Hi all!!

Watching the debates - give Palin and Biden their due - they studied, and they are both doing great putting out their views!! (but as a woman, I truly wish that Palin would stick to the debate and stop winking at the camera!! She truly is specific and is every bit as good as she was win she debated the "former" govenor of AK and won!)

LOL! Did she really wink at the camera? She's too cute to be vise president. You have to be a manly woman like Billery.

McCain gives me the creeps and so does his daughter-wife. But the pro-lifer will always get my vote over the baby killers.

I'm having weird lower abdominal pains. So I'm avoiding the store by myself today. They were really bad last night. Combining strange pains with my anxiety produced uncontrollable shaking. Who knows. But since we have no insurance I'll be dealing with it unless it persists or gets worse.

I'm out $170 of my vacation savings because of 2 birthday parties, no Falynn this week and stupid direct TV came up for canceling. (We had it suspended back when Chad lost his job and our suspension was up and we couldn't afford to keep it)

So, now I am going to WDW, but skipping the Universal thing. My parents are letting us use their DVC to stay at Saratoga Springs and I got a pretty cheap airfare, so I decided to go for it!

I have today off to get my packing and whatnot done, since I leave tomorrow. But I stayed up till 2:45 am, so I didn't get up till 10, and managed to kill time reading the paper and DIS so far. So I better get mooving................

PJ, the old laptop belongs to work, it would take days for them to get around to it. Plus it's 4 yrs old, so chances are it will be replaced, which takes a month or more. (don't as me why? ). Plus now I can actually do things like install programs, like Quicktime player. It was very frustrating to get messages that said "you are not authorized!"

Marita Hope you find the best way to enjoy your journey to Germany!! Promise I'll be thinking of you, sending you positive thoughts!! (and some beer vibes!!) and I'm joining the "I want a laptop too" crowd!! I was using dh's laptop when they retired it (they were going to trash it because it couldnt hold a charge, but if you wiggled it, and ductaped the wire just right - it worked!! But I had to move it or unplug it - and I havent been able to wiggle it right - dh is trying to finagle a 'used' apple laptop for me!! fingers crossed!!

I sent to dh to print (our printer is kaput too) and he did them in a cool font - and gave them to dd to help her over the "rough spots"

BTW DD seems back to normal... she's been going to school, has accepted all things, so now I look the foolish one - like I over reacted, and like there'd be no drama if not for me!! *sigh... When we talked I told her, that I loved her, and she is a GOOD kid... made a few bad choices, and i made her repeat them - to again accept it was her actions, reactions... (we went to DQ we've been having some great conversations over the Arctic Blasts!) So, this too has passed... now will someone remove the burden of guilt I feel knowing I have to take her to WDW? Its keeping me up at night! How dare I pull her from school! Her grades were always right on, that it never mattered... it matters but.. well.. you know....

Sandy, glad things are back to normal with DD. Quit feeling giulty!

As I said, Best Buy has a great deal on Compaq Presario this week. Brand new for $449! I'm very happy with it so far. 15.4 inch screen too, easier on my eyes.

So I had today off to get stuff done. It is now 5pm, and my grand total accomplishment today so far is getting my hair colored and a shower and a quick run to the grocery store. Oh, and I bought some new lighters, and then it occured to me that you can't take lighters on a plane anymore. But no matches to be had!!!!!!! So I'm hoping they will have some at the airport somewhere, or I will have to bum a light whenever I get a chance during layovers. I might try to smuggle one (don't report me) they are the cheap kind, so if
they take it, no big loss.

Oh, and hubby got the suitcase out for me. So I better get moving soon. But with staying up till almost 3am last night, I am thinking a nap might be in order first.

PJ Here you go - your "inservice" for today!!

the school I worked at today had the Tibetan Monks in to do a Sand Mandala - fascinating... peaceful... the unit was on "legacy"...
The sand is carefully placed on a large, flat table. The construction process takes several days, and the mandala is destroyed shortly after its completion. This is done as a metaphor for the impermanence of life.

The mandala sand painting process begins with an opening ceremony, during which the lamas, or Tibetan priests, consecrate the site and call forth the forces of goodness. This is done by means of chanting, music, and mantra recitation.

On the first day, the lamas begin by drawing an outline of the mandala to be painted on a wooden platform. The following days see the laying of the colored sands, which is effected by pouring the sand from traditional metal funnels called chak-pur. Each monk holds a chak-pur in one hand, while running a metal rod on its serrated surface; the vibration causes the sands to flow like liquid.

Formed of a traditional prescribed iconography that includes geometric shapes and a multitude of ancient spiritual symbols (e.g.: Ashtamangala and divine attributes of yidam), seed syllables, mantra, the sand-painted mandala is used as a tool or instrument for innumerable purposes, amongst which re-consecrating the earth and its inhabitants is elementary.

(this is a pic I found online - our monks didnt wear masks, but used the tools, and the sand was a vibrant color!)

So the closing ceremony had lots of chanting (amazing low tones) of the 7 Monks... then they blessed the area, a flower was involved... then a monk swept up the sand, poured it into a vase, then took a tiny spoonful of sand and put it in bags to give one bag to each teacher (for their classroom).. they then would take the remaining sand to the Des Plaines River (its nearby) Bless the area and pour the remaining sand to eventuallyflow to the sea, ocean, touching everything with the blessing and peace!!

Marita you are accomplishing a lot - just getting in the right frame of mind!! You know airports will sell lighters for a premium price - but I'm thinking you cant take them on a plane...

make sure you weigh your luggage/suitcase - I've been reading the Transportation board and airlines are strict with the weight limit (50#) and measuring - (one has a 61 inch one a62" - I'll know more when its closer to our time to go!)

dont forget to get chewing gum, and hard candy (lifesavers, cinnamon hot candy) and licorice to tide you over when you cant smoke!!
