread giving up that full day that I can devote to laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, and running errands. Gah!

Hi all!!

Watching the debates - give Palin and Biden their due - they studied, and they are both doing great putting out their views!! (but as a woman, I truly wish that Palin would stick to the debate and stop winking at the camera!! She truly is specific and is every bit as good as she was win she debated the "former" govenor of AK and won!)

Pumba - keep the crockpot on high for 6 hours - then go in with 2 forks and shred the beef, it falls apart - and its like meaty stringy (pulled pork, but its pulled beef - Italian Beef!) and serve it on a hard roll ( stronger than a hot dog bun!)

Allie continued prayers for the poor baby - Bless his heart! May it continue to beat strong!

Marita, I've been looking at Dell laptops with 2GB, Pentium Dual Core processors and lots of other goodies. I'm just waiting for the right "sell" to come along. Also, part of the appeal of Dell is that CBM will buy me a laptop using his small business discount, and I would just pay him for it. (Yes, he is occasionally good for something.)
